- sampson123, on 10/12/2007, -45/+6Not really surprising, it's been known for a while that the Wii would end up getting a lot of PS2 and PSP ports.
- mrtorok, on 10/12/2007, -41/+7"Red Steel, get ready to give up your sword fighting crown."
Buried as lame...Red Steel sucked...
Oh, and Neil, you can digg me down once but it won't really do anything... - mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -8/+41This is actually huge. It means that Rockstar is interested in the Wii! GTA Wii soon?
- neiltc13, on 10/12/2007, -9/+11It means that Rockstar Games is interested in Wii but that doesn't mean Rockstar North is. They'll do what they're told but they are predominantly a Sony studio - switching to Nintendo would require considerable training and investment.
- drathosX3, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22Imagine if there was Hot Coffee on the GTA Wii?
.... How would you play that? - 3dom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10GTA has its own set of licensing agreements. If nintendo wants it, they'll have to shell out big time for it.
- sampson123, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Obviously GTA IV isn't coming to the Wii but something like San Andreas Stories would be very possible.
- XedLos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Hey Bring On the ChainSaw
- Lyph4, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6"It means that Rockstar Games is interested in Wii but that doesn't mean Rockstar North is. They'll do what they're told but they are predominantly a Sony studio - switching to Nintendo would require considerable training and investment."
My PC isn't Sony branded, and I've got almost all the GTA games on it, including the original GTA and GTA2, which has fun multiplay built in. And GTA:London isn't bad, either. - chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13"GTA has its own set of licensing agreements. If nintendo wants it, they'll have to shell out big time for it."
If the Wii continues selling as it is and being essentially a runaway hit, I got the feeling that Nintendo isn't the one who's gonna be begging on their knees here. - Antimatter3009, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Switching to PS3 from PS2 would require far more training than switching to Wii. Investment, on the other hand, is definitely true.
- ReCkLeSsX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6This is not necessarily a good thing, as it seems to be the beginning of PS2 to Wii ports.
- Mrstupid7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@ReCkLeSsX
Some PS2 to Wii ports would be nice as I refused to buy anything Sony branded and missed out on some sweet looking games. I'm sure there'll be a lot of ***** ports, but some games would be sweet. I'm hoping for a Guitar Hero game on the Wii. - heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Teaser Trailer:

I wouldnt be surprised if they are "testing the waters" with manhunt. If it sells well they might bring GTA over. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo does some of the promoting for this game.
- mrtorok, on 10/12/2007, -41/+7"Red Steel, get ready to give up your sword fighting crown."
- Adamacus, on 10/12/2007, -12/+9...
I need new underwear..
And how is this a port? Its called Multi-Platform release- sampson123, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8It's a port because it's presumably being developed for the PS2 and then ported over to the Wii and PSP. Unless the PS2 and PSP are getting an entirely different game it would be unlikely that the Wii is the lead development platform.
- GoodGod, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Looks like it won't use RAGE as an engine... I just hope they don't mess up with the choice of porting it to Wii and not going beyond PS2 (would be a first in Rockstar history, so the odds are low).
- KillerLettuce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yea, as long as they don't half-ass it and port it from the ps2 to the Wii, it should turn out alright.
- wolfwood278, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Of Course they are going to half ass it and port it from the PS2. This is Rockstar we are talking about. Im glad they are working on games for the Wii to address the 'kiddy' image Nintendo has for those of you who care about crap like that. As for me I wont be touching anything they make.
- motang, on 10/12/2007, -2/+39Good to know that the Wii is getting more mature content.
- Buelldozer, on 10/12/2007, -28/+8Why is this more "mature"? Because it's got hookers and blood and stuff?
Grow up. - Epyn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Because that's what the ESRB says, guh. You think MA+ stands for messy action?
Stop arguing over the word, violent or suggestive games are considered mature as they aren't intended to be played by teenagers, not based on classiness or intelligence. - Exhaust, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4There's close up images of executions... Smashing heads in with bats and pieces flying at the camera. That's pretty mature dumb ass. STFU
Great game through. Rockstar kicks ass. Can't wait for the Wii version!
