- o0joshua0o, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Why would you want to run homebrew games, emulators, or applications on the PSP? Aren't all the great commercial PSP games and UMD movies good enough by themselves? ;-)
- xerox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Why would you want to run homebrew games, emulators, or applications on the PSP? Aren't all the great commercial PSP games and UMD movies good enough by themselves? ;-)"
no. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd give anything just to sit in one of those Sony meetings when they discuss just how much they hate this guy and talk about the 'next firmware upgrade'. So hilarious. Keep fighting that losing battle, Sony.
- Sniper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sorry, but that's not what homebrew is all about. This is what gives it a bad name, making people think all homebrewers are pirates.
- gamingbloghost, on 12/27/2008, -0/+1The brand new PSP Hack! Play copied games, import games, homebrew, and more! http://how-to-copy-psp-games.blogspot.com
- SupaDawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1when this news surfaced on the weekend it was great news. my psp is bricked and is getting re-upped with a 1.5 firmware flash, but for anyone looking to run mario on their PSP this is the break we need.
The best thing is, this flaw is IN THE GAME not the PSP. Sony can keep altering the syscalls, but we'll keep finding them... the only way to stop this exploit is to re-press GTA... which i just plain dont see happening. - nuclearpenguins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Fanjita's ok and all, but where are the .iso/umd hax for 2.0+? Yeah, homebrew versions of Tetris is cool and all, but where is the real piracy goodness here?
Is it because of the lack of ability to access the kernal or is it because he doesn't want to piss off Sony into thinking we're all dirty pirates (Which we are, admit it)... - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Now we have to wait for an ISO loader then were set. still good news though"
I think the homebrew is better personally. The lineup for the PSP is decidedly sad. When I go into the shops I see more UMD movies than games on the shelves. That pretty much speaks for itself. And it's not because the games are exactly flying off the shelves either. - Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why not embrace a platform that encourages homebrew development, like the GPX2? Seems like Sony is sending a clear message: "Indie devr's, we don't want you. Go away!"
So, why don't you? - kkaabboomm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0xerox - i believe o0joshua0o was making a joke...
- zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Keep fighting that losing battle, Sony"
They are winning. When can you fire an eboot as easily as you could on fw 1.0 and fw 1.5?? You have to jump through flaming hoops to do it even using this. - doczein, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0fanjita is king.
- MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice, this guy is awesome.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yay
- patrickmcguire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's good to see the homebrew scene being so dedicated, or rather to see one specific programmer being so prolific. i'd kill to see a surge in the oh-so-evil warez scene, though.
- lynkz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Man, if Sony just opened this thing up, the PSP would really be so much cooler than it already is now. The homebrew community is really what makes the PSP so cool. And yes, I know, wishing for Sony to open up the PSP is like wishing for DRM to go away. :P
- zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"The best thing is, this flaw is IN THE GAME not the PSP"
Unfortunately, it also makes it very cumbersome to use. It was silly having to browse into the images with 2.0 now it's just getting silly having to load a game to load a game. What will be next? Having to load a game within a game within a game?? - plosfas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Anyone know if emulators on 2.0 firmware versions run slower than on 1.5?"
no. it takes longer to boot them, but they are no slower. - elpayo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0'Vast majority' is a huge exaggeration in the case of 2.6
- rohizzle121, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0RSS + HOMEBREW
- darthstygeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now we have to wait for an ISO loader then were set. still good news though
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sony should just allow it, and should give up fighting this guys emu... lol
- Sniper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Fanjita is a mod at PSPUpdate's...Don't expect him to make this compatible with ISO loaders any time soon.
- SysErr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Why not embrace a platform that encourages homebrew development, like the GPX2? Seems like Sony is sending a clear message: "Indie devr's, we don't want you. Go away!"

Because it's pretty hard to find a GPX2, for one... I even shopped all over China for one, and couldn't even find a single person who knew what it was. And in Canada? Not a chance... If they could get some distribution in North America, instead of just Korea and some parts of Europe, then maybe... I've wanted a GP32 for 2-3 years, but short of Lik-Sang, can't find a way to get one... - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Then he fails at life then. That's what the people want."
I disagree. If you don't have enough money to buy a game then you fail at life. - anthony1124, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone know if emulators on 2.0 firmware versions run slower than on 1.5?
- Glutnix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I knew this day would come! Hey Bartend: Homebrew for all!
- po6ot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Damn Fony! This company's actions are mind-boggling!
Crazy DRM root kit, then they suck the fun out of the PSP. Turning them into PSPBricks. What's next sony? What retarded thing will you think of next???
SONY is part of the EVIL EMPIRE!!!!!!
Fanjita is so cool.
Sony takes out the fun (retards).
Fanjita puts back in the fun (super cool hero).
Sony laugh at their customers and add another firmware update.
Fanjita puts the fun back in.
ad infitum... - mattv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so has anyone actually used this yet? im not about to destroy my psp, yeah?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This works for me because IMO GTA is the only PSP game worth buying ('cept for maybe Hot Shots Golf...no infastructure?). That way, you have GTA and homebrew and RSS...all you need.
...curious about that Killzone portable though...we'll see. - Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Aw crap. Now I have to decide if I want to upgrade to 2.01 now.... Can I downgrade from 2.5 or 2.6?
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0NM, can't play my backup umd isos from mem stick.
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Still rockn on my virgin 1.5 :o)"
Amen to that brotha - PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Damnit (/me kicks PSP)
What about those of us who don't have GTA??? - JaggedEdge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Still rockn on my virgin 1.5 :o)
- nathanstarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The fact that this guy found the loops holes again so soon when people said it was going to take forever. Oh, how does he do it?
Now I can have some real fun with my 2.6 PSP. - punisher18, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0kinda lame ... they still cant get it without having to dupe the system at the startup for gta lc. honestly by now cant they do it any other way ? im not really complaning only just pointing out theyre just using the same flaw over again like they did before. then again im used to hacking my ipods so whatever.
- SupaDawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0GeneHACKman... It's impossible that killzone PSP would be worse than it was on the PS2... I might actually enjoy this (as long as they dont make the mistake of dubbing it the "HALO-killer" again)
and to those who say it's too much of a pain in the ass... GTA is the only UMD that sits in most peoples PSP all the time... and any homebrew is better than no homebrew. - jo42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Moronic management at Sony should completely open up the PSP. Publish all the docs, APIs, etc. Then this little gizmo would take over the world. Want to kill the iPod? Do this.
- PhantomJM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It runs SNES9x just fine at 333MHz. It's a little choppy at lower speeds though. Digg+
- diggidydawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0+digg!
- DelSolMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How does snes run on the psp?
- FourDoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For those not happy about the GTA gamesave load you have to do, remember when the first hacks came out for the PSP:
Memory stick swap method anyone??? LOL
BTW: I'm still on my virgin 1.5 PSP as well. =D - BlackPhantom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool, it runs through A GTA gamesave, very clever and I got it working ^___^
- nuclearpenguins, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Then he fails at life then. That's what the people want.
