It's official: Mega Man is the most milked series ever

blog.capcom.com — In the recent "Gamer's Edition" Guinness World Records book, the Mega Man series was certified with the record of "Most Number of Games in a Single Series." That's not too hard to believe -- there were about a million Mega Man games in the main series and various spinoff series before the DS, and the DS games have been coming in multiples.

      There must be some loophole here. It must be the wording series instead of franchise because mario has been the most milked character ever.

      Street Fighter II was re-released 5 times:

      +Street Fighter II - Hyper Fighting
      +Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers
      +Super Street Fighter II Turbo
      +Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition

      Then there was Street Fighter Alpha which was overhauled and re-released as:
      +Street Fighter Alpha 2 (Yeah that's right. They added 5 new characters and re-released the game as a sequel to itself!) which was re-released once:
      +Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold

      Then there was Street fighter III released in three editions:
      +Street fighter III: New Generation (This is the original.)
      +Street fighter III 2nd impact: Giant Attack (Same game as New Generations just more characters.)
      +Street fighter III 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future (Almost an actual sequel because there was a different storyline as well as new characters.)

      Then there was Street Fighter Alpha 3 (A proper sequel AFAIK)

      Aside from this there was the Street fighter EX series which Wikipedia doesn't say much about.

When Nintendo opened a poll to see what other characters people wanted in SSBB Sonic was the number one most requested... Mega Man was number two. Why no MM? Capcom is all Sony these days and MM is in another fighting game for PS2 Marvel VS Capcom.

Now Sega makes Marvel games, and Capcom does cross-platform like with Devil May Cry. But then again Dead Rising is still only available on the 360, and it's already the year 2008.

        Once you pass the first round of bosses you get four extra stages where you have to fight two of the bosses from Megaman 2 in addition to a third super boss. I always gave up at that point.

        The easiest boss is Ice Man. He moves really slowly and is the weakest to Megaman's regular shot.

The Mega Man Zero series is pretty good but still way too hard. The Legend series are good in their own right because of the charm of its characters. I'm a huge Mega Man fan but even I'll admit it's gotten WAY out of hand. Cut down on the milking and give us a real Mega Man 9 please!

Old school MM forced you to learn rhythm... when you had it, you were a furious fighting force... if you lost it, death. A great leason for real life. It makes me sad to play new video games with there infinite "cushion" features to keep you from actually getting a game over or having to replay an area because you died.

    Oh and server down with 55 diggs? For shame.

    Maybe Maga Man is more like a herpes filled slut that sells its self for cheap and makes crappy sequels where as Mario is more of an expensive slut that you would find in the newspapers having an orgy with a Sports star and 2 monkeys.

It's all I ever hear even partial dorks talk about. Then again, I never really played Mega Man. Then again after looking at some pages on Wikipedia, Mario has far more games and appearances than Mega Man. I may be wrong. Bury me if so.
