- smazany, on 10/12/2007, -1/+123Wow. I applaud you, George of Gamer Andy. Well played, well played indeed.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+70*slow clap*
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+56No kidding. Somebody please explain to me why his parents haven't been fined for urinating in the gene pool.
- StarManta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+54I love Jack Thompson, there are few comedians as funny as he is.
Wait, he's not a comedian?
***** me. - Aloyarc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+54Duggmirror checks the referer. It's all good.
- Steve519, on 10/12/2007, -0/+42great work george, be sure to let us know if anything comes from this
- MobbyG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+42@Jack Thompson
I'm a father and a gamer. I'll save my own kids thank you. I don't need you telling me what my kid can and can't play. In essence, get bent! - Gunegune, on 10/12/2007, -4/+43"@Gunegune

That's cool. Never knew it could do that. Sorry guys. - Hootyea, on 10/12/2007, -4/+42@Gunegune

- Neoanarchist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+35@HappyScrappy(and everyone else for that matter):
The point is that Jack, while partially right but only from misunderstanding, resorted to extreme measures and scare tactics instead of civilized conversation.
While in some people's opinions I'm sure George went overboard. However considering the childish way Jack acted when he received a civilized request for conversation, I can see George getting upset at another petty shot.
Essentially Jack is adding insult to injury, however unsuccessfully, by threatening to sue over such a ridiculous matter after having behave as he did over a letter and some flowers.
Look at it from this perspective. Jack Thompson is fighting to "save our children". So that we can all grow up and be like him? Where we fight for what we believe even if it means stonewalling any other opinion and behaving in a childish manner. Frivolous lawsuits over the definition of employ are something you would not expect from a man who claims to fight for the betterment of our race.
No matter what direction you look at the bigger picture from, the true responsibilities fall upon the parents to educate their children as to what is right and wrong. In a country where the divorce rate is over 50% it's no wonder kids aren't getting proper upbringings. Jack Thompson is attempting to turn America into the land of the freedom from responsibility. His philosophy teaches children and adults alike, that if someone provides it, you have to use it and should any harm come from it, its not your fault even though you bought/procured it.
This isn't to say that game companies should spew as much filth into the market as possible. Even though I'm an younger gamer, I believe we should make it harder for children to acquire mature games and fully support the ESRB rating system.
Ok, I'm finished with my rant! Carry on! :) - manfrin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32http://duggmirror.com

