- g3buz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44hahahah resistance killer.
*wipes drool off chin*
resistance wasn't even the best FPS in the month it was released, i'm pretty certain nobody is trying to make a resistance killer. - Callidus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41I think I'm speaking for a lot of people when I say: You're an idiot.
- PureGamer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31Resistance wasn't the best FPS when it was released because only like five people could play it. (Lol the five people that bought the PS3!11!11111!!!)
- goonbaggins, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Halo 2 had clans well implemented, and H3 will only do it better.
Bungie INVENTED the party system, and are improving it.
I honestly don't want more than 16 players at one time in an FPS. Tight battles in smaller maps with two teams of 4 is where I believe Halo shines like no other.
Also, dedicated servers are not a viable option for halo: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=8455638 - rstarr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28If there are any fun sword glitches in the beta....lets keep it on the low so it stays for the final build.
Are we all in agreement? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23I'm sorry, but Halo 2 has infinitely bigger playerbase than resistance does. I'd even say that the original Halo on XBC and PC has more players than resistance does.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22I bet the day the beta goes live you'll see a bunch of people that can't play it post screenshots and talk about how terrible it looks and how they won't be buying Halo 3 because the free downloadable beta test that they're not playing doesn't look sufficiently pretty.
- mitrovarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22I'd say Resistance was already mostly dead when it came out, via Gears of War. UT3 will be what kills it the rest of the way.
It's kind of a pity, because I hear that it's a good, original game. But it's not worth getting a PS3 for, at least not for me. - PureGamer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25Digg down I replied to the wrong one.
- otatop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20You need the Crackdown disc to play the beta, so once you sell it, no more Halo 3 for you until it's out.
- marspidey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18You're an idiot. That's all I have to say.
- CatalystDM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16To get into the beta:
1. RTFA
2. RTFA!!!
3. Do what it says - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Dugg up for proper use of apostrophe.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15The pic of the shield is actually above the "Will we be seeing anything that we have not yet seen from the Alpha screenshots (and leaks) in the beta?" comment. The comment on the X button was: "Yes. Whether or not it’ll still be mapped to X is subject to change. And honestly, it won't be all that surprising. Just cool." If I had to guess, I'd say sprint and/or cover. Having a button similar to A in Gears of War while still having jump would be pretty freakin sweet.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I wasn't real big on it either, but at least they're putting a battery on it in Halo 3. Personally, I always thought they should get rid of the lunge and just make you move slightly faster or something. The sword is all about being able to get to melee range of your opponent without getting shot, I figured a ninja style speed boost and the ability to swing faster and in different directions would be a good way to make it work. Something to make it feel like you're actually risking your life running at someone to hack them in half with a sword instead of just shooting them with a glowing instakill gun.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16But there's sadly no profit.
- rishdeep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Purchase an invite to try the Halo 3 beta and get a free copy of Crackdown? Sounds good to me.
- skryingbreath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I can never concentrate on the content of their site, the design is too fun to play with.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13@ PaiZuri
You keep telling yourself that about Gears of War and Halo. You sound almost like you've convinced yourself.
It's sad you don't enjoy Xbox 360 games simply because you are a PS3/PC fanboy. Some games are fun simply because they're fun. Who cares what console they're on? Right now I truly feel sorry for you because when you've grown up a bit and are in your 20's or so you'll look back at how you used to be and think, "God, was I that retarded? People must have thought I was an idiot." - KrazyKoala, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I'm gonna go ahead and assume you haven't actually tried Gears of War. Furthermore, yes 40 players online is technically more impressive than 16, but its also much less than the 64/128/5000 (MMO) that PC games can do. That said, I fully believe Halo COULD have 40+ players if they wanted to, but though its technically more impressive, its not more fun. The most fun I have in an FPS is Halo/Halo 2 or Goldeneye. In Battlefield, I can almot never run into my friend and everyone is a stranger. In Xbox Live I can keep it simple, me and a few buddies, and its FUN. The maps aren't too big for 8 players and yet they aren't small, so they don't get boring. I never played Big Team Battle because I liked 4v4 best of all, or even 2v2 in a small map. Remember, games are about fun, not technical achievement.
That's why I don't understand Sony, the PS or the PS2 were not the most powerful systems in their generations, but they had tons of great games. Now Sony's approach isn't about locking down fun exclusive, its about bragging about how big their di#% is, and yet the PS3 has yet to have a game that is "good in bed" using that analogy. - trigger119, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19very nice...I doubt they could suppress any leakage of videos/screenshots anyhow. Any lucky bastards who already got in- I run a website www.gamingtv.org - I have mucho terabytes of bandwidth to burn and will happily host almost any Halo 3 Beta video sent in.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Is honestly wasn't that bad, everyone was just upset after that wait that they'd have to wait more to see the ending just when they thought it was coming up. The elites have always been beasty and the Arbiter was a pretty decent idea even if he could have used armor that doesn't suck and a name that sounds at least somewhat cool. I think the kick in the nuts ending just ruined the rest of it for some people.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10....until Halo 3 comes out.
- andykram, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Q: I’m an experienced beta tester with a PhD in Astrophysics and a minor in messaging Bungie to whine about the beta. Why wasn’t I invited?
^ My favorite part of the FAQ ^ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9There's plenty of profit, just not for you.
- cruzer2727, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I LOVE MY XBOX 360...oh yeah GUITAR HERO 2 !!! this year keeps getting better for xbox 360
- zweben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8That would be cool actually, not just for sniping but for sneaking up on people and hiding.