- Buelldozer, on 10/12/2007, -28/+8Why is this more "mature"? Because it's got hookers and blood and stuff?
- AdriaanGTAP, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16So I guess we can rule out Manhunt 2 as being one of the six titles currently in development for the PS3 from R*.
- theblackgecko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12R* will probably slap a big 'compatible with the PS3' sticker on the box.
Sony has an interesting condundrum with the PS2 / PS3. Developers have plenty of incentive to make games for the former, not as much for the latter. Likewise, Sony gets liscensing fees on both. Therefore, one of the biggest hinderences to the PS3 is the PS2.
- theblackgecko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12R* will probably slap a big 'compatible with the PS3' sticker on the box.
- Spdprince, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2This like this will be hit for nintendo jus like the gta was to the ps2
- vsujohn2, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Give me a ***** chainsaw!
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9***** that man, give me the piano wire....a head is the best way to distract
is the Wiimote speaker quality high enough for the director to talk through? The XBL headset was the best part of Manhunt
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9***** that man, give me the piano wire....a head is the best way to distract
- diggfrost, on 10/12/2007, -22/+2Well... this game is going to suck.
- Thorpe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16I don't think it will considering how the previous one did not suck at all.
- ImTheDarkcyde, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3i disagree Thorpe, but I'll still give this one a chance
- jromz03, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2the PS3 and 360 version are probably not yet announced.
Once the wii, ps2 and psp are out, they will follow with enhancements (such as HD and DLCs). - NiGHTSChao, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4Its just going to be a port, meaning there wont be anything special for the Wii version
- ShadySpace, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13No, it won't be. The Wii version is being developed by an entirely different studio then the PS2 and PSP iterations.
- NiGHTSChao, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2So it will probably come out to be like the Harry Potter games
Console versions = good, PC version = utter *****
*edit* Doesn't matter anyway, Manhunt sucks - spyyder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3motion sensing? That alone makes it not a port. It has to have completely different controls, therefore the game will be inherently different. Ports also go from powerful systems to weaker systems. Ps2 --> Wii? I don't think so. Plus something I don't think many realize is that it is not profitable to make new games for 360 and ps3, when there are still 100millin ps2 users out there and growing everyday. Thats why we see ps2 and wii games.
- chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wouldn't mind a Bully port, ahem, adaptation for the Wii as well. I am serious about Bully appearing on the Wii though.
- Kratisto, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9this is good for the Wii. It shows that developers are no longer afraid to approach the "kiddy" company with violent and realistic games, not to mention the fact that a third party title being released on the 360 and PS3 is being developed for the Wii.
- donnikhan, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2Lets not forget it came out for original xbox also.
- monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Interesting. I didn't know Manhunt 2 came out on the original xBox.
Link?
- monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Interesting. I didn't know Manhunt 2 came out on the original xBox.
- monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Good to see Nintendo's actually trying to get "mature" content.
- NiGHTSChao, on 10/12/2007, -19/+1Its not nintendo genius, its Rockstar
- monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13You are such a genius.
- moonhead, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9They had better not ban this one in Australia. I hate censorship.
- PsychoRick, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10The first game was disgusting. The violence, the gore...I can't wait.
I doubt the nintendo version will be the same, I mean come on.- Antialias, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Why wouldn't it? Some of the goriest games have been on nintendo consoles.
- chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not to mention the more bizzare(in a good way!) games as well.
- beachesandmusic, on 10/12/2007, -24/+4So Nintendo fans blasted the first game because of the content. You know, the violence and all that. They said it was a terrible game that should have never been made. That games shouldn't be like Manhunt.. having you kill people in such disturbing ways.
But now that its coming out for the Wii, Manhunt is suddenly a great game that everyone should look forward to?