Gunegune's link is still useful, because the referer doesn't work for everyone. People using proxy servers, privacy software, or certain browser configurations will not send the Referer header with their request. - Sixcolors, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19"I remember when the "digg effect" was called the "slashdot effect". why does digg attempt to copy everything slashdot does, but make it slightly crappier."
If digg is so "crappy", why the hell are you still here? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19is this jerk off still around?
why doesn't he shut the ***** up and stop trying to make everybody live by his rules? - mfratt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17He actually believes that video games cause murders... uh... okay...?
Someone either is or is not whacked enough to go on a shooting spree. Playing GTA isnt going to change that. So some people who commited murder played GTA, big deal. Does driving a car cause murder? Does eating pizza?
Oh and Im sure you can really "practice" your sniper rifle skills on that PS2 controller or keyboard/mouse... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15I highly doubt Gamer Andy(A very small[But Growing] game website) expected something as big as a digg effect.
That and they are having bad relations with their hosting as it is. - Dominatus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15you win this round, george
- FluxHarmonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14These two should duke it out like Uwe Boll and his critics.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Thompson needs to actually pick up a game sometime and learn to play it... then he'll see just how much of a "murder simulator" they are. You can play GTA for days at a time and you'll still get your ass kicked if you actually try to steal a car... No one learns how to shoot with a PS2 controller - it's not possible.
We have the same video games up in Canada. Strangely enough, gamers aren't shooting people up. - netdroid9, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Exactly. It's like having unprotected sex and then sueing the person you had sex with when an unwanted pregnancy occurs.
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -11/+22I prefer when the link is to the specific duggmirror. Otherwise, I can't open it in a new tab (referrer doesn't work when I open in new tab).
- JaytB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Well it's only discussed on about every comments page that has a duggmirror
- masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10@Aloyarc:
Wow, I didn't know that. That's a nifty feature. - SystmBetatester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9well, theres so much i could rant to jack thomson about.... hmm maybe i can get him to sue me for slander? jack thomson molested little children. what a fag.
woot. do i get a 'sued by jack thomson' shirt now? story has been dugg. - emja, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12@mcatrage said "Jack Thompson gives lawyers and bad name. now thats saying something"
Not only that but Jack Thompson (like G W Bush) gives Christians a bad name.
I absolutely hate being associated with dimwits like those guys. - Sixcolors, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Very true, and it is up to responsible parents to make sure their kids aren't playing violent games. Not Jack Thompson and not the government. Punishment is supposed to fit the crime, not the "potential" crime.
- BatFreak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Well done - Jack Thompson is a small, narrow minded man.
- JohnnyOso, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Jack did not use that exact phrase, but he did convey the same idea. I can, for example, say I want to eat dinner with someone and go have supper with someone: The idea here is the same, but the wording.
"Take-Two and Blank Rome have thus knowingly incited, through your coordinated antics"
"Now your collaborators send me flowers."
So two points to Jack for figuring out that words are different, but I'm gonna have to give him a negative ten for missing the point. - DiamondIce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I've seen the "digg effect" take YouTube to its knees when YT was in its hey-day. How's that for powerful?
- AF-Geek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It's always great to see a bully try to threaten a strong man and said bully get smacked down!. ;-)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8i say we just feed him and egg him on until the stress kills him.
this guy gets worked up over anything. i'm going to release a game called jacks dead where you run around slashing the throats of anti gaming lawyers. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10"the sending of sexual aid products to my wife and me at our home"
what the ***** is he bitching about, he's getting free stuff that's really useful.
oh right he's one of those religous types that thinks god will hate him if he uses his dick. - Skeuomorph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Hmm, the duggmirror doesn't load either.
However, Firefox 2.0rc2 seems to keep the "referer" when opening in a new tab. - netdroid9, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8When you get threatened with a lawsuit by one of the most well-known anti-gaming lawyers there is, I hope you get pissed off and do something like what George did. Because if you don't do something like what George did, aforementioned lawyer will have you sent to PITA prison.
- tomi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10http://digg.com/tech_news/Stop_posting_full_DuggMirror_links_it_can_detect_the_referrer
Maybe people will figure it out once it hits the frontpage. *sigh* - theturkish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Sorry for the slow load time, our host is having issues with our server box and it should be resolved (i.e. we're being moved to a much more powerful box... freaking finally) within the next 8 hours
- Harabeck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Havn't you taken communications? The meaning of a message is determined by the receiver, not the sender. Jack's message came across a certain way. Even if that's not what he intended, that's what he said.
- meshgiath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I swore once to never digg anything with Jack Thompson's name on it.
This is worth a digg ) +1 - JackHallows, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6jackpeace@comcast.net is his email, if anyone is interested. (I already knew it but in case anyone wonders, it's also all over the internet)
But if you can't be polite and intelligent, don't send him anything, because that will only fuel his fires. - happyfappy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Anybody got Jack's address handy?
- klparrot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hey, it's for the best if Jack thinks God will hate him for using his dick. We don't want him passing along his genes.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7sorry, but even if george is wrong which he isn't, he doesn't need to provide jack ***** to jack because nothing about claiming employment is slander. incorrect maybe, but not grounds to sue.
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6"Not only that but Jack Thompson (like G W Bush) gives Christians a bad name.

Amen to that. Our reputation is bad enough as it is. - Strokke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5***** Jack Thompason
- jccalhoun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6"I remember when the "digg effect" was called the "slashdot effect". why does digg attempt to copy everything slashdot does, but make it slightly crappier."

"Otherwise, I can't open it in a new tab (referrer doesn't work when I open in new tab)."
What browser are you using? I have no problems opening in a new tab using firefox in windows. - Combathangar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ive just got one silly question, just one, but it struck me the minute I started to read JTs little rant......just when did Jack Thomson come under the impression that sending an email somehow qualifies as a satisfactory legal way to notify someone of an official request for disclosure of evidentiary facts with an impossed legal time constraint?
Just wondering - Falldog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Need more rich text.
