- motang, on 10/12/2007, -2/+39Good to know that the Wii is getting more mature content.
- mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -8/+41This is actually huge. It means that Rockstar is interested in the Wii! GTA Wii soon?
- Epyn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Because that's what the ESRB says, guh. You think MA+ stands for messy action?
Stop arguing over the word, violent or suggestive games are considered mature as they aren't intended to be played by teenagers, not based on classiness or intelligence. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22Imagine if there was Hot Coffee on the GTA Wii?
.... How would you play that? - AdriaanGTAP, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16So I guess we can rule out Manhunt 2 as being one of the six titles currently in development for the PS3 from R*.
- Thorpe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16I don't think it will considering how the previous one did not suck at all.
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14"So Nintendo fans blasted the first game because of the content."
When? Where? Link? ....because I own the game AND I'm a fan of the Wii. - SilverGinger5, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Umm. I think you've accidentally typed "Nintendo Fans" when you meant to type "Jack Thompson". It's an easy mistake to make, the keys are really really close
- theblackgecko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12R* will probably slap a big 'compatible with the PS3' sticker on the box.
Sony has an interesting condundrum with the PS2 / PS3. Developers have plenty of incentive to make games for the former, not as much for the latter. Likewise, Sony gets liscensing fees on both. Therefore, one of the biggest hinderences to the PS3 is the PS2. - chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13"GTA has its own set of licensing agreements. If nintendo wants it, they'll have to shell out big time for it."
If the Wii continues selling as it is and being essentially a runaway hit, I got the feeling that Nintendo isn't the one who's gonna be begging on their knees here. - revisrev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Are people still stuck on the first Mortal Kombat or something? Nintendo stopped that whole "no blood" thing back in the SNES era. I mean, come on, RE4 was developed for the GC...
Since Nintendo is the only console company that can make a good, fun, game that is able to snag an "E" rating they are believed to be anti-violence? - ShadySpace, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13No, it won't be. The Wii version is being developed by an entirely different studio then the PS2 and PSP iterations.
- monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13You are such a genius.
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9***** that man, give me the piano wire....a head is the best way to distract
is the Wiimote speaker quality high enough for the director to talk through? The XBL headset was the best part of Manhunt - Antimatter3009, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Switching to PS3 from PS2 would require far more training than switching to Wii. Investment, on the other hand, is definitely true.
- monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Interesting. I didn't know Manhunt 2 came out on the original xBox.
Link? - moonhead, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9They had better not ban this one in Australia. I hate censorship.
- SicSevens, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The most controversially violent game in the industry's relatively short run is being produced for the system whose predecessor was mocked as a 'kids' console'. I like this step, it'll certainly make some people shut up about Wii's lack of 'good' games.
- Kratisto, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9this is good for the Wii. It shows that developers are no longer afraid to approach the "kiddy" company with violent and realistic games, not to mention the fact that a third party title being released on the 360 and PS3 is being developed for the Wii.
- 3dom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10GTA has its own set of licensing agreements. If nintendo wants it, they'll have to shell out big time for it.
- sampson123, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Obviously GTA IV isn't coming to the Wii but something like San Andreas Stories would be very possible.
- PsychoRick, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10The first game was disgusting. The violence, the gore...I can't wait.
I doubt the nintendo version will be the same, I mean come on. - monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Good to see Nintendo's actually trying to get "mature" content.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+899% it wont happen, but maybe they'll test waters with a liberty city stories port :-P
- Antialias, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Why wouldn't it? Some of the goriest games have been on nintendo consoles.
- sampson123, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8It's a port because it's presumably being developed for the PS2 and then ported over to the Wii and PSP. Unless the PS2 and PSP are getting an entirely different game it would be unlikely that the Wii is the lead development platform.
- KillerLettuce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yea, as long as they don't half-ass it and port it from the ps2 to the Wii, it should turn out alright.
- SicSevens, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The Wii didn't exist when Manhunt was released. I didn't like the Gamecube because of the lack of great games, such as the ones Rockstar makes, and because it wasn't popular. If it's not popular, studios don't want to develop for it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Dugg down because people keep calling the current generation of consoles the NEXT generation of consoles? Now that the entire generation is out, the next generation is the stuff Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are working on.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Next Gen? The X-Box 720, PS4, and Whatever Nintendo Names the Next One?
