- NiceGuyVan, on 07/01/2009, -8/+673 hours per day wouldn't even be enough for a lot of people. 3 hours per month? Don't even bother
- SirSid, on 07/01/2009, -1/+46Its only 3 hours for silver members. Gold members get unlimited. Title fail
- Grimi, on 07/01/2009, -0/+43Just a note 3 hours per month is ONLY for silver members everyone with gold gets unlimited play.
- andwewilldana, on 07/01/2009, -0/+38not so much true anymore.
beginning late last year, last.fm started offering artists the option to receive micro-payments based on the amount of plays and downloads they received. - swiecki, on 07/01/2009, -10/+45Is there anyone who doesn't have XBL gold but has an Xbox?
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -22/+49Boo! Last.fm makes money off of artists that never see a dime from it.
- hadak, on 07/01/2009, -3/+25Uh. Me?
- rx8geek, on 07/01/2009, -0/+18I just let my 12month card lapse back to silver even though it tried to get me to subscribe. I just dont see it being worth it anymore. But I'm on the Australian xbox live which is utter ***** and doesnt have anything nearly as interesting as what North America gets. Its almost insulting that they think we should pay even more for a service that has so much less, they just cant get over all the stupid international licencing *****.
Anyway if I wanna play something online I just jump on TF2 on my pc, i can pick a decent non-laggy server (for free!) which xbox live never seems to manage over here either. - mywhitenoise, on 07/01/2009, -2/+20haha..."Metallica". Haha!
- swiecki, on 07/01/2009, -3/+20A years subscription costs less than one game. You're telling me that you own a 400 dollar game console, probably have 6 or 7 games for it based on adoption statistics, an HD tv to enjoy it on, and you can't afford a 50 dollar a year price point?
I understand that especially now all of us have to cut back on our conspicuous consumption, but don't be stupid. - kawaiirobo, on 07/01/2009, -5/+21Meh, get Pandora on board and I'm in.
- WhereAmI, on 07/01/2009, -4/+20You are retarded if you think Last.fm is about listening to brittany spears and metallica.
- Ev3nt372, on 07/01/2009, -0/+16All Xbox Live needs is Hulu because very few people would ever pay for individual TV show episodes making the price of a season ridiculous. I swear if Hulu comes out on XBL a lot of consumers will cancel their TV and it will be very noticeable on a national level.
- kinseyincanada, on 07/01/2009, -3/+18yea just like how much the artist make when you pirate all their albums.
- PlusTheBear, on 07/01/2009, -1/+16Radio? lol
- roblange17, on 07/01/2009, -2/+17What's with all this LastFM hate? Unlimited skips... Great place to learn about new music... Scrobbling to instantly learn your music tastes... Great API that allows developers to capture the streams into players like foobar2000 or the Xbox live dashboard...
As soon as pandora started limiting me to like 6 skips per day and shutoff the free desktop client, I left. I have never looked back. If I wanted to pay for music, I'd do that on lala.com. - SirSid, on 07/01/2009, -3/+18It still is free
- Altanar, on 07/01/2009, -0/+15WRONG! Last.fm pays artists' their royalties and has for quite a while now.
- videodroner, on 07/01/2009, -2/+15Title needs to be fixed. It's 3 hours per month for Silver Members.***
Personally, I'm glad that more benefits are being added to Gold Members. - kentifer, on 07/01/2009, -2/+14Not for Canadians. ):
- CrimsonBlur, on 07/01/2009, -1/+11Submitter: the words "for others" at the end of the title for the article completely changes the meaning of the title! I won't bury because the description clears it up but man, will people please start looking at the titles of their submissions?
- kentifer, on 07/01/2009, -14/+23I remember when last.fm was free...
It was a good service. - weeFred, on 07/01/2009, -0/+9Isn't your television for watching television? Wow you're screwed now.
- Zenth, on 07/01/2009, -1/+10Yeah, but I can use Last.FM for free on my computer right now.
- latpack, on 07/01/2009, -2/+9I lol'd. Do you have a 360 hooked up in the garbage dumpster you're living in?
- Altanar, on 07/01/2009, -1/+8Free on your iPhone with $50/month data plan.
- JCEEZ, on 07/01/2009, -2/+9Oh yea.... I can play video games on my 360.
Forgot about that. - rx8geek, on 07/01/2009, -0/+7Off the top of my head it doesnt have: Any video content at all thats worth mentioning (game trailers is about it) no movie or tv show downloads, Netflix, Community Games, that 1 vs 100 thingo, occasionally an arcade game doesnt turn up here... I suppose none of those things by themselves is really that much of a big deal but it all adds up to leaving me wondering why bother paying for it.
