- GoKings, on 06/04/2009, -4/+40Looks like L4D with new guns and maps... Let's face it. L4D while a GREAT game, was not worth $60 or $50 that it cost to buy. While it was fun to play, it was like a Team Fortress type thing. Great game with lots of replay value, but not worth full retail value of a game, and Valve was gracious enough to offer TF2 in a package with HL2. To see now that they are releasing ANOTHER L4D so close together indicates one of two things:
1. Always had a sequel in plan, and were developing one and two close together. Which would be really ***** because two games combined would have been worth the $.
2.Because of the relative simplicity of the game, they were quickly able to shovel out some skins, new guys and weapons, and make what they hope will be another cash cow.

This feels like a half assed expansion they're trying to sell as a full game. I haven't been disappointed in valve in a long time....but this....this just sucks.

TF2 receives many updates. TF3 not yet announced.
L4D receives very few updates, mostly small and the large one wasn't even that substantial. Work on L4D2 was apparently started after L4D was released. One can assume that the lack of updates was due to the fact that the developers were spending most of their resources on L4D2. - inactive, on 06/04/2009, -2/+20Yeah I think I got my $50 worth... played pretty obsessively from Christmas to about April. I will not be buying L4D2 for the same reason I no longer play L4D1. been there, done that.

- m3arvk, on 06/04/2009, -1/+17Don't want to be a dick because I imagine it takes a lot of work/knowledge to make a game like this _but_ new stages, guns, ammo, people (on a game like L4D) does not a compelling sequel make. Although chopping off specific limbs w/ the axe looks fun.
If you want to make L4D2 a smash hit figure out how to make it feel like you are really the last survivors of a zombie apocalypse. Until then it feels like a cheap shell over counter-strike's zombie shootouts. - inactive, on 06/04/2009, -2/+16has it even been 6 months?

Left 4 Dead 2 has *MORE* content than Left 4 Dead and the Survival Pack put together. More campaigns, far more weapons, more special infected, everything playable in Versus right off the bat, and a new game type they haven't talked about yet.
Does Left 4 Dead have enough content to justify its price? Yes
Does Left 4 Dead 2 seem to have even more content, thus also justifying its price? Yes
Did Valve promise more content for Left 4 Dead, and will it be a major *****-up if they fail to make up for that broken promise in some way with a discount or other means? Yes
Does Valve failing to deliver content they promised in any way take away from the 40+ hours I've hugely enjoyed with Left 4 Dead? Absolutely not, and I'm still nowhere near done playing the game. - 1hrSleep, on 06/04/2009, -0/+8Very few people think the "new content" justify a new game.

New weapons, new maps, a slight graphical overhaul and perhaps a new mode added to the exact same gameplay? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds an awful lot like what we used to call an expansion pack. I will be severely disappointed if they try to pass this off as a full sequel without substantially changing the game. -