OH! You mean CURRENT GEN! Because the 360, PS3 and the Wii are all CURRENT GEN consoles, with the 360 being the oldest of the current gen.
And the Wii actually has more in common with the original X-Box. Well, make that two of them combined to make one super X-Box. Because that is the closest comparison. - XedLos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Hey Bring On the ChainSaw
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Nothing says "Nintendo" to me like a game jam PACKED with Sodomy!
Maybe we can get a Postal 2 port? I'm serious. I love Postal 2. - revisrev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I dunno, Resident Evil games are a pretty nice example, maybe not the goriest, but definitely not for kids.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6"It means that Rockstar Games is interested in Wii but that doesn't mean Rockstar North is. They'll do what they're told but they are predominantly a Sony studio - switching to Nintendo would require considerable training and investment."
My PC isn't Sony branded, and I've got almost all the GTA games on it, including the original GTA and GTA2, which has fun multiplay built in. And GTA:London isn't bad, either. - ReCkLeSsX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6This is not necessarily a good thing, as it seems to be the beginning of PS2 to Wii ports.
- miketuck3r, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8This almost guarentees no GTA4 for wii, GTA4 is a next gen game and probably cant be ported down, the wii has more in common with the ps2 and its makes sense to include it in that multiplatform scope
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Jack Thompson, whether or not he loses his license or not, will love this. If you get to kill people more finely than ever before with the Wii controller, he'll be salivating at the prospect of a huge threat to society this new "tactile interactive killing simulator" will be brought upon us.
- JudgeMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well crap, that told me nothing. And why is it even restricted. It's odd, nothing more. Still, one of the best part of manhunt was hearing Starkweather talk to you right on the xbox headset. I don't believe the wiimote is capable of broadcasting long sounds, is it? Then again you may not even have the same thing going on in this one. That trailer sure as hell doesn't say much.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3motion sensing? That alone makes it not a port. It has to have completely different controls, therefore the game will be inherently different. Ports also go from powerful systems to weaker systems. Ps2 --> Wii? I don't think so. Plus something I don't think many realize is that it is not profitable to make new games for 360 and ps3, when there are still 100millin ps2 users out there and growing everyday. Thats why we see ps2 and wii games.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+11It means that Rockstar Games is interested in Wii but that doesn't mean Rockstar North is. They'll do what they're told but they are predominantly a Sony studio - switching to Nintendo would require considerable training and investment.
- wonkavsn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I agree with 5hop4orce. Manhunt was probably one of the stupidest games ever made.
I think there's something inherently wrong with a game whose sole purpose is the simulated murder of characters in the most disturbing ways possible.
Most companies who would make a game like this would at least try and mask the game's incredible repetitiveness with some kinda plot.
"Woah I just got a shard of glass!!!!! I'm gonna hurt me sumfin good!!!" - DanielNielsen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2***** awsome, Manhunt was my favorite game back on the first xbox.
- chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not to mention the more bizzare(in a good way!) games as well.
- chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wouldn't mind a Bully port, ahem, adaptation for the Wii as well. I am serious about Bully appearing on the Wii though.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5If "Graphics = Fun" the Wii isn't fun.
The Wii is actually fun to play.
Meaning that graphics =/= fun. They can add to the fun, but..
The Nintendo Virtual Console is full of games older than the PS2. Those games are AMAZINGLY fun. *****, I just got Super Mario World. I've got SMB, Contra 3, LttP.. Those games are FUN as HELL! - Diggtatorship, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"This is actually huge. It means that Rockstar is interested in the Wii! GTA Wii soon?"
I wouldnt be surprised if they are "testing the waters" with manhunt. If it sells well they might bring GTA over. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo does some of the promoting for this game. - VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.rockstargames.com/manhunt2/ enjoy
- TheTjalian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Holy crap, Manhunt on Wii! Definitely the biggest shocker thus far today!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1IGN has a trailer for it but it's age restricted. Even though I have an Insider account with IGN that says that I am 18 years old I still cannot download. I'm ***** 18 I can watch the trailer.
I even said I was born in 1956 and I couldn't watch. IGN's ***** age restriction service is so goddam hit and miss.
