- revenge7, on 10/12/2007, -5/+83Nobody was looking for PS3s anymore.

Half of the time they won't even budge...most answers are:
"they just come in when they come in"
Which is honest truth anyway
And Best Buy does them on Sundays if that means anything - lazydrumhead, on 10/12/2007, -22/+3bah, the only video game store I ever pass by in my nearby mall had 10 or so stacked up
- rhesuspieces00, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5if that were true, and you aren't an idiot, you should have bought them and sold them on ebay and doubled your money.
- Jedimonkey27, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15@lazydrumhead
You are probably referring to EBGames or Gamestop, both of which stack up empty boxes for advertising. Most places do not put expensive consoles out on the floor. - g4blows, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2http://www.refreshthing.com/wii/index.php
Online retailers and auto refresh, only bad thing is that a lot of them are bundles. I got my Wii/Zelda/Madden 07/Nunchuck for 380 with shipping. The do go quick though. - docdoak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Or you could just have lined up on day one like I did and wait a few hours...
- broomett, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Sorry fanboys...but it is true. It is nOT hard to find a Wii after Christmas. Yes, they get sold within a few hours, but if you get there early, you can easily find several sitting on the shelves, unsold for a few hours.
People simply are not calling the stores every day anymore because hte urgency of Christmas is gone.
Parents got their kids other gifts for Christmas. They are not going to give them an ADDITIONAL $250+ present on top of htat now. They will wait until their birthday, or some other reason.
I've seen two stores that had at least 2 Wiis on the shelf, and my mom saw TEN on the shelf for over an hour, and after she bought one, my sister went back to get a controller 2 hours later and there were still eight left. So only 1 other was sold in 2+ hours. - Chicken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you live in the NYC area just go to the nintendo store everyday, I went there two times in the afternoon and I saw a line of like 8 people for the Wii on those days so if you guys live in NYC, head to the Nintendo store.
- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2I'm selling mine, who wants it?
I like it, but I could do with the money right now instead. - godfa7h3r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Wow, what a great guide to finding a Wii. I'll summarize this article into 2 easy steps.
1) Find out when your store of choice is getting a shipment of Wii's
2) Show up early that day and wait for the shipment
In the words of Guinness beer commercials.... BRILLIANT!!! - lazydrumhead, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@monkey
I see. - tange1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Digg me up or down but this is what I learned from someone and it worked first try:
Go to a toys r us around opening, hang around the electronics dept. About 1 or 2 hours after opening most toys r us get a DHL shippment of toys. Just wait and ask if any wii's came in the shippment. Toys r us was honest with my g/f yesterday and on her first (I didn't try any) retail store search for a wii we found one without much fuss. - MegaSilver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you live in Canada, check out this site: http://www.redflagdeals.com/deals/main.php/wiifinder/
Search for systems, remotes, nun-chucks or controllers.
- jodokast, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Right, so how are we supposed to know when they get UPS shipments.
- jbrown101st, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Just ask one of the employees. My local EB Games gets shipments every tuesday :D
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22I've tried Circuit City, Gamestop, Best Buy, Target.
"When do you guys get your shipments in?"
Them: "They come in sporadically."
Me: "When you get them in, how many do you usually get?"
Them: "I've seen 2 come in. I've seen 16 come in."
Me: "Thanks"
LOOK...it's pure luck if you happen to get one or not. Most of the advice left on this page is pure BS. These store employees haven't the SLIGHTEST idea when more Wii's are coming in.
I used no ELITE SHOPPING SKILLZ to get my 360 3 days after release. I happened to be farting around in B.Buy when some guy put two boxes out within 10 feet of me. Before I get to my box some other kid grabbed the other. That's how fast you have to be.
The only way you're going to get a Wii guaranteed is to have no job and sit at Target or Best Buy for 5 hours a day for a straight week. - bryant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Heh. I just call Best Buy every morning at 10:00...
- docdoak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@ jodokast:

