- nklnch, on 10/12/2007, -8/+135Joystiq doesn't confirm. The article title says "rumor". Just more rumor without any official source or real news. Buried.
- Bobombom, on 10/12/2007, -6/+52"Fanboys screamed and raged, "Kojima-san owes way too much to Sony to stab them in the back like this, his honour would be tarnished forever and the Japanese care deeply about their honour."
Sony owes "Kojima-san" alot more than he owes Sony. - rockforever, on 10/12/2007, -7/+50Joystiq confirms there is a rumor that MSG might possibly be coming to the XBOX 360
- sparks2, on 10/12/2007, -7/+46So when noooz says so its a rumor... but when joystiq says that noooz says so it's confirmed!?
marked as inaccurate.. - Talus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+36That title is a bit inaccurate...
- Groovester, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36It isn't confirmed until Konami says it is.
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -26/+53Yes, it's inaccurate.
But it does raise an interesting question. How stupid would Konami be to throw millions of dollars behind a product that only a segment of the market could buy? There is no way that Sony is paying Konami more money than they could make if they were to market MGS4 to xb360 owners.
There will be a MGS4 on the Xbox 360. It might come out a year later, it might have a slightly different name, it might even come with extras or be a "Directors Cut", but there is *simply* too much money on the line for Konami to not consider a XBOX 360 release. And I hope they do, because I am tired of having to buy 3 video game systems every generation since the Genesis/SNES/Turbografx generation. - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+29Inaccurate. Not confirmed at all. It's joystiq reporting on noooz's fake article.
- madgamer01, on 10/12/2007, -6/+231. The Nooz story was already posted here, and was declared inconclusive.
2. Joystiq linking and discussing a story already declared inconclusive is once again deemed inconclusive.
3. This story shoud not be posted again until Konami gives a press release.
4. KTHXBAI - F9Phoenix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18A bit? I'm shocked this story is even getting picked up at all. It's an old rumor from an unreliable source.
- terminalpariah, on 10/12/2007, -8/+22Rumour or not, a publisher would have to be insane to stick with being Sony-exclusive at this point.
Hey Kojima-san, how about a PC port, too? :D - EochaidRiata, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15The PS3 is now msg-free for health reasons.
- aegis9975, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19I'm perplexed that people knowingly submit fake stories, and people knowingly digg them. Anybody with basic reading skills can see that nothing is "confirmed" and the word "rumor" is prominently shown on the title of the story.
I'm honestly shocked by the lack of shame some fanboys display on Digg. - Jimgress, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14why isn't this being buried?
seriously. This should be marked as inaccurate.
so why is it still frontpaged? - iameightyseven, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13It's official: People digg stories without actually clicking the damn link. How else can you explain the growing number of diggs?
- farther, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9SNES of humour required.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9It's because marking something as "inaccurate" does not do anything.
A few months ago, there was a storm of front page stories being very quickly down-modded as "inaccurate". It was not uncommon to see 2 stories PER PAGE with the "inaccurate" label right next to them. Since then, Digg has changed the algorithm, making it pretty much impossible to bury something as "inaccurate".
In the future, if you see anything is inaccurate, bury it as "lame". At least that DOES do something. - chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Final Fantasy XIII, God of War 3, don't make me go on. I love my 360, but it's a racer/shooter fest on that system with little else to be bothered with.
- aegis9975, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10>>You're completely right. The title is blatantly inaccurate and I knew this before submitting. Was just a small test to see if it would still make it to the frontpage. And it did.
At least you're honest, but this has been proven before. Fanboys will Digg any story regardless how truthful it is as long as the story perpetuates their spin on the news and reaffirms their belief. Perhaps there should be a system where after 50+ people mark it as inaccurate it really gets buried instead of the story continued to be dugg up by fanboys that knowingly digg a inaccurate story.
>>The article itself isn't technically inaccurate however and thus the post probably shouldn't be marked as such?
Actually, the source from Noooz isn't accurate to begin with. At the very least its a dupe. And you should know it because your Digg history shows that you already dugg the exact same story yesterday as you submitted today.
http://digg.com/users/gregharmon/dugg - totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Where is the "confirmation" again?
- iameightyseven, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Wow, Joystiq states it's a rumor, yet on digg it somehow turns into a confirmation?
- Mamesj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Info reported by Joystiq.com via noooz.com? Buried.
Joystiq is a blog that wants to be a news site and this "story" is just wishful thinking. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Someone needs to read the article before posting it. It's not a confirmation, just coverage of the rumor the Noobz site.
