- mumbat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+37@eplawless: you do realise that it's a xbox360 title, don't you?
- digitaloxygen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31Here you can find a very impressive Demo / presentation running on an over clocked (to about 3.7 GHZ!! ) Intel Core 2 Quad. Very nice.

Ironically this game is exclusive to Vista and 360. Sounds like a PS3 might not be the way to go for you.
EDIT: oops. mumbat beat me to it. - ByteGuerilla, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Why not? Because Daz Genetic has pre-ordered a PS3, that's why!
- KnightMareInc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13the story should be good, its from the guys who did max payne
- inajeep, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15@eplawless: I don't think it's reading comprehension as much as your writing skills which leave the interpretation of your comment a bit open. Logically it's also not sound but that's your issue, not mine. But good show on being such a dick about it.
- mirzmaster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14An interesting tidbit for those who didn't know:
Remedy (the development house behind Alan Wake and the Max Payne games) was started by members of the Future Crew, a very well-known group from the old-school demo scene.
Given the technical prowess they demonstrated back in the day, I think it's no surprise that they're able to produce such knock-out gaming visuals. - StarManta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12eplawless: OK, I'll bite. What "games like this" are on PS3?
- PORTAL45, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Direct Link to HD movies for Alan Wake:

- SGagnon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10No, the demo was running on a 7900GTX which is DX9 based and was already looking stunning.
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8You could, you know, digg the story, then it'll be under your dugg stories... You know. Social bookmarking.
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Finland is Winland!
I'm very impressed. Not only are the graphics "good" (technical shiznit), but the game *looks* gorgeous. Sometimes it seems like games can only have one or the other, but it's clearly more a case of developers having the time and resources to make the game as pretty as possible. - berfmurret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6mmm i love those long shadows from the low sun.
- steveoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You see all the insanely (for now) rich texture and atmospheric detail and you complain about a single car engine which would probably spend most of the time under the bonnet?
I bet you would call ***** if Alan wasn't anatomically correct too. - EBFoxbat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7They must be pretty good at optimising code.
- afex, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gears_of_war
- Nezzari, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Although that demo is on a quad core CPU, the developers have stated that the 360 and PC version will look the same.
“In the current plans the PC and 360 versions will be pretty identical." - EBFoxbat, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12Um.... why not?
- icantdrawanime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Even with all that processing power, Alan Wake still runs like a little girl
- trubbleshute, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4 Wytefang, did you like the game Myst? Do you like the "Cooking Mama"? Different strokes.
They are touting the graphics, Alan Wake makes Oblivion look like child's play. It'll be interesting to see the graphics of the PC in three years compare to the PS3. - DeepFreezed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5What 360 lack in the CPU will be made up by the Xenos. Xenos is a beast, just go read up and see if any knowledgeable person says otherwise. 3 Cores is not bad. But remember you can optimize the code fore 360.
- jeet404, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I want this game just for the graphics which they have shown are going to be awesome. So there happy? Don't say why we put why I should want this game. Everyone has different taste in gaming. After all it's entertainment.
- EvolvedAnt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't think it was nessesary to dig down SonnyW, he was merely pointing out the blatant show off attempt by foolfromhell by using a bit of sarcasm/exageration.
When someone asks if their GeForce 4 Ti can run a next gen game, and if it is worth upgrading the CPU or the graphics card, you know it is an honest question. When they ask if the brand new top of the line GeForce 8800, with the new Core 2 Duo line of CPU's is 'enough' to run a game... well you'd be a fool to think that wasn't a blatant attempt to show off. - TheAstronomer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Anyone else notice the gas prices??
Ouch
289,299,309 - Destinatus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4*interesting fact* Monkey Island is not the only adventure game.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2sry, game not done
- stinio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2thats about right for the pnw (where the game is set, and where I live) during the summer this year, around e3 to x06 time. I know I was paying more than that on some days.
- popltree2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This game looks gorgeous. My one gripe is the car. What is with the engine-panted surface? For all of the detail they are putting into this game, this seems like a bit of an oversight. But, a forgivable oversight nonetheless.
- martinj88, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I read a preview of this and it seems to have a great story to it, as well as great graphics.
Wonder what the Specs are. - popltree2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Rising
- Destinatus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@trubbleshute: The demo has been up at my local EB. After you get used to the controls excite truck is pretty much the same 'ol boring racing game. It feels unnatural driving without a steering wheel. But that's just my opinion.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm with you on waiting for a few more anticipated games. The ones I'm wating for are Smash Bros and Mario Galaxy...and maybe a new Mario Kart Wii. I'm sure that it'll be a while before I get a Wii because I know that Gears of War will be practically welded into my 360 for months.
- InternetUser, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3ouch, I meant that in a nice way you cynical scallywags! I'm not really much of a gamer, wasn't dissing other xbox360 games, gangstas.
- EBFoxbat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2what I would give for www.duggmirror.com to mirror 1 layer of links so I can view screenshots through my work filter
- EBFoxbat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Of course, infact you could probabaly underclock it to save heat.
- bbqplate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1alan wake, GoW, Lost Planet, and Resident Evil 5 sealed the deal for me on purchasing the 360.
I will wait till the Wii gets around 4 games that I really want before i purchase it. Zelda, a new Mario, that crisis game, and just waiting for 1 more killer. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well the digger linked to 2 month old screens, I figured I'd show them even older ones to marvel at ;)
- SGagnon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Here's a link to something you can actually download
http://xboxyde.com/news_3570_en.html - Daz_Genetic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Sorry for hitting a nerve. You don't have to believe me. I just hope that I will get modded back up when I'm proven to be right on this particular issue.
I'm talking from experience as both a professional games developer and 3D artist, and also from looking at every other game on the 360. These shots are pre-rendered, whether you want to believe it or not. The anti-aliasing is the kind you get with a ray-traced render, not with the type of anti-aliasing available to current GPU's.. Even with 6x anti-aliasing enabled, there should still be some evidence of aliasing in certain situations. That is not the case.
It's pretty clear who the fanboys are here, as I am getting modded down for speaking the truth.
BTW: I'm not interested in any of the systems yet. There aren't enough of the types of games I like to play on any one of the systems out, or coming out. - dodgyd55, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1oh i actually looked at it, at first i thought it was that lame surfing game i cant remember the name of.
visually impressive - AlienHairball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Holy crap I didn't realize Remedy was spawned from Future Crew - that's awesome :) See I always wondered what the demo scene guys went on to do with their lives and hey now we know!
I was always wowed by what the top demo scene groups could come up with and what they could make my measly old 486 do that I was convinced was impossible at the time :) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2All the screens plus many more at http://www.alanwake.co.uk/screenshots/ for those of you who wanted them.
- namelessted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nice to see this. I have been watching this game for a while now, its always good to see more of it. It is simply beautiful, and I think the game might actually be fun to play.
- jmg703, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Either they rendered that gun wrong or he is using wad cutter rounds which is more for target practice than a tactical defense round.
- billymachine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have only two words to describe Alan Wake: "Damn!" and "Photo-realistic!" Looks like Crysis might have some competition after all.
- OneAMCoffee, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4I can't really say it looks that good, look at the motor in the car, its an image... I thought we moved on to actual objects?
- steveoco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I hope they sell this engine to other companies to use in the future. It looks like lots of effort and care has gone into producing it. Even if it's just first party games.
- Daz_Genetic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well I appear to have been already proven correct.
Unless of course they are actually rendering the game at 5120 x 3250
http://www.alanwake.co.uk/screenshots/ - popltree2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I see 2.99 and 9/10ths.