- EricCiccone, on 10/12/2007, -22/+12There are 2 at my local Gamestop...
- JamesConnolly, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16I like how you get dug down for suggesting there are 2 Wiis at your local gamestop. God forbid anyone suggest there are any Wiis about, otherwise people maybe jump to the crazy conclusion that noone is buying Wiis!!!!!
Oh noes! - MarkCiccone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Hey one of those babies will be gone soon ;)
- Archon810, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@JamesConnolly: that's because it's impossible. Unless he was posting from a cell phone and had enough time to type all that up before somebody snagged them.
- PlasticSolution, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"I like how you get dug down for suggesting there are 2 Wiis at your local gamestop. God forbid anyone suggest there are any Wiis about, otherwise people maybe jump to the crazy conclusion that noone is buying Wiis!!!!!"
I think it's the fact that it doesn't help anybody to know that there are 2 Wiis at his local Gamestop. Most peoples' local shops don't have any Wiis, so who cares that his do? - JamesConnolly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Plasticsolution
Perhaps. But on any article about the PS3, you have some bozo claiming they aren't selling because he supposedly sees 2 or 8 or 10290478239487234 at his local store which he checks frequently (they usually post some BS that they came back 2 hours later or 4 hours later and they were still there) Or, even though they hate the PS3, they took the time to check all the stores in their area on PS3 availability...or so they claim. All this, even though you can't easily find a PS3 in the Portland or Minneapolis area. And those comments never get dugg down, quite the opposite, even with their wild and stupid claims. - J3yrad, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Well, let's just get to the facts of Digg:
PS3 Sucks, it's cool to make fun of it.
Wii owns, it's lame to make fun of it.
Should be pretty obvious by now... - LittleDanzig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Regardless, some of you evangelizing the supremacy of your system of choice on Digg and Slashdot should be embarassed as hell that your consumer urges are so ingrained that you think your PURCHASES are worth developing an emotional attachment to. While watching people bicker about which multi-billion dollar company loves them more is very entertaining, there are many of us out there who recognize that one's choice of product does not ultimately define their worth or their intelligence.
I dug this article up because I'd like a Wii and I didn't know they shipped through UPS. Believe it or not, this does help. When I clicked that button, it had nothing to do with "ZOMG PROVING THAT THE WII IS TEH BEST" -- because I really don't care which system the Unwashed Masses of Mouthbreathers™ prefer -- I digg'ed it up because I found it fairly helpful. Please take a step back from your hermitistic lives to realize that not all of us are motivated by a blind and unquestioning allegiance to a multi-national company of choice.

- jgee, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1"Here’s the tip: find out when each store in your area receives its UPS shipments (time of day) and then show up at the store about 30 minutes early, start talking to someone who knows about the store’s shipment schedule and ask them how you can find out whether a shipment of Wiis had come in. They’ll probably tell you to go to a designated area and just wait. Regardless, you will have positioned yourself to get first dibs.
Since Nintendo Wii’s are trickling in via UPS shipments, you may need to do this for a few days during the week. But you are pretty much guaranteed a system if you follow through on this procedure. "- samadam, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5I did that. The nerds beat me to it. They had come in at 5am to wait for the ups truck that came at 11. I gave up.
Then I bought a 360. So Microsoft is a big winner in this shortage, I figure. - MicrowavedH2o, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3...except they don't know when the shipments come in.
Every place I ask, they tell me: "We don't have any. We don't know when we're getting more. We just bring them out once we get them." - rmamom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have heard that they are coming in through all the carriers (UPS, FedEx and something else) and that they don't know when the carriers are coming in. - MrFoof82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Had a friend in the Denver area that was at a Best Buy, when the manager came out with a cart of three Wiis and asked "Who wants a Wii"? Apparently there was a near stampede for it, but she was literally within feet of the guy and could've snagged one. At the time, she didn't realize just how hard they are to get.
Now she's interested and is looking to get one, she's kicking herself realizing it could be some time before she can get one for herself.
-----
I got mine on December 19th. EB opened at 8AM, mall opened their doors at 6AM (security let folks in early at 5:30). I showed up at 4:50AM and was 4th in line. 40 minutes in the cold, another 2 1/2 hours waiting in a warm mall, and I had mine. - sacherjj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I got lucky in finding one at Target on the first day I started looking (last week.) It was much harder to find extra Wiimotes and Nunchucks. You can check local store's availability on target.com. This applies to games and accessories as well. If you are planning on getting a Wii. Pickup Wiimotes and Nunchucks when ever they are available. We had to look for a few days before we could play more than one person at a time.
- MegaSilver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I got mine on Christmas Day. U woke up and wrapped under the tree is what Santa got for me. Man those elves are good.

- harmonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1because your time is so precious that it can't be wasted with a little more effort...
- LittleDanzig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0My time isn't precious, but it is usually compensated on an hourly basis, and I usually can't recieve that compensation if my ass is parked in front of a Target for seven days a week. I'd like a Wii, and the UPS knowledge is remotely helpful, but I was hoping for an idea that was a little more friendly to those of us who are gainfully employed.
- Luigi239, on 10/12/2007, -17/+1Meh, I have one.

