- nailPuppy, on 02/04/2009, -1/+184Having Jack Thompson personally call you an *****, bravo. That man has problems.
- Harabeck, on 02/04/2009, -1/+115It's so humorous that Jack thinks he's in the right. He calls Pete Haas a druggy and a hooligan (to paraphrase), but it's ole Jack that's making the childish ad hominim attacks. I salute Pete for pwning Jack with his own words.
- mrgarci1, on 02/05/2009, -0/+79It's not often that you get a chance to call someone out with their own words like that, and its even less often that someone like Thompson emails you, basically asking for a beating. Well played, sir, I would have done the same thing.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -1/+72From their comments, "Mr Thompson has more unresolved issues than a season of Lost.". I laughed pretty heartily.
- JonTheGoose, on 02/05/2009, -1/+66Ugh, why is anyone still talking about Jack Thompson. He isn't even relevant anymore. He's become a parody of himself. I just want to forget he ever existed.
- S7aind, on 02/05/2009, -0/+64Mental Masturbation? I like it.
"What do you want to do later?"
"Let's mentally masturbate to Call of Duty!" - nik707, on 02/05/2009, -0/+51Anyone have any "gaming drugs"? I need to go "mentally masturbate"!
- Akairenn, on 02/05/2009, -1/+49Or, you know, parents could stop being worthless and actually pay attention to that nice little ratings box on the cover.
Or would that be too much work? - inactive, on 02/05/2009, -1/+46"Blend:We don't say the word "dude" anymore. "Bro" is now the preferred slang term. As in: "Hey bro, let's snort grandpa's meds and then play violent video games so as to improve our killing acumen."
Thompson:You can say whatever you want, and I'll say what I want. What are you, the language Nazi? Actually, "*****" fits you perfectly. I'll use that.
Blend: Just want to make sure you're using the most up-to-date slang. Otherwise, you might just end up looking like an uninformed jackass. "
***** classic. - 0260, on 02/05/2009, -0/+42Someone who is not me, obviously.
- Radica1Faith, on 02/05/2009, -0/+42You know, I have the sneaking suspicion that Jack Thompson actually works for Rockstar and this is all just an elaborate scheme to make people against video game violence look retarded.
Mission accomplished. - meretrice, on 02/05/2009, -0/+41yah... but whose death?
You aren't exactly clear on that point. - 0260, on 02/05/2009, -5/+44I disagree with what he says but i will defend to death his right to say it.
- senae, on 02/05/2009, -2/+40Stop it. Stop making this terrible man a celebrity.
- Radica1Faith, on 02/05/2009, -0/+37I love how when he realizes he lost he just spouts off: "Get a life, gamer dude. Seriously. " As if he wasn't the one that e-mailed him in the first place.
- Coestar, on 02/05/2009, -0/+35Do we sell rated R movies in stores? Yes.
Should parents buy them for, or stores sell them to, kids? Probably not.
Do they? Yes.
Is that the movie makers' faults? No.
Is there a controversy about this? No.
So why the controversy about games? Games are even more clearly labeled than movies, so there's no excuse. It's not the game developers' faults if some parents are too dumb to read the ratings or if a store clerk decides to be lazy.
I'd say it's Jack Thompson who's not living in reality. Case closed. - mrgarci1, on 02/05/2009, -2/+28Read the article. He mentions verifying the email address with an editor at a different site.
- Claverhouse, on 02/05/2009, -1/+26"Tell them I hope they all either repent or die immediately."
Actually, that's a rather superb line. - visionaryIX, on 02/05/2009, -1/+26I still say 'dude'.
- CaptOblivious, on 02/05/2009, -1/+26Jack,
sockpuppetry is generally frowned upon on the internet.
You're the real world version of a forum troll, you've already had your teeth pulled, just go away.
I know you want attention, perhaps you should try getting it from your wife and family instead of trying to run other peoples businesses and lives. - murrdpirate, on 02/05/2009, -6/+30Buried for complaining about burial.
- CorporateMartyr, on 02/04/2009, -7/+30Jack Thompson deserves to be hated!
- dty2010, on 02/05/2009, -2/+25"esp the modern world which is far more violent then any non Modern world"
I assume you haven't taken any history classes? - miggyb, on 02/05/2009, -0/+21I want that line in GTA V.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+20Personally, towards the end I'd have asked Thompson how it felt to get disbarred and have his license to practice law taken away from him. Then again, that probably would make me the *****.
