LEGAL KOMBAT! Midway Sued Over Mortal Kombat Rights

kotaku.com — Lawrence Kasanoff, the producer behind the Mortal Kombat movies, television show, and animated series has filed suit against Midway in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in order to make sure he retains series milking rights. This battle will not end in FRIENDSHIP.

    *cough* ***** *cough* The movie and TV shows gained in popularity from those who played in the arcade/consoles. The movies didn't make the game more popular...if anything the movies could have been named anything...since they were generic fighting movies that coincidentally had the likenesses of MK characters.

  • reflect23, on 06/25/2009, -2/+6I've got an MK2 cabinet at my house, gutted(it came gutted) and converted to a M.A.M.E. cabinet so I can play all the old arcade games and a lot of newer ones too. I installed a happ controls trac ball, for stuff like Golden Tee! Even though it's a lot of fun, arcades give you that environment feel that you don't get at my house, lol but it's awesome none the less. And You can do stuff like that on the cheap, like less than 300 bucks after all of the new controls/buttons and stuff. 50 bucks for the cab is what I paid, you can also get them for free if you find someone who just wants to get rid of it. Now the Wife Approval Factor (WAF) on the other hand, that can be a bit of a challenge, especially when you live in an apartment or small duplex, heh.

    legal combat would be combat that is in accordance with current laws, not combat over what those laws mean.
  • Elranzer, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2MK4 and MK4:Gold are underrated. Even though they're "3D" they play 2D-style with the links-combo system... essentially plays the same as the MK3 series. It's also wicked fast, probably the fastest one in the series.

    If you've got a Dreamcast, MK:Gold is a must-own.
