- wily6, on 12/01/2008, -15/+333Still needs more cow bell.
- replaysMike, on 12/01/2008, -30/+281Still needs Wifi.
- akchrs, on 12/01/2008, -87/+176Still needs Blu-Ray.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -26/+108No, it doesnt. I would rather my game console be first and foremost about playing games. If I wanted a BR player, I would buy one. Focusing on BR has cost Sony dearly in this round of consoles.
- dekuscrub, on 12/01/2008, -5/+72The lack of built in Wifi really bugs me.
The Wii even has built in Wifi. Hell, the freaking Nintendo DS has built in Wifi. There is no excuse for the Xbox 360 to not have this feature. - jamesdew, on 12/01/2008, -5/+53the Wii has no ethernet, that bugs me
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -25/+64That's strange. Price, better games, and a better online experience is why I chose 360 over the PS3.
- kinseyincanada, on 12/01/2008, -0/+34plug the cables back in.
- Gwydion, on 12/01/2008, -9/+42Quit bitching about who's console is better. You like your console? Good, now shut up and go enjoy it.
- forcedfx, on 12/01/2008, -6/+38Yeah, let me go hang a WRT54G off of an XBOX to make it wireless... that's not unsightly at all.
- daschupa, on 12/01/2008, -6/+37It still bugs the hell out of me that the wifi adapter is 99 bucks, I mean, a hundred f-ing bucks? For a crappy wifi card? That I'll need to pay another 50 bucks to play my games online? When you make Sony look generous, you've got problems.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -13/+39Well, this is the first proof, no one had decided to whack open a 360 before now, but apparently since September they have already been around:
http://joeygadget.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads ...
http://joeygadget.com/2008/09/29/jasper-equipped-x ...
Anything above lot 0831 had Jasper apparently.
Plus RROD has pretty much been eliminated since Falcon Rev. 3 afaik. - handheldchimp, on 12/01/2008, -5/+27Just to let you guys know:
The arcade units no longer come with a memory card. The internal flash is now the memory card, which sort of defeats the purpose. On the retail box it now says 256mb memory unit again. They had recently said 512mb memory unit. The 256mb is built onto the board now to accommodate the NXE update. - eelwrolyat, on 12/01/2008, -5/+23Does this mean when I send in my 6th Xbox to Microsoft for repairs they will upgrade it to Jasper? I hope so.
- Darrelc, on 12/01/2008, -1/+19I just play my consoles, you lot should try it :
- MrTankJump, on 12/01/2008, -10/+27Sony is still losing a lot of money per console sold, and they aren't making enough money through their games either. Publishers know that people are more willing to buy the cheaper console, then the games for it, so the publishers are making more games for the 360(well the wii technically, but most of those suck). This in turn gives the 360 a better library of good games, and not movies, which don't matter because we all download those through netflix on our 360's anyways.
- forcedfx, on 12/01/2008, -27/+43Different strokes for different folks.
Blu-ray, free online gaming, and the built in wireless are what got me to choose the PS3 over the 360. - pixelate, on 12/01/2008, -3/+18@MCA2142
I'm all for the same old console v. console arguments, but saying you've never experienced lag on Xbox Live is like saying you took a three-week cruise and didn't notice the ocean was involved.
/happy 360 owner - TonyCubed, on 12/01/2008, -3/+16If another person mentions Blu-ray, I will literally scream. What the ***** has Blu-ray got to do with a 'Gaming Console' exactly? While yes, you can argue the 'Storage' argument. That doesn't justify Sony punching people in the face and making everyone look like a complete tit by "thinking" this is what a lot of people want.
It's a GAMING CONSOLE! Sony is running a monopoly for it's Blu-ray player. Yay, more ***** DRM. Give me back my old Genesis and NES/SNES. Things were much simplier back then. Oh, btw, I don't own either of the consoles. So don't excuse me of being a ***** fanboy. - SgtQuackers, on 12/01/2008, -2/+15They never promised a Blu-ray add on. It was just a rumor that Microsoft crushed every time it came out.
- jslice, on 12/01/2008, -3/+16The website you referenced is known bad information. None of the posters on xbox 360 drives had photos of the "jasper" chip. Also one of the boards is listed as "calendar week 79"....
- roxya, on 12/01/2008, -4/+16Yeah, because when you're in a rented place and aren't allowed to drill holes or bang nails into walls, having an ethernet cable traveling through the whole flat is a fantastic solution.
- dnasty27, on 12/01/2008, -4/+16By going into your local electronics store (or a store with an electronics section), bringing it to the counter, and paying them for the good.
- Rockkybox, on 12/01/2008, -4/+16The fact that the d pad is rarely used isn't an excuse, its still awful
- DTJunkie07, on 12/01/2008, -5/+16I bought my 360 about 2 1/2 years ago and it has been amazing..not a single problem, till now :( I bought the orange box and about half way into half life 2 the colors started to screw up and everything had a weird shaded look to it then some slight flickering occured....so i took out the cables from the back of my tv and now i cannot get a picture...what should i do? Is it under warrenty?
