WTF is wrong with you? You think this is funny? How do you know he didn't work his ass off this past summer to save specifically for the console? What kind of lesson in life is this, that people will laugh at you for getting your ass kicked or think you're an idiot that deserved it for spending $450 on something that you don't want or need?
Just because you can't understand someone spending that much money on a "gaming consel" doesn't mean they deserved to get their ass kicked. You sound like one of the other kids that ripped him off....
You are a *****.. - THiNK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Does it matter how much money the guy makes, how he makes it or how long it took him to save?
Maybe he saved for a year, maybe he can afford to buy 20 xbox's without the blink of an eye, all thats irrelevant.
What is the point is how on earth people have the nerve to simply take things that are not thiers, let alone beat someone up for it.
This is a crewel world, and things like this are far to common.
Its a shame! And I for one feel sorry for this guy! - clevershark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Upon hearing about this Jack Thompson began masturbating furiously.
- arostad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2hahahah i used to live in Minot.. Damn thug town!
- Snarfy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The store has the serial number. It's probably even on the kid's receipt (for exchange purposes).
They should be able to catch them if they ever go on XBox live.
For everybody bitching that it's not funny, lighten up ;) It's sad about the kid, but I don't think anybody said getting mugged was funny.
What's funny is people want Xbox360's soooooooo much they are mugging each other for them at 12:01 am on opening day. That, as a general statement, is ***** hilarious. - panic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Brilliant! Why didn't I think of this? I've been trying to come up with a way to get an xbox360.. but they all involve money which I don't have. If you see me sitting outside of Walmart.. watch out..

I was just trying to make a point to coffee33 that perhaps this kid saved specifically for this purpose. Coffee33 indicated that he was a fool for spending that much money so in my mind, it was relevant.
It is a cruel world sometimes, but coffee33's apathy makes it ten times worse. - Aooogah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is just more fuel for Jack Thompson and his holy war against video games.
- ateoto, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Way to be an ass coffee33. I feel bad for the kid, apparently stories like this are popping up every now and then. In the state I live in supposedly an EBGames store was held up at gunpoint for the 360. IMO, paying $400 for something you want isn't stupid, but assualting kids and robbing stores for a game console is.
- Tbro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1GM isn't the largest company in the world.
It's Wal-mart, but I digress.

I wonder if he'll get one to replace it, I guess it depends on what the actual quantity in the store is. - Gregd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1coffee33
You mention in this post:
http://digg.com/deals/Google_Shares_Seen_Surpassing_$500_Mark
that you have 66 shares of google stock (which is probably *****, but I'll bite).
How bout I meet you down the street and kick your ass for them? - mwallace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Upon hearing about this Jack Thompson began masturbating furiously." -clevershark
That's the funniest thing I've read in a long time. - eth777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You know that things gotta have RFID all over it, check the code at the store, and start scanning around till it gets pickedup. Put Bigbrother to the test.
- UnderLoK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pre-order... Oh and GM is the largest company in the world, not MS... ;)
- krazyfiend, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1People are paying 400-450$ because they can keep it in the box and sell it on ebay for 800 - I really can't believe it but it's happened a couple times this morning 1500+$ ... for the premium system alone !!!
Wish i'd had three different stores and pre-orders at each. The ebay xmas pandemonium on these xbox 1.5's has begun. A shame, but heck i'd cash in on all the suckers willing to spend that sorta loot in a heartbeat.
Do people realize there is no hd-dvd drive in these ::rollseyes:: - haxr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's horrible. Hope those guys die a painful death in the near future. digg frontpage story: "Faulty power supply causes death by electrocution."
- sublime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whats up with the gun owners on here?
Dont you realize that if you use your gun to protect yourself from theft, you will lose your permit. If you discharge, you will be charged with (attempted) murder. You can only use your concealed weapon if you life in in danger. It does not cover being robbed unless the other person has a gun or other life threatening weapon. Am I wrong? - sublime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That being said,.. if you flash your gun on someone who is trying to steal from you, I doubt that person will go to the cops to turn you in for a CCW violation.
Im a gun owner in utah where anyone and their grandma can get a concealed permit. - clink0914, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that cracker deserved to get punked
- roy182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is very sad. But not unlike thousands of other instances around the world... elderly women getting beat up for several bucks...
- CoolJammer00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they found the robbers. i think. look on gamespot.
- unholy1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Actually it was Bill Gates himself who mugged the poor kid. Not only is Microsoft keeping demand high and supply low, they're also getting back the ones they do sell in order to generate more publicity. They also resell the ones they get back... double profit!
- mikereads, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Have you been to Minot before? That place is small. I'm suprsied they don't line every teenager up and check bloody knuckles.
- Silverbird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He should've used his dad's American Express card. Free protection if you purchase is lost, stolen or broken.
I feel sorry for the kid. Being the victim of crime sucks. Thats why I carry a P3AT - bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0About the gun issue, some pointers:
Keep your gun at home, don't fall for the temptation of carrying it with you, remember, your victim's family will get a lawyer to get you locked even if you were right. Now if a punk gets into your house shoot to kill, he is not there to give you a present, sometimes even if you wound him he would be able to sue you.
Get one of those visa cards that gives you insurance for your purchases.
And for crying out loud don't give a minor $450 dollars to buy stuff, you give them money they can afford to lose like the lunch money. This is almost the same that letting a minor play M games. - Reddog_x2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dont you realize that if you use your gun to protect yourself from theft, you will lose your permit. Depends on where the incident happens. The laws vary considerably. The attitude behind their enforcement of those laws varies even more. You just want to make sure you're properly licensed, registered and so on before you use your gun. The Feds do not screw around on that issue. Personally, I think the 2nd amendment is my gun permit. But, that may not stand up in court. - zuiquan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Many states also have escalation clauses, where if someone beats you with their fists and you pull a knife, you become the main offender. So whipping out your .357 will get you spanked in many places. Also realize that many people that actually have concealed carry permits are the last people that should be allowed to have them. A scared gun owner is something to be feared indeed, and many people with permits have them because they're afraid.
And as for the kid being in a dangerous part of town or any of that nonsense, there are no dangerous or shady parts of town in Minot. It's normally a totally safe place to be and I'd walk down any street any time of the day or night and not stress in the least bit. The punks that jacked him are sad individuals that should be kept away from society for a long, long time. - geoboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I hope that kid gets another free Xbox 360 from Bill Gates himself, because I'm sure ol' Billy G can relate to that poor kid...
- tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not laughing at the kid, but I'm laughing at the people who said this is Microsoft's fault. I feel bad for the kid and of course I would've tried to ***** kill the people if that happened to me. Seriously, though all the Microsoft haters have to blame every single thing on them. It's not Microsoft's fault, the kid should have brought his dad or something. I feel lucky to live in a pretty safe and small town with a Bestbuy nearby. I didn't get my hand on the 360, but I will after the prices drop.
- isbhod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Soooooooo. who do you sue? the assailants? No. the store that sold you the xBox? Maybe. Microsoft? YES! you always sue the people that have the money. Here's the deal kid, MS limited the number of Xboxes on purpose to generate buzz. This limitations means that some of the "i'll kick you ass and piss in your eye while i take your new xbox away from you" crowd didn't get a xbox, so therefore they beat you up and stole yours. If Ms would have releases enough in the first place this never would have happened. Sue MS and sue the store the sold you the Xbox for not warning you about the dangers of being the first kid on the block with a xbox 360.
- Bobthesleepless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, I have had severl robberies for PDAS, Ipods They where all carrying concealed weapons. In Tennessee Kentucky, Georgia, ALabama people can caryy them I dunno bout your state. I only arrested 2 people for shooting a gun. One had no permit. One shot a dog. So bout y'alls state but down hur people can caryy guns and use for any reason nessacary.(with limitations)
- andreizilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Man that sucks. I hope he at least _tried_ to defend his person, instead of curling up and crying.
People like that should be hanged (the people who jacked him.)
He should get a new XBox from Microsoft. That would be a nice thing for them to do, but they wouldn't do somthing like that. - outz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whats up with the gun owners on here?