Inaccurate. - weezerrock86, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Joystiq didn't confirm this story its just a re-hash of what we have seen over the past few days. Though it would be great to see MGS4 on the 360 would save me from buying both and PS3 and Xbox360 please Konami have mercy on my wallet and make this happen.
- joaob, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12"How about nooooooooooooooo, Scott"
- xBBx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10It's just a rumor, and it's been dugg since this morning:
http://digg.com/gaming_news/MGS4_Coming_Out_For_Xbox_360_For_Real - CanceledCzech, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Because no one actually reads the articles, they just digg them after reading the title.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13At this point? It's a year until it comes out. Rest assured 360 will have a smaller lead over the PS3 in the US when 360 has been out 2 years and PS3 has been out 1 than when 360 has been out 55 weeks and PS3 3.
And in Japan, PS3 will likely have a larger lead, since it passed up 360's entire sales in two weeks (Wii did it in 1 day). - sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8The implications of this, if it's true, is pretty big. MGS is one of the biggest sellers on the PS platform, if they were to lose exclusivity, it would hit them pretty hard.
There would be absolutely no reason for one to purchase a PS3 if other companies followed suit, unless you want a cheap Blu-Ray player to play movies you don't even own. Microsoft sells more Xbox360's, pushes the HD-DVD drives, and Sony loses the battle.
I can hear millions of Playstation fanbois screaming in unison, and it's music to my ears. Sony is the antichrist of electronics, sorry ladies. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"You're completely right. The title is blatantly inaccurate and I knew this before submitting. Was just a small test to see if it would still make it to the frontpage. And it did."
As much as I would like to see MGS4 on the 360, doing ***** like this on purpose is what's making digg go down the *****. - rcomegys, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8here here. I can't for the life of me imagine what HE owes THEM. It seems to me his team busted their asses to make MGS2 look as sweet as it did, which probably sold millions of consoles (everyone thought that all games would look that sweet, though it's still one of the best, if not the very best looking game on that system).
- chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10Konami confirms it's PS3 exclusive. Random guy says it's not. Digg agrees with random guy.
- icealchemist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Funny how none of the new comments from Konami denying this aren't making the frontpage.
- InfinitySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6"It's still a rumor but I do expect it to become a reality. It's just too expensive to make a PS3 exclusive right now."
Which is why the game is being released a year from now. - DarkJC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Konami has already squashed it, read the Joystiq article.
"Konami's PR simply said, "Metal Gear 4 [sic] is a PS3 title."
I'm not sure why this continues. - DanielNielsen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4http://computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=152210&skip=yes
Its not coming, at least not for now. - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Suck on this you gullible *****: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=152210
Humble pie for you! - diafel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4How many people need to mark this as inaccurate for it to show up? Digg is broke
- DarkJC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41. True, except the PS3 is still outselling the 360 in Japan even with Blue Dragon.
2. True, but MGS4 won't be released until late 2007 (not sure what numbers will be like then)
3. Assassins Creed wasn't canceled for PS3, they just started developing a 360 version in tandem with the PS3 version. This doesn't have anything to do with ease of development.
4. Unless you're a programmer on both this is baseless. Porting is still more work than not porting at all.
5. MGS2: Substance was released on XBox, note much much later than the original MGS2 release. MGS3: Subsistence has yet to be released on the XBox.
Not that I'm saying it's impossible that MGS4 will make it to 360, I'm simply refuting your points. - staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7"Do you guys PREFER to buy multiple gaming systems? Why wouldn't it be awesome to play Halo 3 on the PS3 or MGS4 on the 360?"
Not really. Competition is a good thing. Exclusives are a good way to net themselves a section of the market. At the same time it could be a boon as well. - ReCkLeSsX, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11I don't see the confirmation anywhere.
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The only confirmation here is that 360 fanboys are wishing they can play MGS4 on the 360.
- staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4 GTA4 was an exclusive? Can you post a link in which Rockstar and/or Sony claimed GTA4 to be an exclusive?
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Breaking news : http://digg.com/gaming_news/360_Metal_Gear_Solid_4_solidly_denied_for_now
- CanceledCzech, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Read the story before commenting, bro.
- sephiroth4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's "AMAZING" how the consumer now has to make up rumors to get the products they want. iPhone, non exlcusivity, etc. If only the same were for politics and such.
-Im prepared for burial as I still don't understand the digg communities ratings. - modifiedbears, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i didn't know kramer was a gamer
- iameightyseven, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4What the... why are people still digging this?
- trunk8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You lost me at "Joystiq confirms" ...
- DarkJC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You make a good point liquilife. What will be interesting is whether MGS4 actually uses the space provided by Blu-ray. Assuming it does get released for 360 (either at launch or at a later date) will it require a bunch of DVDs?