- MagicBobert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It's the nunchucks that are freakin' impossible to find. Been looking for 2 more for two weeks now.
- JamesConnolly, on 10/12/2007, -14/+3I don't own a Wii. I have no idea why the nunchucks are hard to find. But I'm going to employ Digg PS3 logic on this one.
You can't find them because they break, everyone has to go out and replace them. Of course, if the product was made as good as the (whatever) remote, there'd be plenty around blah blah blah. - Eaglefire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A friend of mine was just on vacation to Puerto Rico - they have shelves full of Nunchuks and Wiimotes and Wiis. Apparently demand is lower there.
- streaksinthesky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Too true. It appears to me that the nunchucks are more elusive than the actual console, at least where I live. I got my Wii on launch day and since then walked into EB a couple times when there have been one or two Wiis, but they never have any nunchucks.
- sterling32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just order them direct from Nintendo's web store. I ordered a nunchuck and component cables and they shipped the same day. No one else seems to have anything in stock, but Nintendo is shipping parts out pretty damn quick.
- Netmindstorm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5272698
In stock as of 23:25 EST
- sacherjj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The best place I've found for Wiimotes and Nunchucks (don't have all I need yet, but got some) is less mainstream stores in bad locations. The only place I found either in stock was a Kmart in the 'hood. YMMV.
- MCHampster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I just ordered my nunchuks from Nintendo a few weeks ago:
http://store.nintendo.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&langId=-1¤cy=USD&ignoreCrumbs=N&crumb1=&crumb1Ignore=&crumb2=%253CA%2BHREF%253D%2522javascript%253APassOn%2528%2527X%2527%252C%2B%2527ChooseView%2527%252C%2527%2527%252C%2B%2527%2527%2529%253B%2522%253EWii%253C%252FA%253E&crumb2Ignore=&crumb3=&crumb3Ignore=&translateFrom=%C8%C9%C7&translateTo=EEC&usrSearchText=&searchText=&selSrchType=&page=&view=&productId=117707&categoryId=62705&lastAction=ProductDisplay&orderTotal=null
At the time the page said they were backordered and would ship on the 19th of December. I got the nunchuks around the 15th of December.

- MEbuDDy6, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Best Advice: Go to Target and MAKE THEM do a stock check in the area. They can check all the stores in the region for availability. The stock reflects 8am quantities, but it's your best bet.
- ampersand2001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is true...and since the holiday season is over, they'll hold it for you if there is one in stock...usually an hour, but if you ask them nicely to hold one longer, they will.
just be nice to the people in the red shirts, they secretly hate you. - brombie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I second that. It's how I got 3 pairs of Wiimote and Nunchuks.
First, ask a Target's electronics sales associate to check the inventory of the items on all Target within driving distance. The item numbers, if memory serves me, are 20700690 (Wiimote) and 20700691 (Nunchuk). They can print out the list of stores for you. It won't have the inventory amount. You can ask them to write amount there. However, don't trust those numbers yet. I've been burned once by going to a store that was shown to have 50 Wiimotes and turned out they had nothing. So, call each store first and give them the item numbers to check. This is important since some of them can get easily confused with the other controllers (classic, the wii itself, etc. etc.) Plus, that'll at least force them to check the actual inventory. - brombie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Forgot to add the last thing: If you do find a Target store that has them in stock, ask them to hold it for you for pick-up. They'll be waiting at the Customer Service and reserved for 24 hours.
- castleking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I work at a Target and we're instructed to not hold high demand items. Specifically Wiis, PS3s, TMX Elmos, Elmo Chairs, and video rockers (what that is, I don't know). I'm surprised they held it for you. Also at Target, we can't be normal. We don't call them UPCs, they're "DPCIs." Everything is a ***** acronym. We don't have stock, we have POGs, CAFs, and EXFs. Anyway, the target I'm at rarely if ever even gets controllers or nunchucks in, let alone consoles.
- nonperson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1go to www.itrackr.com. It costs 1.99 to have them text message you when your local target has them in stock. Worked like a charm, i got a text message at 10:00am saying they had them in stock, got there around 11am and was the first one there to get one. They had like 15 in stock, by about 5pm they were all gone (they sent another text message saying they were out of stock). overall best 1.99 i ever spent.
- ampersand2001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is true...and since the holiday season is over, they'll hold it for you if there is one in stock...usually an hour, but if you ask them nicely to hold one longer, they will.

