- nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -5/+152I guess all those people who said the Wii was an overclocked GameCube were wrong . . . it's actually a REALLY overclocked N64.
- sikosmurf, on 10/12/2007, -5/+53Almost makes me want to pay $10 for it. Almost.
- StealthTomato, on 10/12/2007, -3/+40Very old news. As in, N64 old news.
My original cartridge does the same exact thing. Not quite to that extent, but nearly.
Another level with this effect is battle mode's Skyscraper. - Rikushix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18At that speed I'd like to think you could flatten those damn gophers.
- Dabellah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18This bug was present in the original game too.... If you play the same levels with only two players, the game will go insanely slow. It was always a weird little glitch but it has been there since the original cartridge days. Makes you wonder just how accurate they do emulate their own ROMs.
- Hydraulix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Haha, Bowser is still slow as *****. Even with super-dupa fast mode.
- kjm16, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10damn it, I'm really getting tired of not having a Wii.
oops, did I say that out loud? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10uhh.. no
- a0me, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Given that this is a glitch that existed in the original N64 game, it's NOT a glitch in the Virtual Console emulation but -quite the contrary- it's a testament to the high level of emulation of the Virtual Console.
- Chupacabra82, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Yup. On the original N64 version it did seem from time to time there would be random times at which the game ran faster. I too noticed it on the Skyscraper level.
It was never nearly this fast though. Its pretty interesting so I digg. - Akronos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9And Super Smash Brothers.
- KiDD420, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Maui-o Kart?
- bromanct, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9I feel that way when I've had too much caffeine & fiber.
- Jaryd2006, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Your not alone, I couldnt get ahold of one either, so im gonna wait till about April and save up money, And just buy Metroid, Zelda, Sonic, Smash bros if its out and Mario if its out all at once.
- OregonTrail, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5They beat one of the fastest runs by just a hair.

Not the 'world record' though:
http://www.mariokart64.com/PAL-NTSC/mk64wrn.html - ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -2/+6Yep, same!
Mine were Skyscraper and the Donkey Kong jungle track.
Perhaps it was a means of preventing any possible slowdown with multiplayer... by speeding it up! - StealthTomato, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Actually, I think it belongs more in Gaming than Videos.
The "Videos" section is for neat videos that are just interesting to watch.
This is a video that demonstrates a feature in a game, not just an interesting standalone video. - wastern, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4>>This bug was present in the original game too.... Makes you wonder just how accurate they do emulate their own ROMs.
They said they weren't going to change anything, so all the games should be 100% true to the originals, glitches and all.
They have to add a couple more controller configurations for the different ones supported by the Wii, but that could be done outside the ROM itself I would think - blairside, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah my n64 cart does it too. actually played it on the weekend with four players. and no matter how many times we played koopa beach and the dk jungle track it was crazy fast. its funny at first but it gets really annoying. does anyone know why it does it? i've been wondering it for years.
- Joga5000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, this actually just happened to me a little while ago - we were playing 3-player on Moo Moo Farm and it started going all crazy fast. It's actually really fun that way.
- StealthTomato, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Actually, this emulator runs the original code exactly as the original hardware does -- to the extent of replicating a glitch that occurred on the original hardware.
- Gatesophile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Same thing happened when my friends and I played it over 1964 (emulator, not year :D) online. We got a kick out of it.
- Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DUDE! Yeah!
I ***** pwnt you. :D - glassx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you use the project64 emulator on the PC, a few of the levels have this glitch with 2 or 3 players.
- Valyn, on 02/27/2009, -0/+1Removed video. Lame..
- dodonoghue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I remeber this from the N64, It only works on a 3 player game no more no less for moo moo farm, the skyscaper the levek with no map and a big egg and there was 1 or 2 more it hink but cant remember.
I thought I had a dodgy cartrige so I brought it back to the shop for a replacement and then the new cartridge did the exact same thing.
So I always wondered till today if he really replaced it. - schlik1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It pisses me off that you can't play Mario Cart VC with the wii mote? Now I have to go buy more controllers for my wii. grrrr
- troopa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Considering how many people have reported a similar experience, it's safe to say that it was in the original, and also in the emulation. Some type of glitch in the game.
- DreKor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Apparently, I'm the only one who never experienced this in the original version. But, it used to bug me that they'd kill the background music and ambient noises when I played with 3 or more people. I'm guessing it was a system resources thing.
- miggz06, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ok.
- everhope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll digg my old copy of it out and try it out myself. I had noticed it before but I don't think i've gone that fast before. I remember wasting many hours away in levels like Moo Moo Farm and Wario Stadium, the latter being my favorite.
- troopa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Glitch doesn't work on single player.
- a0me, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Thank you StealthTomato, that's exactly what I was trying to say.
- kickuindajunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the same thing happens on my xbox n64 emulator. I see similar gameplay on DK's jungle parkway.
- Supernova36, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Bowsers Castle is insanely fast on the original and VC release.
- Iytata, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0this isn't a glitch on the VC. it used to happen on the N64 too so if it is a glitch it's from the original, not this port.
- hovee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Sears has the Wii instock if you really want one kjm16.

p.s. I know this post isn't totally related to Mario Kart. Sorry! - McGrunty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Oh man this takes me back, but yeah anyone who played the original knows this is perfectly normal, and when you get the hang of it it's really fun. I love how people think this is just an emulation issue Lol.
- a0me, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Same here. Supersped (spell?) Wario Stadium, Snowland and Big Donut tracks were the best.
- supermajic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1its been like this on emlators for years.. me and a couple of friends playing.. psychadelic
(does this really deserve to be digged) - gimpbully, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0let me just say, Moo Moo Farm sucks
| Wario Stadium >
| - trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Hmm yeah I believe this was in the original n64 game. Sigh.. the Mario Kart Virtual Console version looks exactly like the hacked Ocarina of Time emulator on the gamecube. I believe they are using the exact same code to emulate games and yes... most N64 games did not work and so far all the titles they have announced (Star Fox and Zelda) worked on the hacked n64 emulator for gamecube. Maybe this is why the Gamecube controller is supported as well.
- Shenaniganz08, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1anyone who has used a n64 emulator ( 1964 specifically) already knew about this and the skyscraper stage.
why is this... wait nevermind ...
digg me down, but im burying this old news. - chaimpot0k, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I never experienced this speed bug. I always enjoy jumping the walls in Wario Stadium though
- garyh84, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Hurry! There is one Wii at the Wal-Mart here. I bought the other...
- bergur1, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2He pronounced Mario almost like godofgta3
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5Its pretty bad Nintendo cant even fix a glitch on an old game before re-releasing it at a ridiculous price.
- DeadPlasmaCell, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2The spin-cycle at its finest x)
- mwosh, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Ha, The guy that was using bowser was that friend that, you know, always sucks at video games, but you let him play cause he wants to feel like "one of the guys". Loser.
- mr1337, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3This is great and all but it's in the wrong section. There's a 'Videos' section of Digg for a reason. Not trying to be pushy and all, but, use it.
