- bxblox, on 06/10/2008, -1/+43Translation: we don't want them to know they're being fired until they're done working.
- danielrh9, on 06/10/2008, -2/+31Remember when LucasArts were actually good? With stuff like Monkey Island and the X-Wing games? How about you fire your current batch of losers and bring the guys that made those games back?
- ericrous, on 06/10/2008, -5/+26Dateline, April 10, 1945. German officials issued a press release today indicating that "We are firmly committed to the Third Reich, the Nazi cause, and our Fuhrer. Any reports that we may be losing the war or on the verge of surrender are exaggerated."
- GalacticCmdr, on 06/10/2008, -1/+14It is nice to see that Baghdad Bob has found himself a new job.
- skeletorcares, on 06/10/2008, -0/+12On Call of Duty 4 for ps3 it said something along the lines of
'LucasArts
InfinityWard is Hiring'
Dunno what that means for this. - TheFuzzyOne, on 06/10/2008, -0/+11The lego star wars games were awesome, and the force unleashed looks amazing, based on the tech demos about the euphoria engine and their "matter that acts like matter" thing going on.
- yoshihama, on 06/10/2008, -0/+9Yeah, it's amazing how development schedules seem to 'slip' when everyone knows they're out of a job when they're done.
- arw371, on 06/10/2008, -0/+8They are outsourcing all the positions they are firing. They already outsource most of their art production to singapore. There is very little left that is actually American workers. I hope they run themselves into the ground because of it.
- MoralThreat, on 06/10/2008, -1/+8Keep living up to your username there.
- dobbinmon, on 06/10/2008, -0/+7These are not the rumours you are looking for...
- kurtwinter, on 06/10/2008, -0/+6Well, given that their current crop of games is "lets just do it all with legos", what do you expect?
- thanakar, on 06/10/2008, -0/+6This statement doesn't say a thing. It neither confirms or denies the rumors of firing.
- cubicledrone, on 06/10/2008, -0/+5So the company is healthy and the games are great and the birds are chirping and the sky is blue.
Yet the employees responsible for all this health and success are being fired.
Another company that wants top quality but isn't willing to pay for it. bew hew - jawagas, on 06/10/2008, -1/+5The game was different back then, I'm looking forward to their new trends and innovation. Lets all remain hopeful, for the sake of our children's future.
- freshyill, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4Yep, saw that on Xbox 360 last night too, and I thought it was hilarious. It also had "jobs@infinityward.com" at the bottom of the Message of the Day.
- Nicholutso, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4they fired the creative, funny guy division in 198something and they all went to work for Double Fine (psychonauts, et al.) go buy psychonauts.
- Managua8Green, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4yup, its true. It gives their email and everything.
- Scrappy1850, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3they have 2 full seasons of sam and max
- MrZaiko, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3I just want to find my Swag

- theaceoffire, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3Second that, Psychonauts ROCKS. Best PS2 game I played in a long time.
- BearinG, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Indiana Jones, Fate of Atlantis ;)
- thebza451, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2lol for reals? that's pretty cool if it's true..
- hellsing47, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2All the business and gaming industry experts are gathering here in this comment section to post.

- 4eloBek, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Well its cheaper to hire 1000+ ppl somewhere in india or eastern europe then to keep more expensive work force in us.
- inactive, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2I'm still waiting for a new X-Wing Alliance.
- rynosauce, on 06/12/2008, -0/+1I saw this as well - I thought uh-oh since LucasArts is one of our clients.
- plhearn, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1I want to see a sequel to sam and max hit the road developed by Lucas Arts. Not a dumbed down, less funny version from a different developer.
- lhnz, on 06/10/2008, -1/+2That's telltale games, and they're not as good.
- usingpond, on 06/10/2008, -1/+2... damn.
- CaptianOlimar, on 06/11/2008, -0/+1Well, LucasArts certainly isn't one of my favorite studios anymore, anyway. Force Unleashed looks good, but the best titles lately were developed and completely controlled by Traveler's Tales (the LEGO games), and before that, Factor 5. I do really enjoy their collabartive efforts, like LEGO Starwars, BattleFront, Galaxies, and KOTOR. Hopefully they maintain their partners, even if they are getting rid of people internally.
- GhostFreeman, on 06/10/2008, -1/+2Legos are fscking expensive, they should use Mega Bloks. Cheaper, and they can keep whoever else they haven't fired.
- davewelsh79, on 06/11/2008, -0/+1They're going downhill. There's rumors Knights of the Old Republic 3 will be an MMO. Some company executives are a waste of oxygen.
- NGliam, on 06/11/2008, -0/+1I saw that and thought "What the hell?" Then I remembered seeing the rumour on Digg and laughed my bottom off.
- petebot, on 06/11/2008, -0/+1And when everyone's a Jedi...no one's a Jedi.
- Jugglerfett, on 09/26/2008, -0/+0Travelers Tales sucks this is true. Especially the Lego and Thrillville. However it is really screwy to fire long time loyal workers who had nothing to do with the actual choice of game creation. I wasn't among them since I don't work there anymore, but I've worked at more than half of the companies in the area. I can tell you Lucas Arts treated their workers much better than EA. I've worked for both. Let's not forget Spore looks retarted and gay. The idea was there but the execution was not. Also Sims has always been gay. EA is very gay. One of the higher ups in EA is supposedly dating a new hire (GAY). they're both guys. It's one thing to be gay and another to suck your way to the top and this is sad but true. I'm sure in time EA will screw everything up. Just give it time. You can use outsourcing tactics and money and power for only so long. You need the actual skill and imagination to make dreams come true. Mark my words EA will not do what they set out to. Haven't people learned anything from Star Wars. The good guys always win in the end.
- ElSnuggles, on 06/10/2008, -1/+1*****
- G20NYK, on 06/11/2008, -1/+1Clearly if you read an article or two, you're an expert on the company and it's inner workings and can pass judgement on any decision they make.
- inactive, on 06/10/2008, -1/+1LucassArts
- SunAlex, on 08/28/2008, -0/+0Good news.

- SirPopper, on 06/09/2008, -10/+9“We are healthy. LEGO Indie [sic] was launched on seven platforms to positive reviews, and The Force Unleashed and Fracture are on track for this fall. We have a good slate of games and we have some good stuff going on in production. We are definitely committed to the internal studio. We remain committed to both our internal teams and working with external partners. [Websites] are definitely reading too much into the layoffs; [LucasArts] is not halting internal development.” - LucasArts spokeswoman Margaret Grohne

via feed! - Jeez, on 06/11/2008, -1/+0You do realize gaming companies do not outsource development to india mainly cause most of the work done there are maintenance of existing applications. Besides PC games and console games have poor penetration compared to countries like China etc. Right know the hottest region when it comes to publishing of games is Eastern europe cheap labor plus a lot of game addicts (i.e Witcher)..
- JettaMan, on 06/10/2008, -6/+3Yay, you found a spelling error and got to use [sic]. Have any other useless tidbits for us?
- plhearn, on 06/10/2008, -11/+3Nobody cares about the LEGO games. The new star wars game looks pretty average based on the game play footage.
Give us some more adventure games! Monkey island 5 or Sam and Max 2 plz. - theaverageidiot, on 06/10/2008, -16/+3LEGO Indiana Jones will not be any good to me unless it includes my favorite quote from the fourth movie:
"You act like a young man - eager to start, quick to finish."