Maybe that's just me. - wnl7prince, on 10/12/2007, -8/+21Stupid internet... Digg me down!
- thewebinfront, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I walked in to Toysrus last Saturday and they had one on the shelf and a few in the back room, so that's when I got mine. I guess you just have to come in at the right time. Otherwise, I couldn't find any at any other stores.
- aer0sense, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Erm I got mine 4th day of release just by walking in...last one...shipment was in 10 minutes before I walked in of 3...and I think im a normal person.
Or am I not? ITS ALL A CONSPIRACY - timewaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I did this exact same thing a week ago at Gamestop - got there before ups truck came - and me and 2 other people got the 3 Wiis that came in the shipment. Talk about getting lucky. Also, some punk wanted to cut in front of me but I managed to get the 2nd Wii. SCORE!!
- teddy2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I got one through Craigslist a few days ago. Somebody wanted to trade a Wii for an Xbox360, or sell for cash. I paid cash. It was used. This is how I handled it:
We met a local restaurant that has free wireless internet. I called the store manager, who gave me permission to meet there and use a TV set to test out the unit.
I was able to test the Wii, its game disk loading, the controller, the wireless. I did not test the GameCube controllers and memory card, but I could have if I came prepared.
Anyway, I got a Wii plus a game plus a classic controller for about $37 over retail cost PLUS state sales tax. I also got the instant gratification of playing the Wii the same day I found it online.
I was able to register the serial number online and a new wrist strap is in the mail.- ascott9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I believe that is a little excessive but whatever. I typed in my local zip code on ebay and did a 25 mile radius then made a email and sent it to everyone in the vicinity asking if they want to do a local sell and avoid paypal, ebay, and other online risks. I only got 1 person willing to do it for my lowball offer of $330 but I got a brand new unopened Wii. I'm in college and the guy ended up being in one of my exact same lectures. We met up after class and I gave him cash and he gave me a target back full of Wii.
- dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1I don't get what the big deal is... I managed to find and purchase 5 Wii units from launch till the week before xmas for myself and friends without any prior knowledge or camping for 4 of the units. The longest I waited was for my own unit, which was 8 hours outside Wal-mart. All others waited an hour or less.
- Orlex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That's why they are so hard to find, YOU ARE BUYING ALL OF THEM!
Yeah I got mine on launch by having a sleepover party with about 100 other people beside a best buy.
- Orlex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That's why they are so hard to find, YOU ARE BUYING ALL OF THEM!
- Dmel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I have to admit, they're very hard to find. I have purchased 3 since first week they came available. After not being able to find one in stores, I bought one off eBay for 100$ over retail, then I found one at a Target and sold it to a friend for what I paid for it and found another at Toys R Us and sold it on eBay for 100$ over cost to recoup my initial investment. Each time I found them at retail there were less than 3 on the shelf, the first time at Target me and some friends bought all 3 at once and watched as 2-3 other people came in behind us because they heard that some were available. It's very, very hit and miss.
- Kingfish1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's pretty much how you have to do it. At gamestop, when we get our shipments in, they're gone in about 15 minutes. You just have to be lucky and be there when UPS shows up.
- theman93, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0or you can ask your aunt who works for Nintendo
- Inverno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was just got back from (unsuccessfully) looking for a Wii. Where was this site five hours ago?! Oh well, we had a good time window shopping.
Thanks Seawaves, you'll save us some time later on :D - xlar54, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Here's an idea....
WAIT.
For Pete's sake.. Ive seem more patience from crack users...
Wait a year AND get it at a lower price too. Like it or not, you're waiting anyway - might as well make it worth a dollar. - rlutterb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Last year for the Xbox 360, I just used a hacked-together Best Buy.com URL to find availability in-store (even though BB didn't technically list it online, you could plop in the SKU and locate it anyway). This year they've evidently caught on to that trick, as it won't work for a Wii SKU (unless I'm messing it up somehow).
- danmanx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Guys! Mine is finally on the way...but don't think I'm here to gloat! Here's my awesome method, but it does require patience.
(Don't bother w/ B&M stores UNLESS you know somebody)
Anyway, this is how I scored the Wii:
1. Set up a program called Klipfolio (RSS Reader) on your computer.
2. Set up an RSS alert to http://www.xpbargains.com/wii_locator.php.
3. Set it for every 5 mins (sorry, that's the best you can do).
4. Put your speakers up and wait...yes, my friends...it's WELL WORTH IT.
5. Have your credit card ready and handy, also be sure to be logged in or PREPARED to log in quickly. This is *FOR REAL*.
I woke up at 7:42am on 12/29 and scored one of the Sam's Club bundles. The RSS alert woke me up! :-)
I hope ALL of you can get Wii's! Best system ever.
Regards,
DanmanX- broomett, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0B&M stores will get you a non-bundled system with even less work. People are NOT camping out anymore.

- scootinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Try Toys R Us - I got one last Thursday morning. I called (while I was in the midst of driving/calling around), and they said they had 12. Got over there in about 20-25 minutes and I was still able to get one! Didn't have to get a bundle or anything!
- YoHenYo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Comment in one word = Eh.
- bloodborne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's basically what I did. Waited around a bit in a GameStop, three came in, and myself and another called two of them. I asked the guy later and they said they sold the third fifteen minutes later. There's not much of a window of opportunity, but I've found persistence pays off when trying to get a Wii.

Wii: Base your buying time slot by the horoscope coupled with an advanced algorithm of stock market fluctuations, weather, and women's menstruation cycle. Then located the correct store with a Google-Earth integrated GPS system with RSS feeds of current Wii inventory stocks. Make to have your GPS route calculated to be the shortest and fastest possible (including traffic conditions) or you might not get one in time.

What a loser. I don't know where the hell you are, but we having the exact opposite problem here. My brother got a Wii easy in Minneapolis. All he had to do was go to Target. To rushing, no running, it was there. I guess they must be the one place in this whole country who has excess. PS3, on the other hand, not here. - Inverno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where in Minneapolis? I've been to the three gamestops, two targets, and a bestbuy and came home empty handed. I'm seriously curious to know, it's my goal to find one today.
- Inverno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Update for James. I just got back from the Bloomington, MN Wal-Mart. As of 10:15 am they have two PS3s in their case. I talked the dude into running into the back and snagging a box of Wiis. They had three, but I got one. Happy hunting Twin Cities console seekers.
Inverno the proud owner of a wii60 :D

- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2How to find a Wii? Thats easy, all I have to do it look below my TV.
- Ravenlock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Guys, it's after the holidays. Supply will rapidly increase for the rest of this month and by sometime in February you'll be able to buy a Wii OR a PS3 by walking into any store you want. "I saw X number of systems sitting in Best Buy nobody wants them LOL!" has less meaning every day and just about zero meaning now. The launch happened, it's done. PS3 didn't do so hot. Maybe their luck will improve, maybe not, but we don't need to pretend that these things are like food rations in the Depression anymore. They want your money, they're making more.
- magicjames92, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I saw a wii in a random store on a random day, just sitting there, unsold, no one caring. The PS3's were sold out however.
- DEADBEEF64, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0My best method getting an Wii, PS3 or other hot gaming console:
Dont get one before the holiday season. Instead celebrate the fact that you still have a loving family and share those few moments of joy. Then after all the days are over, the food is gone, resume work, ask your collegues how their time off was and tell them you had a fantastic family holiday. Then two weeks into januari, goto ANY store and pick the required console from the shelf. Dust it off ,take it home and play without anyone bothering you. - mthanded, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2In russia wii finds you...
Someone had to say it. - cceverett, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I walked into a Best Buy last week and they had a whole stack of them so I bought one.
- bikingshaun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I have a Gamestop and an EB Games within 5 minutes of each other. I went to the Gamestop on Tuesday first and was told I missed the last one by 5 minutes. Realizing that the UPS guy that delivers them must still be in the area and probably heading to the EB Games accross the road - I went there. I saw the UPS guy heading to the store (in a mall) and waited in the store for the shipment to be received. The clek checked in 2 Wii's - I got one. There were about 5 people in the store at that moment looking for one. It took me all of 30 minutes total.
good luck finding one - it just takes some persistence. - sMoRTy71, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I got mine from Target in the middle of the afternoon on Dec. 27th. It was sitting the very back of the locked case (turned sideways) and was hard to spot. They had gotten a shipment in that morning and sold most of them when the store opened.
People who were in the game aisle were stunned when the employee unlocked the case and pulled it out of the back.
http://www.smorty71.com/2006/12/i-just-got-wii.html - fakesinatra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11. Look up the Target item number (NOT the UPC) for the Wii. I don't remember what it is but a simple google search will yield it.
2. Call Target customer service around noon and select the option that connects you to an operator to ask about "Target merchandise, including grocery items"
3. Tell the operator (india) that you want to find an item in a store near you. Give him your zip code and the item number for the Wii.
4. The operator tells you which stores near you have it in stock.
5. Drive to the store that has it and buy it.
I had resolved to do this every day until I found a wii but it only took one try (yesterday) to find a store that had it. If you live in a dumpwater town with only one Target then this won't work, obviously. - haveacigar, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I know an easier way of finding a wii
