- appleseed1234, on 09/29/2009, -0/+76Who the hell buys 20 computer to host a lan party? If you're invited, bring your own!
- LordKorax, on 09/29/2009, -1/+63If you can't figure out how to set up a LAN party, you probably shouldn't be having one.
- ZhiZaki, on 09/28/2009, -0/+60I miss LAN parties.... they were like sandboxes for 16 year olds and up.
- Ghostalker, on 09/29/2009, -0/+54I'm sure Razor1911's version will have LAN support.
- MillurTime, on 09/29/2009, -1/+52Stay away from alcohol? Doesn't sound like an awesome LAN party to me.
- inactive, on 09/29/2009, -1/+49Don't forget to bring plenty of condoms for all the hot women who are bound to show up
- jacksons98, on 09/28/2009, -1/+46One they didn't mention that is crucial: Game Patches and your Windows System disk
- KahRahTay, on 09/28/2009, -0/+30we used to contact our local Bawls distributor and if we hyped it up enough we could get them to donate a flat of Bawls for free in exchange for hanging up a few signs. Twas awesome
- cjflashman, on 09/29/2009, -0/+19TF2, CSS, UT3, etc.
Pizza, and a few Pepsi 2L bottles.
(Give or take a few Kilowatts of energy, of course)
Fun, fun, *****. - bewareofthecow, on 09/29/2009, -0/+19One of the biggest things only briefly mentioned in the article is having the games you are going to play pre-installed. There is nothing more annoying than spending the first 3 hours of a LAN party transferring ISOs and installing games just to find out that some dude's machine doesn't meet the minimum specs etc...
- shadeOfGrey, on 09/29/2009, -3/+214. "Travel back to 1999"
- tidu, on 09/29/2009, -0/+15"Try not to use wireless as this might slow down the game for everyone, and we don’t really want a slow game."
"If people are bringing their laptops, make sure you have wireless." - suprememilo, on 09/29/2009, -0/+15How am I supposed to know where I will be living when SC2 comes out?

- suprememilo, on 09/29/2009, -0/+13I am gonna have a massive LAN once SC2 comes out (LAN support or not).
Everyone is invited. - twiztidsinz, on 09/29/2009, -2/+15Do you love bawls in your mouth?
What are you? A gay fish? wait....
I messed that up. - faceless323, on 09/29/2009, -0/+11beer, cigarettes, and an occasional bowl...that's a LAN party.
- katatoniq, on 09/29/2009, -0/+10No you didn't.
- SilverBack101, on 09/29/2009, -0/+10Man...I do miss my LAN days. Remember someone must be designated as the Hot Pockets supplier.
- Inaktivist, on 09/29/2009, -1/+11Thanks digg! >.> Somewhat ironically, I feel like a nerd for never having been to a LAN party.
- NeoTechni, on 09/29/2009, -1/+10They said it would have LAN, but still require you to sign online to authenticate
- andytronic, on 09/29/2009, -1/+10How To Organize an Awesome LAN Party
Microsoft should make a video for that. - Shaflugi, on 09/29/2009, -0/+9I take my girl to LANs. Looks like I win.
- j2los, on 09/29/2009, -0/+8Where's the part about beer?
- hotweb, on 09/29/2009, -0/+8Sweet! What's ur address?
- brodie7838, on 09/29/2009, -0/+7If everything doesn't go exactly as planned you are a bad host and your friends will pretty much hate you forever.
I think this is probably one of the more lame makeuseof articles I've ever read. - ShaggyTDawg, on 09/28/2009, -1/+8I love me some Bawls!
- the8thbit, on 09/29/2009, -0/+6Good. I'd rather have it get pushed back than have it released without LAN play.
- fuzzy889, on 09/29/2009, -0/+6Who the hell are you talking to?
- gimpsta, on 09/29/2009, -1/+7only occasional? remind me to stay away from your LAN parties.
- antdude, on 09/29/2009, -0/+6Keep fighting for it.
- doshindude, on 09/29/2009, -0/+5Why Windows system disk? Are you gonna be purposely trashing your OS that night?
- zeth006, on 09/29/2009, -0/+5How about your current address...just in case?
- katatoniq, on 09/29/2009, -0/+5it was actually Corey WorthingTON.
- nerdpulse, on 09/29/2009, -0/+4Comfortable chairs are a MUST too...nothing worse than being in the middle of the night and your back is killing you because you're on a folding metal chair.
- the8thbit, on 09/29/2009, -0/+4"and just buy overpriced foodstuffs from them"
There's your problem. - inactive, on 09/29/2009, -0/+4I used to love having LAN parties. Aliens vs Predator was so much ***** fun.
- AlphaDrake, on 09/29/2009, -0/+4Sorry, forgot to link: www.megafps.com
- AlphaDrake, on 09/29/2009, -0/+4There are still LANs in Edmonton (Fragapalooza in summer) and MegaFPS which has LANs every few months or so
/shamelessplug - Kazbaeden, on 09/29/2009, -0/+4A few? We used to go through at least 12. Good times.
- jester55, on 09/29/2009, -1/+5You'd be surprised!
- jackcola, on 09/29/2009, -0/+4Maybe we should have a follow up of the best lan games or something? Have a read of this as it tells you some online racing games. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/muo-games-the-best-fr ...
- johnwayne1, on 09/29/2009, -1/+5HALO LAN Parties
- UrineEngineer, on 09/29/2009, -1/+5Buried for spamming personal website in multiple articles with exact same message.
- Swivelstick, on 09/29/2009, -1/+5And your life became a living hell.
- cybrguy, on 09/29/2009, -0/+4People in the Pacific North West like me must be spoiled, we still have great LAN parties all the time.
500 man lan, Total prizes and giveaways always in the tens of thousands of dollars, www.pdxlan.net
Then of course, our local LAN group still hosts weekly LAN parties. Have been doing so since 1996, excluding some of the times we were away at college and other small breaks. We started with Duke Nukem 3D on 1st gen pentium computers (p75s, p90s, etc using coax 10base nics).
The most enjoyable LANs are the smaller 8-16 man LANs where everyone commits to playing the same game. No WOW breaks, no splitting off on your own because you "don't like that game" etc. - Valyn, on 09/29/2009, -1/+5Strippers definitely make a LAN party better.
- HentaiJeff, on 09/29/2009, -1/+4you never know what may happen ;)
- HentaiJeff, on 09/29/2009, -0/+3VPN? are you serious? the point of a LAN is to be in the same room with everyone and have no lag at all. a VPN would ruin the whole thing
