Help me choose ... Wii vs. Xbox 360
eliw.blogspot.com — I am in mental anguish as to whether I should get a Wii, or an Xbox 360 this Christmas season. I lay out my personal situation in this article, and would like advice 'from the masses' as to which to get. I think my situation is a common 'overlooked' one. The 'older gamer', who doesn't have much time to game, and has a wife and a 2 year old.

- gizmogear, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Well personally I love nintendo games. So here's how I look at it.
1. You have a GameCube. That means all your gamecube games will now work on the Wii.
2. Wii is cheaper and when you buy the system you get a game (Wii Sports).
Now of course you would want to buy a extra controller and possible games at launch so the price will increase. But if your like me; I'm buying one extra Wii-mote and one game. The cost of the Wii system bundle, the extra controller and extra game doesn't even bring me to what the 360's base system cost is.
3. You must enjoy Nintendo.
I state this because you own a Gamecube and not a 360 already.
So if your unhappy with Nintendo, dump it and get a 360; but, I'm telling you now. The Wii will have unbelievable gameplay. Example: I use to look at Gears of War coming out for the 360 and thought "Holy *****! That game looks amazing!" Now that I've seen Wii Tennis (yes I know... the graphics..) and the gameplay is what gets me. I think wow what would Gears of War or any title for that matter be like on the Wii? After that, there's no other system for me. It's the Wii all the way.
Now, if you don't see a game and think "How would that play on the Wii?" Then it would be safe to say that a xbox 360 would be good for you. If not... then Wii move you.- birdadderley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Don't make it a decision. Buy both.
Mass Effect is enough reason to buy the 360.
The Wii... we'll you'll be left in the dust if you don't.
Wii in November. 360 when Mass Effect comes out.
- birdadderley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Don't make it a decision. Buy both.
- metalmilitiaa, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2id buy the wii dude, the reason being i bought a computer for awesome looking games so there is no need for the 360
- litre_cola, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Since you're going to wait until the Christmas season, why don't you wait to try them both and see which one you like?
Personally, I'm getting a Wii as soon as I can. I have not bought an xbox 360 and don't plan on it. - clint, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I went with the 360 because I was tired of having to upgrade my PC to play the common games. So from my take... I was playing mostly PC titles and didn't want the hassle of a PC (I use a mac for most other things).
Now I come home, hang out with the family (I have a 2 year old as well), then if I have some "me" time we put the 2 year old to sleep I grab a seat and hit the 360. I think the one thing I didn't think about when I first got the 360 is how much I LOVE the Xbox Live. I can jump into a game with people from around the world in seconds and have fun. That adds SOME much value to the games you buy (that have XBL option).
I'm not a Nintendo fan though... never have been... that needs to be mentioned. - snifner, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Get a 360 for yourself.. You have 3 or 4 years before the kid starts crying to play.
The 360 is the best gaming system out right now. I have one in my room and can watch all the movies I recorded in the livingroom on my mediacenter.- EliW, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Actually, that's what the ReplayTV, and DVArchive on my PC are for ... watching movies, and automatically downloaded/converting/transferring Podcasts/etc to the TV.
- xXShadowstormXx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2If I were you, I'd get a 360. For the games that are coming out.
- Halo 3
- Call of Duty 3
- Gears of War
- Bioshock
- Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (LP:EC)
- Battlefield 2142 (if this suits you)
- Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
- Mass Effect
- Forza Motorsport 2 - 11Gofigure11, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0buy both its still cheaper than the PS3`!!
360 way better online gaming x - EliW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well thanks to everyone for their input ... I still have some 'thunking' to do.