Nintendo fans are something else. As long as the game is exclusive to another platform, it "sucks" and its "terrible". But as soon as Nintendo gets it, the game is a gift from god and everyone should be interested in it.- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14"So Nintendo fans blasted the first game because of the content."
When? Where? Link? ....because I own the game AND I'm a fan of the Wii. - SicSevens, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The Wii didn't exist when Manhunt was released. I didn't like the Gamecube because of the lack of great games, such as the ones Rockstar makes, and because it wasn't popular. If it's not popular, studios don't want to develop for it.
- SilverGinger5, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Umm. I think you've accidentally typed "Nintendo Fans" when you meant to type "Jack Thompson". It's an easy mistake to make, the keys are really really close
- revisrev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Are people still stuck on the first Mortal Kombat or something? Nintendo stopped that whole "no blood" thing back in the SNES era. I mean, come on, RE4 was developed for the GC...
Since Nintendo is the only console company that can make a good, fun, game that is able to snag an "E" rating they are believed to be anti-violence?
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14"So Nintendo fans blasted the first game because of the content."
- SicSevens, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The most controversially violent game in the industry's relatively short run is being produced for the system whose predecessor was mocked as a 'kids' console'. I like this step, it'll certainly make some people shut up about Wii's lack of 'good' games.
- DavidtheDuke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Jack Thompson, whether or not he loses his license or not, will love this. If you get to kill people more finely than ever before with the Wii controller, he'll be salivating at the prospect of a huge threat to society this new "tactile interactive killing simulator" will be brought upon us.
- chicaneuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol quite. Because as we all know, a plastic remote controller is just the same as wielding an enormous great sword or something.
Hopefully Jack Thompson will have lost his license before this game gets released!
- chicaneuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol quite. Because as we all know, a plastic remote controller is just the same as wielding an enormous great sword or something.
- miketuck3r, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8This almost guarentees no GTA4 for wii, GTA4 is a next gen game and probably cant be ported down, the wii has more in common with the ps2 and its makes sense to include it in that multiplatform scope
- ImTheDarkcyde, on 10/12/2007, -2/+899% it wont happen, but maybe they'll test waters with a liberty city stories port :-P
- Lyph4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Next Gen? The X-Box 720, PS4, and Whatever Nintendo Names the Next One?
OH! You mean CURRENT GEN! Because the 360, PS3 and the Wii are all CURRENT GEN consoles, with the 360 being the oldest of the current gen.
And the Wii actually has more in common with the original X-Box. Well, make that two of them combined to make one super X-Box. Because that is the closest comparison. - spyyder, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3GTA is lame. After now 4 of them, and several spin offs, why? Godfather:blackhand is the GTA for Wii
- Lyph4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Dugg down because people keep calling the current generation of consoles the NEXT generation of consoles? Now that the entire generation is out, the next generation is the stuff Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are working on.
- mitrovarr, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Probably. I don't think that many games will be portable between the PS3/Xbox360/Modern PC and the Wii. First of all, the game really has to be designed with the Wiimote in mind to work well with it. However, I imagine the main problem will be that the hardware superiority of the more powerful systems doesn't just mean HD - you also get things like better physics, better AI, more complex models, more creatures on-screen, etc. Many of those things are difficult to remove from a game once added, and games that don't include them will be markedly inferior to other games on the more technically advanced consoles. Look at Gears of War - I doubt the Wii could ever run that, not even in SD.
- Lyph4, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5If "Graphics = Fun" the Wii isn't fun.
The Wii is actually fun to play.
Meaning that graphics =/= fun. They can add to the fun, but..
The Nintendo Virtual Console is full of games older than the PS2. Those games are AMAZINGLY fun. *****, I just got Super Mario World. I've got SMB, Contra 3, LttP.. Those games are FUN as HELL! - chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I wouldnt mind a GTA port, even from last gen but an original IP would be even better so I don't really care if GTA appear on the Wii or not. GTA to me always will have ties to Sony and the Playstation brand and the Wii is no Playstation.
