- Gleeky, on 10/12/2007, -2/+61Whoa...the Pistol is back? Bungie truly listens to its fans.
- ezikiel2517, on 10/12/2007, -5/+40I can't wait till November '07.
- IRealityI, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34According to Bungie, the build is over 5 months old.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34Hopefully the pistol zooms...

- IRealityI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23man, i can't wait for the beta!
- Klarth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Yeah, the PS3 is like the PS2, which is like the PS1.
NO *****. - DevinOlsen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23... Why always are leaked videos such bad quality.. Set up a capture card or something. :(. I understand there is the issue that with clarity comes a concern for lack of anonymity... But its so depressing seeing this blurred videos of a potentially gorgeous game.
Also, I realize the animations are all not final, but the way the mongoose seems to move is to 'floaty' for my liking.. - warchant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20M6D pistol...or what appears to be the M6D pistol. This video will get a lot of people thinking!
- Seruphim, on 10/12/2007, -8/+27I'm trying so hard not to get my hopes up about Halo 3, I locked myself in my room for a week after I finished Halo 2, crying "they just forgot to do the ending, thats the only thing that could possibly have happened, does story mean nothing to them?" luckily I later remembered that I have Live and got on and got yelled at by a 14 year old who just learned how to swear....god I can't wait for the mute button
- DBiz, on 10/12/2007, -16/+34WOW! 30 seconds of blurry weapons shooting into the sky!
Bungie could post a video of an employee pissing and you guys would digg it to the front page. - BradW1979, on 10/12/2007, -7/+23Let's hope Microsoft does the third and final Halo right!
- shlemielo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19True, the original pistol was very powerful. On the other hand, I see it as the ultimate balancer. Everyone has one, so it's not a race to see who gets it first and dominates the map (Like Halo 2's sword initially)
- stealth658, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16yeah, except for that whole xbox360 thing..
- CutRock, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17"WOW! 30 seconds of blurry weapons shooting into the sky!"
I can understand how those 30 seconds of blurry weapons can be pretty boring to someone who isn't really into the game, but for me, an avid fan of Halo:CE, this was one of the most exciting videos of the week. Not only did I see that the assault rifle works almost identical to how it worked in halo 1, but also that the pistol has made a return. Also, it is a two handed weapon and it only has 8 bullets, so it's not unlikely that the pistol will be a 3/4 shot kill this time around. - InfinitySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17"ho hum...Halo 3 is like Halo 2 which is very similar to Halo....zzzzzzzzzzzzz"
What, do you only buy the single best game for each system?
Do you only play games written on golden discs, knighted by the Queen, and adorned with rose petals? - namtellum, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14open terminal
sudo apt-get install automatix2
after it is installed, again in terminal
automatix2
then install flash and anything else you see of interest
done. - MrScience, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19Because Microsoft... bought... Bungie...
"Today it is part of Microsoft's Game Studios since being acquired in 2000." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bungie_Studios
They don't just give Bungie money. They pay all the bills and sign all the paychecks. Bungie is Microsoft. - daRoach, on 10/12/2007, -15/+27Same here, but I just have this impending doom feeling that I'm setting myself up for disappointment. I still have the scars from Halo 2.
- j01101010, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11yeah it looks early enough to be an alpha build
whoa. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I'm with you shlemielo.
I hate the fact that there's usually only ONE good weapon on the map and it's a race to get it because it never respawns. I liked the setup in Halo where every weapon respawns no matter who has it. If the 14 year old on my team happens to get to it first because he spawns closer and is subsequently killed within 30 seconds I can still grab the next one that pops up. - KyjL, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Man, I love the quality of this video! I can almost see the textures!
- dard, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13hopefully the three shot pistol head shot is still there. Pistol whip... mmmm....
- jsballardx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Am I the only one that hates it when people say Pwned?
- jake8689, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16it's bungie not microsoft thats doing it microsoft just gives them money
- LogicBomB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8So is this the video of the alpha that shows up as "Pimps at Sea" on xbox live? One of my friend's list contacts plays that now and then and I suppose it would be this.
