- theDashRendar, on 09/22/2009, -0/+7The best covenant were the elites, and we stopped being allowed to fight them in Halo 2.
- Figgler, on 09/22/2009, -0/+6I agree Halo is overrated but it's also a really ***** fun game. I spent more time playing Halo in High school than I did masturbating, and that's a feat
- macromorgan, on 09/22/2009, -0/+5Bah... ODST can't be all that good; everyone knows the best tea-bagging corpse desecrating character in the Halo universe is Master Chief.
- Bic823, on 09/22/2009, -1/+3Having read the Halo novels, the way this article ***** up the lore annoyed me. It's also depressing that I care that much, but then again I enjoy the backstory of the Halo universe way more than the plot of the games.
(Also, the novels are pretty good, as far as "video game literature" goes...) - TimTheSuperGuy, on 09/22/2009, -0/+1It's the truth.
- acdcfanbill, on 09/22/2009, -1/+2Turning them into tragic characters was an interesting story that I liked though.
- TheScotsman1980, on 09/22/2009, -1/+2The bad guys in Halo are a bit ambiguous and lacking in character in my opinion. I'm sure Peter Jackson expressed the same concerns in an interview I read.
- fitzal77, on 09/22/2009, -0/+1I think I need a little more explanation...
Are you saying that all you do is play Halo 3 while masturbating?
or that Halo 3 is a wank-fest? - NeoCortex, on 09/22/2009, -1/+2I don't know. Sgt. Johnson is pretty badass.
- phylum, on 09/22/2009, -3/+3havent i seen this game somewhere before?
- flyinfoofighter, on 09/22/2009, -1/+1Halo 3 OGC
- theDashRendar, on 09/22/2009, -2/+2Halo 1 was a great game: the gameplay was smooth, the battles were grand and exciting, the story was immersive, and it ended with all its possibilities open - it could go in any direction with the story.
So in Halo 2 they made an akward left turn onto the alien invasion cliche expressway, in which the good aliens and the humans obviously have to team up to stop the misguided bad aliens. The gameplay was disappointing, and playing as some elderly elite having a mid-life crisis was uninvolving. And the ending blew.
Halo 3 offered some decent gameplay, and there is no denying that multiplayer has been quite good through all three games, but the story again sucked. It tried really really hard to come off as dramatic and involving and important, and instead was predictable and annoying (remember having to slow down every 30 seconds for one of Cortana's orgasms). The characters are all bland one dimensional cardboard cutouts, and the Halo universe became a tired rehash of other, better sources.
And now we get Halo ODST, telling a part of a story that has already been resolved, and stopped being good 2 games ago. With a multiplayer mode stolen from Gears of War 2. And Tom Clancy night vision.
Maybe I'd be inclined to pick it up if it was on sale. At discount. And they threw in another, better game. And cake. And Belgium.
(line borrowed shamelessly from Yahtzee) - mhuggins, on 09/22/2009, -1/+1All Halos are better than the number 1?
- watchudo, on 09/22/2009, -7/+4Halo is overrated. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
- rblancarte, on 09/22/2009, -7/+3Halo is overrated
- clippclop, on 09/22/2009, -7/+2So how is halo 1.5 by the way?
Is it as i expect it to be? A milking of the series that is only :good" because it is in the halo universe.