Definitely wrong. The kid was 'assaulted' In most states your fists are considered a deadly weapon, so the attacker doesn't have to wield a knife/gun etc. - OrangeTide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good thing I have a gun. Bad thing is that California does not hand out concealed carry permits very easily. I guess no Xbox 360 for me!
- laughterkillsme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Microsoft's fault, the are purposely releasing fewer xboxes so that ***** like this gets em free publicity. ***** Microsoft, ***** Sony and ***** Religious nuts.
- mekalekahi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think its fair to say that the store has some liablity in this matter. If I got robbed in a Best Buy parking lot on an off hour because they are running a promo I think they ought to have refunded the young man or given him another machine. Most of these events where stampeding fans line up to recieve a product also have security guards who are there to stop them from stampeding. Someone please make a website for the kid and donate him an XBOX already.
PS One thing to learn, always leave the product inside the store when buying big electronics and ask to pull up and have employees put it in your car. - DeputyDawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I assume they stole a game or accessory too? Around here going over $500 makes the crime a felony.
- outz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is why I have my concealed weapons permit :)
If I was crazy enough to buy an xbox 360, I would love to see someone attempt to fight me for it. - mntpng, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think Mr. Gates should send him a replacement XBOX 360.
- bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0remember to wear your vest when you go to buy your new xbox, 0wn3d.
- Chewie67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There is just no excuse for this. Beating up a kid for a damned Xbox? The people who robbed this poor kid should be put in front of a firing squad. Society doesn't need people like that.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"this is Microsoft's fault. they intentionally kept supply low, prices high, and advertised the hell out of it to increase demand."
I agree it is M$ fault - sailor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Upon hearing about this Jack Thompson began masturbating furiously." -clevershark
now that is funny :p - _skin_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its to ***** cold in Minot to be messing around. Give the kid his xBox back yo!
- mercury81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0didn't the same thing happen when the PS2 was released?
- nstern2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Heck all of North Dakota is safe. Most people in this state don't even bother to lock the front door at night. This just shows you how greed corrupts people.
- PrometheuZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why can't people just wait a couple extra months to buy items like this, it's insane! The world has gone MAD!
- DeadlyCouncil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lame. I figured this would happen, partly because I know some guys planning to do it, but I live in MN so it wasn't them
- stantalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There is nothing worse in this world than a thief... I hope they both die a slow and painful death!
