- PwnisherX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+78Wii ♥ Katamari?
- punchingjudy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+57Oh! I feel it! I feel the Cosmos!
- wtfmate112, on 10/12/2007, -2/+33Now if they only put Katamari on the DS.
- airwalkery2k, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24I've died and gone to Nintendo heaven.
- contradictator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Man, imagine they slip in some Nintendo references. One bonus level could have you tearing thru the Mushroom Kingdom, rolling up coins and Goombas, or maybe Hyrule! Gah! Excited!
- CherryTzors, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Do do do do do do do do do
Do do do do do do do do do
Do do do do do do do do do
Katamari on the Wiiiiiiiiii. - JagoX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11...and the PSP version sucks. Trying to roll around the katamari with a D-pad and the 4-face buttons was in no way as fun as using 2 analog sticks.
- CBanga, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9It kind of is a BIG surprise if you keep up with gaming news and you remember this old interview with the creator of Katamari..
"GamaSutra: What do you think of the Wii?
Keita Takahashi: I'm not really interested in it. I don't think a controller should have that much influence on the enjoyment of games. I see what [Nintendo is] trying to do, but they're putting such emphasis on the controller; 'Woah, this controller lets you do this!' and I'm thinking - are you messing with us? So, there's nothing I really want to do with it right now."

Oh well, either way this is great news for Nintendo fans like me. - timpkmn89, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14Hold the Wiimote and tilt it to move the Katamari in the respective direction. It's like those old wooden games with the ball in the maze.
- Itazura, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Except that there is another version of Katamari comming out for ps3 and 360, just nobody on the digg talks about it because it isnt nintendo.
- tektalk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Naaaaa na na na na na nananana.....
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8They should have a free roam part of the game where you can just keep rolling things up until you roll everything in the cosmos.
- DBiz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12This was confirmed a week or two ago, so it's nothing new.
However, tilt control with my Wiimote and Katamari make for a great pair... Can't wait. - amyfox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"We are moved to tears by the size of this thing."
"We broke it. Yes, we were naughty. Completely naughty. So, so very sorry. But just between you and us, it felt quite good." - SkeletaLlama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah, he doesn't want to get trapped doing Katamari games forever. Personally I think he's making a huge mistake and alienating fans. People wanted a sequel and Namco had to twist his arm to make him do it. He's not showing a lot of love or appreciation for his fanbase and that's always a mistake. I'm sure he has other ideas he wants to try out but that doesn't mean he can't give us a few more Katamaris first.
- Soapdish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4No, it would probably be done with a wiimote-nunchuk combo. Same as using two joysticks, but with motion sensing instead.
- Renton, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10I originally bought a Gamecube for Super Smash Bros and Metroid Prime and it was the cheapest at the time. A few months ago, I bought a used Xbox for XBMC.
I never really got into PS2. - hartley, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12Not all of us. I'm in the same boat. 20+ consoles (including handhelds) and I don't have a ps2 yet either. The Box and Cube got my money first because of Live, and being a Nintendo fanboy (I'm able to admit Nintendo's mistakes, but I will blindly buy a system simply because it has Nintendo written on it). Ill buy one when I can get it for $50 *which is about what its worth to me.*
- Xarou, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5It is kinda dry in the beginning, but in the second game when you get to run around the world for I believe it is 10 mins, but don't quote me on that, and you can pick up islands. I got big enough to roll up the king, but the queen was eluding me. I'll get her yet!
- gundamoak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually i fit in the same boat. The first console I bought was a gameboy, n64, then XBOX. Now i have a 360 and PC. It had nothing to do with being cheap but simply that when I wanted to buy a new console (1 year after the ps2 came out) i chose XBOX over ps2, because i felt the xbox was better. That's my opinion.
- gormenghast, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5There is nothing I don't like about this headline.
- Charron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Well, I'm not a huge fan of the misspelling. :P
That said, this is a lot like the Guitar Hero "announcement" a little while ago: nothing new. Maybe, the November release date is new, but I thought we all knew Katamari was coming. - Deekman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I guess Orange Lounge Radio is right. Although I'm not gonna get this version I will get the PS3 (if I can afford one by then) or the 360 version though.
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -12/+14The source is a bit um.. absent, but great news if it's true. The PS2 is the only last gen console I don't have and I'd really love to see some of the PS2-only games appear on the Wii with a slight upgrade or two. It'd be nice if they'd release both Damacy and We ♥ Katamari together for the price of one game, but they probably want to milk us consumers too much to do that.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I always thought katamari would be best fit on a nintendo system. Kudos for nintendo for a great 3rd party grab.
- shiftless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't think I could have lasted another year without one of the most pleasant time-killers I've ever come across.
- nochilinopity, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3this news was broken by orange lounge radio
- grumbel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2When I remember correctly Takahashi didn't wanted to do the sequel We ♥ Katamari either and wasn't involved in the PSP at all if I recall correctly. That of course doesn't stop Namco from actually doing those things.
- xellxero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I love this time of the year when a ton of games and features are announced for consoles to reassure me that my 200+ was well spent.
- Guagloves, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3hooray this is going to be so much fun.
- FreydNot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Well, there is already a PSP version...
- mk32066, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1YES!!
- DelSolMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Let the hamster ball accessory rumors begin.
- grumbel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If the Wii has already enough games of a type, its the type of games where you roll a ball around by tilting the Wiimote. Now Katamari is all great and such, but whatever happen to the innovation?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Repetitive stress lawsuit go.
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sweet. I have always wanted to play this with having buy anything made buy Sony.
- NiGHTSChao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This shouldnt be a surprise to anyone
- tange1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4It would seem to make sense to use the same controls as Super Monkey Ball BB. For anyone who's not played it: The controls are exactly as timpkmn89 described.
- NiGHTSChao, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2its idiots like you that ruin the gaming industry
- adhd123, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yes! too bad i don't toke it up anymore... still gonna be fun though
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Whoa....I think I need to lay off the crack.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1HE does have a point. Specification-wise, the wii is the worst console. It's only advantage is the controller.
- directive0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If they did that I would probably voluntarily throw my remote through my television.
- daridave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sweet, awesome, great ... but I'm more interested in a DS version.
Katamari on-the-go, that's even better... :) - AshTR, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4I think it will be like the PS2's analog sticks. You tilt the nunchuck like the left analog stick and tilt the wiimote like the right analog stick.
Anyway....Katamari + Wii = Awesome. - lowlevel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Don't forget about $600-800 on games and accessories.
- ryanwarnersteel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Buried as a ***** dupe. This is 3 stories on the top 10. ***** man, read/listen more and post/talk less.
- xIOptimousIx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I cant wait they should have made it for the DS or even a xbox 360 arcade game
- dtkmike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i recon they might make the controls it so u have to actually push it... i.e. literally move ur right or left arm forward to turn, both at the same time to move forward... because the reason the made the wii mote as it is, is to make the games more involving, and so to just treat the nunchuck and wiimote as joysticks seems to me that they while makeing it simpler, wouldnt be using the controls to their full advantage.. thoughts?
- Absentee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0If the control system doesn't involve rolling around on the floor it would be the biggest injustice known to gaming.
Oh well, guess there's always drunken DDR. -
