- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3As has been pointed out, this is played by a Japanese orchestra. This was one of the tracks on one of the "Orchestral Game Concert" albums released some time in the 90s, which you can buy at various places that specialize in imported Japanese stuff.
Their orchestration of the Legend of Zelda theme is also very good, though my favorite is an 8 minute-long piece of music from Super Metroid. The orchestration is outstanding. - powetgames, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Its actually an orchestra in Tokyo and directed by Konji Kondo, the man behind most of Nintendo's best music.
but thats the inter-net for you. mp3s like this get traded around and renamed a hundred million times. - kevinrose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Great find - love it!
- psyonide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I don't usually complain about stuff being old, but I've had this MP3 since 1997 or 1998 for Christ sake. How have people not heard this by now?"
Not everyone has seen the same things as you. Do not think that just because this has existed in 1997 that everyone on Earth should somehow automatically know about it.
If I haven't seen it before, it's new to me. - bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would like to read what the musicians were thinking when they where playing this, superb execution though.
- Mark_H, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh my god. "Now digg supports piracy"??? I don't remember a Digg.com without links to torrent sites. It's all about piracy.
- Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The best part is, the CD's were published by, wait for it, SONY! Hahaha
- rawc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The song is from the Orchestral Game Concert IV CD which was released in 1994. Like you guys have been saying...it's pretty old news. You can preview most of the songs on the CD here:

I liked the remix a lot. Actual sounds from the game. Heh. Sweet!! Dugg. - stanley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've seen the Boston Pop's 5 christmas concerts in a row, they are incredible. I'm not sure which orchestra this is, but it could be them as well, they are great!
- lamprey187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I teared up and got misty eyed when I heard this.

- mcbesq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If Leonard Bernstein played video games...

- troublemaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Don't forget http://remix.kwed.org/ if you also want to hear some nifty remixes of them good ol' C64 tunes :-)
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ah, the Tokyo Philharmonic. If you want a real good listen, get ahold of "Smashing... Live!", a full concert of the New Japan Philharmonic doing beautiful orchestrations of the Smash Bros Melee soundtrack.
- Mark_DeRidder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0We need more of this! I love remixes of old video game music... especially orchestrated ones. For more game remixes, go to:

-Mark - riggzy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha, first time I've heard this - sounds like a theme to an old sitcom.
- AeonTorpor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No digg, this is sooooo old. I remember having this somewhere in the range of 3 years ago. And it was probably done way before that.
- bogatash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Boston Pops ah wicked awesome and They would kick the London Symphony Orchestras friggin asses.
- hollywoodcole, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, check out the Mario remix on his site also!

- cypher35, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"@ cypher35: Waaaah, go cry to the RIAA. I bet you don't have anything pirated, do you?" - serra
"Oh my god. "Now digg supports piracy"??? I don't remember a Digg.com without links to torrent sites. It's all about piracy." - Mark_H
I don't give a rats ass if anyone of you pirates music or not, and i have a sizeable collection of mp3s myself. All i was saying with my comment is that it's not a good idea for a big site like this to be DIRECTLY LINKING to copyrighted material. News about torrent sites is one thing, linking to actual files is another. - TTVclassic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ahh like a breath of fresh virgin air. Love it!
Hot Diggity - katanna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My favorite is the Acappella group singing the Nintendo themes...
http://gprime.net/video.php/nintendothemesacappella
Matthew - HouseofEl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is indeed the London Symphony Orchestra. They've also done a few things from Zelda and others. Koji Kondo has actually worked with several European Symphonies. I'm not sure who is conducting this but I'm pretty sure it's not John Williams. But the LSO is sounding great as usual.
- Crossmenjeff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is kind of an old mp3 i remember having in high school nearly 6 to 7 years ago. i thought it was boston pops. Plus i remember there being some other video game music songs. My favorite was the starfox and zelda songs.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anyone have the Torrents for these? Obviously you cant buy them here in the USA so I might as well download them.
- recover82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you guys have obviously never heard the Contra cover by Vomitron. now that's good listenin'
:) - PhantomaZero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great stuff.
- samuraitiki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0amazing!
+dugg - Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Their orchestration of the Legend of Zelda theme is also very good"
I use a short clip from that as my cellphone ring. I wanted to use the sound when Link gets an item as my "SMS Received" sound, but I never get text messages so it was kind of pointless. - designbydave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is just awesome
- TeeOhDoubleD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sweet. Where can I find the others?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"This is pretty cool too:
