This is the worst sort of media-whoring by Thompson and his anti-video-gaming allies. Video games do not kill. Video game sales continue to sky-rocket...yet murders per population continue to fall. Explain that. To call video games murder simulators is ridiculous as well. Its simply old rhetoric applied to the new media of video games. Comic books were likewise attacked like this back in the fifties with "Seduction of the Innocent" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seduction_of_the_inno ... Individuals with social and mental problems commit murder. They do so more efficiently with the aid of poorly enforced fire-arms laws and minimal mental health screening in our educational, social, and justice systems. Address these issues and you may prevent similar tragedies. Blame video games and you only increase the likelihood these underlying issues will be ignored and this will all play out again and again until our society addresses them.

It's a tragedy that it happened all-together and this only adds to it. I feel for those people who were affected in any way, especially people I know that have friends and loved ones that were involved (an old friend's girlfriend was injured, but not killed in the attack).

I'm at Virginia Tech and I play counter-strike, grand theft auto, medal of honor, bioshock, and all that good *****... it doesn't mean I'm going to go out and buy a gun down the street, or a ***** ton of ammo off eBay, proceed to carjack someone, find a hooker, have sex with her, then kill her and take my money back, then shoot a bunch of people etc. The people that do this ***** are CRAZY to start off with. The only problem is that you can't tell who is crazy or about to snap. At that point, all you can do is make it more difficult for the population as a whole to get their hands on these weapons. Just think, someone who has never been crazy before, bottles up all their anger, then decides, "hey, there's a gun store down the street with a sale on automatic handguns" and "oh wow, how convenient, eBay has the ammo for my gun at half the cost! sweet! I'll order twice as much"
