- ministewy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1masterzoa...there's something called a link section in digg... and there is also something called a sense of humor...two things you should check out
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Awesome Digg. The kind I can show to my non-geek friends and them actually appreciate.
Masterzora - If I have to choose between having non-news links or having trolls like you on the site, I choose the non-news links. Notice the hundreds of Diggs. That means people like the story. If you don't like it, fine. But don't troll. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Woah! That's pretty darn cool.
- porplem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd be tempted to cut off his index finger.
- rolandog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Undoubtedly, Mario Snowman must have an enemy. If there ever was a more accurate character that'd depict him, it'd be the jibjab snowman.
(sorry for the plug, but since jib jab no longer has it under the movies section, and it isn't displayed in their old blog entry, I chose to host it myself).
http://rolandog.com/archives/2005/12/06/happy-fing-holidays-kids/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks like he shat his pants with all the dirt at the bottom.
- joehobbes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that rivals even Calvin and Hobbes' snowmen :D
- teh_toaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks like he could use a bit more snow, especially since theres none behind him anymore.
- snarkyNiggler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It looks like Mario may have been given a tracheotomy!
- dasc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Where did they get the snow? Creepy.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You must be crazy if you think a bunch of "kids" sculpted this thing!
- jla1987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bitchin indeed
- Annon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Without a doubt, the best snowman ever created.
- generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0""Where did they get the snow? Creepy."
Its called winter."
LMAO. hahahaha.
I have a ton of the crap here in Detroit. They can come cart it away if they want. - jessejanderson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0teh_toaster: yah... actually they had used up just about all the snow within sight. That's why I was so surprised coming home to see that we had a snowman, much less a Snow Mario!
- PhantomBantam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You should make a kupa. Bonus point if it's one of those flying ones (kupa troopa?)
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@jesseanderson:
I agree; it's cool. Why don't you post it on del.icio.us and submit it to StumbleUpon (two places where it belongs) rather than Digg (where it doesn't belong)? It makes a lot more sense that way. - AndrewTechie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All I can say is bitchin....
- Rikushix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice. Definately bitchin'.
- chicomdk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I thought Digg was already going downhill, but a snowman? Even a Mario one is bad.
Digg is a technology news website. This is obviously not technology news. Therefore, it doesn't belong on Digg. "
Well Last I checked Mario is a video game character and there is section here for gaming to i guess there is no reason why this can't be here
and i made a Mario bust out of clay when i was in junior high and it was almost perfect so i have no doubt a some kids could do this - pox05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this site is not the constitution, nor does it have one. also, some people argue, with reason, that the constitution is a living document, and that it has to be in order to work in todays world. this is partly why we have the supreme court.
That aside, you - nor am I, the entire community. Do not speak for others - no one has asked you to.
as i stated above, 500 + people do like this, so let them digg, no one said you had to. That is how this site works. - vm-01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Itsa me!!
- MicahC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why did this get removed from the front page?
- Eyot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think I would've kicked it over.
- Wolfman~K, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0+ digg "for the kids"
- crapiolio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What the hell is this? A Snowman? Now that's high tech! NO DIGG!
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@pox05:
The closest things it has to a constitution are what it lays down as what the site is. In other words, the faq I've already posted, the only official word from the creators on what this site is about.
If you missed it the first time around, http://www.digg.com/faq is what you're looking for. - pox05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i think this is great, and that it DOES belong here. a community is what you make of it. 500 + people liked it, that is more than some other TECH NEWS on this site.
and that is why this site lets people digg things, if it was uncool, it would not get DUGG.
just my 2cents - comrademikhail, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Masterzora, get over it. I do agree, it's not tech news, but it is pretty awesome, and so do 500+ people. You're not going to stop them from digging it, so get over it and relax a little.
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Comrade:
To ignore the problem will only make it worse, guaranteed.
Though, I do want an answer to just one more thing:
Why do people come to Digg, which clearly states in several places that it is a tecnology news website, and then expect that it is anything but a technology news website? It makes no sense!
Digg truly is the proof that one should never underestimate the power of stupidity in large groups. - jessejanderson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whoah! Didn't mean to start a controversy with this post!
I saw the snowman and took the picture, I know that Digg has a gaming section and I knew that, as a gamer, this was something I thought was cool. I figured I'd just throw it up and let the people decide whether it was as cool as I thought it was... with 500+ diggs I would guess they agreed.
Apparently, there enough complaints against it to take it off the front page and, frankly, that doesn't really bother me but it is sad that others who would want to see such a simple cool little thing will miss it now.
Snow Mario is a heck of a lot cooler than that stupid cloud game that got posted the other day. =D - masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@pox05:
You want numbers? 571 users have dugg this at the time of this writing. http://www.digg.com/topusers/page2507 tells us that, at the time of writing, there are 75189 registered users. That comes out to be .75941% of the total of Digg. Argue with that number.
Remember, this page was also reported off of the front page anyway.
Besides, notice keyword "stories". A picture of Mario hardly can be considered a "story". - pox05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.digg.com/comment/Mario_Snowman
i think they wanted to see where this site would go, and i would say it is a tech news based community. this is something that atleast 500 other members of this community are interested in, and that is why it was DUGG. it is important because they have made it that way. they find something of vaue in it, and you dont have to, thats fine. but that is the idea behind digg.
the users are the editers!!!!!
to quote the precious FAQ
"With digg, users submit stories for review, but rather than allow an editor to decide which stories go on the homepage, the users do."
you can not argue with the numbers. you lose. - masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@Arramol:
A define:troll search returns the following results:
"As a verb, to post controversial or provocative messages in a deliberate attempt to provoke flames."
"a newsgroup post that is deliberately incorrect, intended to provoke readers; or a person who makes such a post"
Now, I don't post these messages to provoke flames or anything of the sort. I post these messages to show people that the story doesn't belong. To call me a troll is somewhat (but not entirely) akin to calling MLK a troll for saying things the general populace didn't like. Or Copernicus. Or anybody speaking out against the ignorant masses.
(Not that I associate myself with anybody as great as them, I'm just trying to show you what is wrong with your post)
Besides, no one ever said I didn't like it. I'm just sick and tired of people posting crap that doesn't even pretend to belong on Digg.
Notice how it disappeared from the front page. That means people agree with me. - masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@chicomdk:
"Well Last I checked Mario is a video game character and there is section here for gaming to i guess there is no reason why this can't be here"
Yes, the video game character part perfectly fulfills the technology part, but where do you see me denying that it is technology? I never said it isn't technology; I said it isn't technology *news*. - masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@pox05:
I guess it really comes down one question.
Which is more important:
-What the users post and Digg
-Or the what is established by the creators and owners of this private site (read http://www.digg.com/faq ).
If you can't figure it out, here's another similar question.
Which is more important:
-What the people do
-Or what the Constitution says - masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@MicahC:
Because it was reported. Because it doesn't belong on Digg. Because it's not technology news. - artemus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Okey, Dokey!
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0@ministewy:
How does the link section automatically mean miscellaneous crap not related to what the website is about in any way?
http://www.digg.com/faq is something you should check out.
And, yes, I have a sense of humor, which is also irrelevant at the moment.
You, on the other hand, should probably also check out a grammar book or two. Maybe take a basic English course, too. - coolcoolglasses, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Mario rocks, its so cool that kids still dig him after all this time
http://plueballs.libsyn.com a damn funny podcast (but not for kids) - masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0I thought Digg was already going downhill, but a snowman? Even a Mario one is bad.
Digg is a technology news website. This is obviously not technology news. Therefore, it doesn't belong on Digg.