Besides, Wii games specifically made for the console and the Wiimote cannot, or if possible, extremely difficult to port over to the PS3 and the 360, or at the very least, completely different experiences..
- madmike759, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2This is awesome simply cause the wii isnt going to be 99% kids system like the GAMECUBE
- Lyph4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Nothing says "Nintendo" to me like a game jam PACKED with Sodomy!
Maybe we can get a Postal 2 port? I'm serious. I love Postal 2.- Brierleyjl12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Im with you on the Postal 2 port as Postal 2 Ruled.
- ImTheDarkcyde, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1with postal 3 already in development (using source) for xbox360 and PC it's unlikely you'll see 2, or 3 on the wii
- TheChihuahua, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1So ends the time of the great one we call, the Wii.
- Nasso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 neiltc13>
It means that Rockstar Games is interested in Wii but that doesn't mean Rockstar North is. They'll do what they're told but they are predominantly a Sony studio - switching to Nintendo would require considerable training and investment.
Not 100% true ;)
"Manhunt 2 is the debut title from the newly formed Rockstar London studio, which is developing the game in conjunction with series creator Rockstar North. The Wii™ version is being developed by Rockstar Toronto. Manhunt 2 will be available this summer."
Rockstar north is involved. Although not in the wii-version. That is how i read it, right or wrong? - StarkDigging, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0No Brian Cox, no sale.
- DarkAlchemist, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Why? The last one sucked, didn't it?
- PsychoRick, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0antialias: "Why wouldn't it? Some of the goriest games have been on nintendo consoles."
..what? What are you talking about? Killer 7?- revisrev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I dunno, Resident Evil games are a pretty nice example, maybe not the goriest, but definitely not for kids.
- revisrev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A couple people have said that it would be too costly for Rockstar North to switch to making Wii games, but I must ask... more expensive than switching to PS3?
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Costly maybe, but too costly??? That would depend on how many people buy the Wii and are interested in Rockstar's games. If the Wii continues to dominate next-gen console sales they would be fools not to develop for the system.
- jstem1994, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I rented the original ManHunt, and thought it was pretty boring. Alot of waiting and hiding, then cut-scenes of executions.
Now if you could use the Wii controller and actually DO the executions... - SuperNick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1IGN has a trailer for it but it's age restricted. Even though I have an Insider account with IGN that says that I am 18 years old I still cannot download. I'm ***** 18 I can watch the trailer.
I even said I was born in 1956 and I couldn't watch. IGN's ***** age restriction service is so goddam hit and miss.
LINK TO PAGE WITH TRAILER: http://media.wii.ign.com/media/883/883115/vids_1.html- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Worked for me, I uploaded for YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNUaVd3kI90 - JudgeMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well crap, that told me nothing. And why is it even restricted. It's odd, nothing more. Still, one of the best part of manhunt was hearing Starkweather talk to you right on the xbox headset. I don't believe the wiimote is capable of broadcasting long sounds, is it? Then again you may not even have the same thing going on in this one. That trailer sure as hell doesn't say much.
- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Worked for me, I uploaded for YouTube:
- DiggDagger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You mean we could remake that popular "Psycho" scene using the wiimote? cool !!
- 5hop4orce, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21. Manhunt was a terrible game.
2. This is really going way too far. I mean, talk about a murder simulator...
I hope Jack Thompson finally wins. Rockstar's hubris is just getting unbearable.- Nemic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1stfu and gtfo
- wonkavsn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I agree with 5hop4orce. Manhunt was probably one of the stupidest games ever made.
I think there's something inherently wrong with a game whose sole purpose is the simulated murder of characters in the most disturbing ways possible.
Most companies who would make a game like this would at least try and mask the game's incredible repetitiveness with some kinda plot.
"Woah I just got a shard of glass!!!!! I'm gonna hurt me sumfin good!!!"
- TheTjalian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Holy crap, Manhunt on Wii! Definitely the biggest shocker thus far today!
- DanielNielsen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2***** awsome, Manhunt was my favorite game back on the first xbox.