- aDJsavedmylife, on 12/01/2008, -23/+33@ Price [...] is why I chose 360 over the PS3.

For the record I have a 360, I wish I'd bought a PS3 though. - MCA2142, on 12/01/2008, -4/+14D-pads in modern games aren't really used for "Direction." Most use I've gotten out of the D pad is the occasional pushing of "Up" for inventory and such. That is why the PS3 and the 360 feature dual analog sticks. And on the 360, you get sticks with concave surfaces. Unlike the PS3's analog sticks, your thumbs don't slip off as easy on the 360.
RROD has been addressed awhile back. It's mostly the first adapters that are facing this issue. That doesn't mean it's right. I'm just saying that it's rare on newer models like the Elite. - lcmatt, on 12/01/2008, -1/+11It's a GPU failure. My last 360 died in the same way. While you haven't got the RROD Microsoft still covers the fault or if you have in store warranty still take it to them.
- zip000, on 12/01/2008, -3/+13I'd rather my equipment have wireless than to have to buy a second wireless router.
- kinseyincanada, on 12/01/2008, -1/+10thats not true they still have a memory card.
- inajeep, on 12/01/2008, -1/+10Money is the excuse.
- Blandyman, on 12/01/2008, -1/+10If you don't know where it's from, you're obviously on the wrong planet.
- oldhat, on 12/01/2008, -10/+18Oh, I'm sorry, you didn't hear?
Blue ray is a flop. Nobody buys it. Nobody cares. Old DVD looks great on HD tv, no problems. Up-sample if needed.
And video games look fantastic already. And we are going to download everything pretty soon anyway.
Blue Ray beat HD-DVD, but they still lost to old crappy DVD. How embarrassing. - vpshockwave, on 12/01/2008, -1/+9Fred, go back to fourth grade and pay attention in math class.
- MxM111, on 12/01/2008, -2/+10And why WiFi network is not proper?
- jeuhrn, on 12/01/2008, -3/+11My Elite falcon got hit with perpetual overheating (Only half the ring turns red), within 20 seconds after bootup.
So yeah, they still die. If i was buying one now, I'd make sure it's a new one. - Barackalypse, on 12/01/2008, -11/+19Go slap DD-WRT onto a cheap wifi router and follow these instructions to setup a wireless bridge and make your Xbox wireless:
http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials/article.php/3 ... - RyomaNagare, on 12/01/2008, -2/+10Is this console any quieter than the previous ones,
I mean 65nm means less heat, maybe less rpms of the fans?
no? - ninjadave, on 12/01/2008, -2/+10And possibly ending up with a non-Jasper Xbox360. You must not have read the article.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -3/+11Two girls in one cup.
- kihadat, on 12/01/2008, -5/+12Slap yo face!
- handheldchimp, on 12/01/2008, -1/+8What are you, two?
- KibibyteBrain, on 12/01/2008, -2/+9Quite fankly, when you do the math, gaming is probably the cheapest practical hobby out there. It costs about $2 an hour at most to game($1 for software, $1 for supporting hardware). Compare that to any other hobby, its hard to beat. Can do it(library books are a good choice), but hard. But just because going to $25 concerts and stuff as a way to spend a night is more mainstream in our culture while buying $300 game consoles is not, the second group is irrationally spurned during a downturn.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -0/+7Same here, but I'm not sorry. Still a great console.
- theblackgecko, on 12/01/2008, -0/+7Why are you hating on the Turbographix-16, you SNES / Genesis fanboy?
- PhillAholic, on 12/01/2008, -2/+8@LucasJ218 I think you better hook a VCR back up to your TV, because the difference between VHS and DVD is a lot better than you think it is. Not just in picture quality, but how about convenience. You actually had to fast forward and rewind a tape, not a DVD. You have something there with sound, but I don't think most people will even take advantage of it. I'm not so sure the difference between DVD and Blu-ray is quite as good as VHS to DVD, especially with upconverting DVD players. I'd say price has a lot to do with it as well. Who honestly wants to pay $40 for a movie that they can get for half that on DVD when we are accustom to watching stuff on youtube or hulu? I do buy blu-ray movies, but only when I get a deal on them, I refuse to pay $40 for a movie when my PS3 upscales DVDs to my 720p TV just fine. Maybe when I upgrade to a 1080p set I'll change my mind, but right now it's just not worth it most of the time.
- chaon93, on 12/01/2008, -1/+7almost all the noise is in the dvd drive in the first place.
- c89a, on 12/01/2008, -2/+8i love you
- jthei, on 12/01/2008, -0/+6For just under fourteen cents a day, less than the price of a cup of coffee, you too can sponsor PleasantKiller. Your money will go toward clean water and basic necessities like the opportunity to pwn noobs and bad mouth strangers in a pseudo anonymous environment.
