Mark Hamill Voices The Joker in Batman: Arkham Asylum Game

kotaku.com — Fresh word from the GameStop expo in Las Vegas is that Mark Hamill, voice of the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and face of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, will have a starring role in the upcoming Batman: Arkham Asylum video game. The role? The Joker, naturally. Also developers are offering the chance for a lucky fan to appear in the game.

      • darkphenox, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2I like Hamill's Joker I'm just saying until recently I didn't know that he did the voice and I grew up watching the cartoon series, Ledger's and Nicholson's Joker can be recognized by seeing it even at a younger age, but the cartoon is kinda anonymous in that a young person will not pay attention to the credits.

  • ZeirosLion, on 09/10/2008, -0/+10While the Nicholson and Ledger Jokers are iconic in and of themselves, Hamill's was a great way for many of us to dive into Joker as the psychotic staple of the Batman universe in the 1990s. Very glad that Hamill's more or less reprising his role (with more mature writing thank in BTAS, I'm sure).
    • Tomchei, on 09/10/2008, -0/+1I grew up with the Cesar Romeo Joker (and it was all we had back then. SuperFriends doesn't count because aquaman is gay) and there's something to be said of the weekly episodes of any version of Batman vs. the Movie versions.

      Hamill's Joker got more screen time during it's run than Nicholson and Ledger put together and made a great, iconic, impression of what the quintessential 'Joker' is.
      Don't really care for the current 'the Batman' version of the Joker, the Jester lunatic type; a nice imagining of the character but not a Joker I like.

    This will be the best iconic representation of the Joker before Heath Ledger's version. Hopefully the writing will be as good as the acting/casting.

      The New Batman Adventures had the same voices as The Animated Series, but different writers and a downgrade in appearance. They made the show too childish, invented this Robin as a little kid (Tim Drake is not a little kid), and revived some villains they previously killed off in The Animated Series, such as Man-Bat, Clayface ("Mudslide") and even the Joker ("The Laughing Fish"/"Mask of the Phantasm").