- Dauntless1, on 02/05/2009, -1/+21Exactly. You don't want to get pwned in a mental battle of wits, don't get into a fight with random people on the internet. Especially since I've met children with more wit than Jackass Thompson.
- Tonicks, on 02/05/2009, -0/+19Have you ever thought that Jack Thompson is just one super-elaborate troll, and the joke is on us?
How's that for a conspiracy theory? - GenericJoshman, on 02/05/2009, -0/+19This is so much better than all of those ***** Christian Bale articles that have been flooding the front page.
- TaylorTAP, on 02/05/2009, -0/+18HAHAHA our world is far more civilized then any ancient culture. Maybe you should read a history book or watch the History channel more often?
- sals-a, on 02/05/2009, -0/+18I had totally managed to forget about this guy. Why is he being given more coverage, even the negative kind?
- Zervaman, on 02/05/2009, -0/+17Jack Thompson, ex-attorney at law, here to save the day from drug-crazed video gamers!
- skywake, on 02/05/2009, -0/+16The best bit is where he quotes a poll (likely an internet poll) to make a point and then later a quote is brought up where he had said "I don't base my opinions on polls". I don't think either of them noticed this but I got a laugh out of it. :P
- BigSusan, on 02/05/2009, -0/+14How did he get his law degree again?
This guy sounds dumber every time i hear him speak - Dauntless1, on 02/05/2009, -0/+14Well, I don't know if you've caught on yet, but here in America we have a tradition of making terrible, worthless hypocrites celebrities. We call them "Politicians".
- PacificStandard, on 02/05/2009, -4/+17***** Jack Thompson
- Dauntless1, on 02/05/2009, -0/+13Cause he's kind of like a train wreck in progress, it's horrible but you can't look away.
- FasterGun, on 02/05/2009, -2/+15Yes, you are freaking out
man. - Dauntless1, on 02/05/2009, -0/+13@CaptOblivious
Aww, c'mon. You know he's just angry that even gamers get laid more than he does. He's the original "It's not bad parents, it's bad video games" ***** that parents flock to because they're afraid the world will find out they care more about getting a promotion or new SUV than taking care of their kids. - inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+13I'm starting to believe Jack Thompson is a fictional character.
- Dauntless1, on 02/05/2009, -0/+12Exactly. So let me get this straight, I kill virtual people in a non-realistic world, and I'm a mindless killer/drug addict/*****. But, you wish real death on real people in the real world, and you're somehow better than me? Epic Fail.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -1/+12Jack Thompson spends his weekends playing GTA IV.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -2/+13syntax,,,,gs,,,ive been reading about thisguy and he seems,,,,to be diggs flamebait king,,,,I[m not sure if hes actually a troll or 10years old or mentally,,,,,handicapped,,,,,
- Tollan, on 02/05/2009, -0/+10"The vast majority of all video games are nothing but time wasters, mental stimulation for no reason other than stimlation."
Couldn't the same be said for almost all forms of entertainment, including the arts and sport? - Flaptastic, on 02/05/2009, -0/+10Jack Thompson isn't relevant; he isn't even a lawyer anymore. He is a joke, but one that people still laugh at. The problem is that some people equate fame with credibility. Granted, those people are complete morons but sadly the world is full of them.
- raccooncoffee, on 02/05/2009, -0/+10to add to that:
Do R rated movies have real nudity? Yes
Do M rated games have real or virtual nudity? No
So a game with just suggestive sex is automatically rated M. But we can show the same thing with real people on a tv show on a main network and it be rated TV-14. So please Jack Thomson tell me how that works. - Dauntless1, on 02/05/2009, -0/+9Well, he should have seen it coming at this point. What, we're supposed to be OK with him calling the entire gaming community retarded mindless drug addicts with no future, or telling the world we'll all be serial killers someday if you don't take our video games away, but someone saying ***** you is a problem? If he was looking to make a real point and not just be a worthless *****, he passed that point awhile ago.
- fakeplasticsnow, on 02/05/2009, -1/+10Yes, but I have the right to challenge and mock what he says. I don't think anyone here is trying to take away his rights, we just hate the man.
- MikeSD34, on 02/05/2009, -0/+9I like how he confuses correlation and causation, lying with statistics is fun.
- TheHod, on 02/05/2009, -0/+9dugg, i like to see people like jack thompson make asses of themselves.
- jonathanseely, on 02/04/2009, -3/+11Interesting. His first couple of replies were reasonably well-worded. Not sure how I would take a "***** Seelowitz" campaign, so I'm apt to not blame him for his reaction :-}