I really doubt that's what it is though. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I have a feeling Crackdown is going to be the best selling game of all time.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8@ Krymore
They're giving it a limited charge? If that's true then that's awesome. And I agree that they should take out the lunge. Moving faster would make sense because you're not moving around with a bulky weapon in both hands. - marspidey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6May I add to goonbaggins that Halo 2 also has medals and stats. I also don't care for elites and different abilities would ruin the game because I want to fight some one who's only difference is his skill not who they picked.
- CatalystDM, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Personally I think Arbiter is a kick ass name...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think they at least need to give the fleet commander gone crusader some armor that isn't worse than basic grunt armor. They should at least let him wear the gold fleet commander battle armor instead of some engraved pots and pans with a beak.
- PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Okay, the amount of players than can be in a game is NOT a measure of how good it is! Gears of War is about team tactics, so how could you possibly coordinate a team with dozens of people? And I'm sure Resistance has clever gameplay that takes advantage of the chaos involving 40 people.
Just because you can pack 40 people into a game doesn't mean it's five times better than the game that has 8 people. It's all about how the gameplay works and what it's built for. - PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Halo CE = Halo Combat Evolved = Halo 1
- TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I don't mean to be annoying but...
Basically after reading a lot of these posts it all comes down to...
Halo 1 > Halo 2
Make Halo 3 like Halo 1 with Halo 2 online FEATURES(note: Features NOT Gameplay) and we're good to go... - BsSulliv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I wonder if the X button is to lay down? That would make for some interesting sniping situations.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"What a bunch of ***** losers!
The gaming world is laughing their asses off at you pathetic *****.
50 bucks a year for a piece of ***** online game! Paying to reamed in the ass by Microsoft."
Wow....yes....WE are the ones sounding like "pathetic ***** losers" aren't we?
And it's sad that the entire gaming world is "laughing" at all those people who enjoy a game on a console. All 2 million of them that bought the game on day one are so pathetic just because it's a fun game. Yes...that's sad.
You have shown me the error of my ways. I will sell my Xbox 360 now and buy a PS3 and all 3 of it's good games. Can I be cool like you now? Am I now validated in your eyes? - giddieon, on 10/12/2007, -9/+13Lets hope they don't ***** up the single player game.... Halo CE was awesome and Halo 2s single player sucked the cold dead sweat off a dead donkeys balls....
- TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@Krymore
I'm with you about the lunge part...anyone who mastered the melee attack in Halo:CE felt very rewarded by it.......
only to their dismay when they found that in Halo 2 this attack was much easier to utilize, so now everyone does it - Reclaim3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Q: When will it be out? Bungie's Answer: When its out.
Q: How long can we play? Bungie's Answer: As long as it lasts.
Sadly, I didn't learn much. Though some parts were slightly informative like the party system and the inclusion of the mysterious x button. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It's sales, fans, consoles sold, and playerbase beg to differ... Also, who are these "PS3 gamers" of which you speak? The people who couldn't get them to sell on ebay?
- PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I didn't like it because the whole Arbiter thing made me desensitized to the Covenant. In Halo 1 it was so awesome to destroy these evil alien bastards... but then in Halo 2 you're supposed to sympathize with them? This sounds mean, but I really hope the Arbiter gets killed or something in Halo 3.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3no, i think everyone who purchases crackdown will enjoy it all the way til the beta releases a few weeks later.
in the meantime we'll get tons of youtube videos of people doing crazy stuff in crackdown. - alex189a, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That is really cool- I've never seen that concept before.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It would also be amazing if you could some how "block" another sword if you had one by pressing the melee button at the right time. That could make for some very epic sword duels.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As long as they actually turn down the freaking autoaim and use physical bullets instead of damage cones, I'll be happy. I couldn't stand that the standard weapon in that game just emitted a cone of damage in a general area instead of firing actual bullets that would do damage if they hit. The autoaim made sniping a joke too. In Gears I'd stay away from the sniper because I'm honestly not that great. Going back to halo 2 I'll get headshots from across the map without any zoom just by casually flinging the reticle in the target's general direction. Personally, I liked the health system from the original Halo, but I can see why some people wouldn't. At very least I think weapons need to do consistent damage. It's no fun having two people with no shields spamming their shotguns only to have one guy survive 4 shots to the face while the other dies to one shot over his shoulder.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Halo 3 is going to sell better than that it...
- MrLazySmurf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"X" button is for..... Well i don't know how to put it in correct words. Its like the gears of war "A" button that does everything. Wouldn't that be crappy if Bungie copies GOW. Umm anyways the button is used to hide behind cover, that's it... I know this because i kept up with all the Halo 2 hype. For instance the dumb ATV, i was so hyped about this vehicle being in Halo 2; but its only now going to be in Halo 3. They also said they'd give the chief the ability to hide behind cover, which wasn't in Halo 2. And now that everything is being announced, this is the only thing missing from that article. It'd be sad if they already mentioned this feature on the controls. Anyways this also proves that Bungie is running out of ideas for the Halo series, the only thing left for them to do is copy other games. Like the Grenade on Resistance, the force field grenade. Bungie snagged that right up, and even put it in the commercial. They even have the spike grenade. I owned the Xbox and a proud owner of the 360; this is my first PS unit, and I'm happy with it also.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can rent the game...but the only way you can play the beta without being invited is by having the actual Crackdown disc and booting up the beta with the game in your console. You can't "download" anything and then play the beta without the game. Once you return Crackdown there's no way you can keep playing.