- groovytrance, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14Alright, I suppose there's no point in arguing against you diggers... especially in the gaming section. Since you play games, you clearly have more knowledge of game production than some one in the industry.
Bungie is the developer for Halo 3.
A devloper: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_developer
Microsoft is the publisher of Halo 3. They fund the developer. They give the developer money.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_publishing
Microsoft owns Bungie. Microsoft is not Bungie. Microsoft is not developing Halo 3. - nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I'm new to Linux (just installed Ubuntu - big surprise) so I was wondering if anyone could help me getting youtube videos to work. It says "click to install plugin" and then it searches for the plugin but it doesn't find any that work. Is there something special I have to do to get these videos (or any videos on a webpage) to work?
- atlex2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8yea but there are 8 screens before you can hit mute
- Biggindude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8It was balanced because it worked well in all areas, but it was never better than other weapons in their respective ranges.
For Example:
Shotgun was better than pistol close range.
Sniper was better than pistol long range.
Rocket was better than pistol medium range.
Et cetera - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@ enforcerpsu
It's a game. It takes place in the future. It was fun and I had no problems with it. Besides, multiplayer matches were MUCH more fun in Halo 1 because there wasn't a lunging sword and every single weapon respawned no matter who was holding on to it. The pistol was also something you needed to work at to get the "easy" three shot kill. It was accurate, true, which meant you had to be good to hit someone with it. At least it didn't have autoaim ability that nearly every Halo 2 weapon has. - macbookpromat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6You're right, they are, because like the PS and PS2 I won't own a PS3 (I have a lack in money).
- adraft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4they were just driving into an invisible wall probably, like piloting a ghost too far out into the ocean on the level with the sea wall in Halo 2 MP
- Lyanto, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8The pistol in Halo 1 was kinda unbalanced'ly powerful. The one in Halo 2 was kinda weak but shot faster. Hopefully Bungie found a good tradeoff between the two...
- strongbadrunner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5This may have crappy quality, but it does confirm a few things, so all I've got to say is that I can't wait until the beta.
- ehavir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Bungie is part of Microsoft.Bungie reports up to Shane Kim in Microsoft Game Studios. The Bungie guys are Microsoft employees and have Microsoft addresses.
That being said, Bungie is the label for the developer, and Microsoft is the label for the publisher. So, if you didn't want to think you were buying a Microsoft product, you could argue the point based on labeling and distribution models. They're the same company though. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@ enforcerpsu
You also weren't supposed to use the weapons at the ranges you described because that wasn't their most effective range. Biggindude had it right the first time. - LegendarySock, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5the finished product is gonna rock.
- NerdyNinja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't think eboy really understands how sequels work. I know, I know, it's a hard concept... but try harder next time. You wouldn't really call it Halo 3 if it didn't bear some similarities to the games before it, now would you? And I'm really glad you can tell us the finer points of the game from blurry video of shooting weapons with placeholder graphics into the sky, I mean wow...
Oh yeah, and this video is junk. - whiteguysamurai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ah yes, my beloved nickel plated handgun.
How i have missed you. - CatalystDM, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I don't think you can read into the appearance of the weapons at all... as the story says, they're most likely merely placeholders. I really doubt Bungie would return to the appearance of the Halo 1 weaponry even if they did return to that functionality somewhat.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Better yet...if it had an age verification program to filter out the under 17 year olds completely.
- DevinOlsen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3But there is more to worry about then just your build number. Every time you were killed you'd have to blur your name.. and if you wanted to be completely safe you'd have to blur the names of all the people in the game with you.
- macbookpromat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Depends on the pronunciation. I dislike poned, but if you say pwned as owned, it's okay.
- mrRB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sweet, pedant fight!
- wired4u, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Try installing flash. Try and follow this guide http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/flash
- MikeWeller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not a windows fanboy by any margin, but installing flash is trivial on windows... I also have problems like this when I'm setting up Linux. I guess it's partly a fault of Firefox for not being able to pick up a flash plugin... I mean come on, flash is the number 1 thing that almost all users will get, it should be simple to install.