You can get a US address and make a US account, but you need a US credit card to pay for gold membership or anything on it, and I know a lot of the video content will be region locked anyway.
I also dont think i've ever really had a decent public online game experience on xbox live, and I have more friends that play online through steam now and that lets me sort servers by ping so i can get on a nice and playable one.
Also the 360 still has heaps of solid single player experiences that I want to get though which is another part of why I'm not feeling motivated enough to pay for Gold membership. - rmfootball69, on 07/01/2009, -10/+17For the people choosing not to pay for xbox live? I say thats more than generous.
- Ajajadude, on 07/01/2009, -3/+10He's not saying it's budget-breaking, he's saying there's no real reason why you should be paying.
- inajeep, on 07/02/2009, -0/+6#1 voice in my head: If it's ad supported why would you want to limit the exposure and give it to just Gold subscribers?
#2 voice in my head: Because silly, Microsoft wants the Gold subscribers to feel like their getting something more.
#1 voice in my head: Ads. And we are still paying for a subscription. Plus Silverlight is coming which means more flashy ads on the dashboard.
#2 voice in my head: Yeah, I know. Sorry bud. It's still better than PS3 for now.
#3 voice in my head: Shut up you two, get back to work. - crazytucker, on 07/01/2009, -2/+8Use Tversity and you can use streaming media on the xbox 360.
- latpack, on 07/01/2009, -6/+12I look at it compared to PSN:
1) Larger community, shorter wait times to get a game started
2) Standardized options such as cross-game invites, party chat, game invites, etc.
3) Able to play ALL XBL enabled titles, going back to Crimson Skies even. PSN expects developers to maintain servers which doesn't guarantee you'll be able to dive back into LBP or Killzone 2 in another five years.
4) We don't have Home ;) - secondwheel2, on 07/02/2009, -1/+7I hear a big void of silence from diggers
- mywhitenoise, on 07/01/2009, -7/+13$50 is almost the cost a brand new game. Thats a pretty ridiculous fee for something that clutters your 360 with ads. I don't know why anybody would defend this.
- kinseyincanada, on 07/01/2009, -4/+9oh for ***** sakes the ads are all for games, and upcoming DLC, whats wrong with that i actually like to be informed of the game and DLC coming out.
- Altanar, on 07/01/2009, -4/+9Run to your text chat and party like it's 1995.
- clickwir, on 07/01/2009, -1/+6The only reason I have GOLD is for Netflix. I wish it was available on SILVER.
- Expl0siv0, on 07/01/2009, -1/+6I don't know if it's funny or sad that so many people apparently cannot read.
IF YOU HAVE GOLD IT IS FREE. IF YOU HAVE SILVER, IT IS NOT.
And if you're not paying for the XBL service to begin with, shouldn't you get limited features? - roxgod666, on 07/01/2009, -2/+7@GamergyGames
Way to post a retarded title. If you see that some words will be cut off, modify it. Now there will be hundreds of bitching diggers who didn't RTFA. - videodroner, on 07/01/2009, -1/+5God forbid a company makes a profit.
- xino, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5@DarkShroud I agree that PS3 games use a mix of dedicated servers and P2P, but they can still shut the game down. PS2 don't use PSN. For PS2, Capcom games ran on Capcom's network, EA games ran on EA's network, and other titles ran on gamespy's network, and Sony did their own games I believe. EA has shut down a number of their games both on Xbox and PS2. EA is the only one that can do this on Xbox and Xbox 360 because they run their own network along with Xbox Live.
- Thorpe, on 07/01/2009, -6/+10These comments do suck.
- Nosyn, on 07/01/2009, -1/+5Yup... That's what the paragraph under the title kind of says... lol. Too bad there's ads though.
- enantiodromia, on 07/01/2009, -8/+12I have wondered why there was no streaming music to game consoles for years now. This however, is a pitiful implementation.
- Tichondrius74, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4You can 13 months from walmart or newegg for 38 dollars. I guess 3 dollars a month is expensive though.
- Phyltre, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4See, Last.fm knows Metallica isn't a good band to start with and they aren't willing to reinforce your bad habits.
- BugMeNot2, on 07/01/2009, -5/+9Steam arguably provides an online gaming service as good as Xbox Live but is 100% free. PlayStation Network is free, too.
- gridbread, on 07/01/2009, -10/+14Payment for online play is stupid.
Enough said. - theonlywizdum, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4None of it goes back to the artists because the "artists" already sold their souls to the music labels. If they wanted to make money of their music they wouldn't give the rights to it away for peanuts.
