- Sep11insidejob, on 10/12/2007, -5/+66The TF2 screenshots are from the video they released. Please show something new. *****
I was all exited. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+59You know what?
YOU SUCK. - purple, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34Both halves of your life suck.
- rbtopp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22Your an idiot if you choose the 360 version over the pc version for the simple fact of all the all the custom maps people will make for the game never mind the fact that a mouse and keyboard is infinitely better for fps than a controller.
- msergeant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Yeah I exited when I saw the screenshots too. Ohh wait, you mean excited.
- creoleplane, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18I can't wait for TCF 2. I just hope they put the grapple back in. Anyone who's played the original Team Fortress for Quake should agree. Love the art style of TF2. To thenik, go with the PC version dude. TF's style of movement just wouldn't work with the analog sticks, not to mentiong FPS games on a console are just a joke.
- nubnub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Just still frames of the video... retarded
- revenge7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11The trailer on the 360 marketplace is really good.
Scouts are crazy. You run around and hit people with a club.
EDIT: Oh, these are FROM the trailer on the marketplace. Which came out months ago. - diggfinity, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Still waiting for Episode Two ... it's gonna be Crescent Fresh.
- maong, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11What is oddest to me is that somehow... these stylized characters look more realistic to me than the overly shiny "photo-realistic" heroes in most of the games today.
odd, isn't it. - Gogogo111, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Why are people digging him down? He's telling the truth. I cannot see this game working WELL (I didn't say it wouldn't work at all) with joysticks, rather then a mouse.
- Riffz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The only reason for the delays is because of the PS3 and X360 ports. All of us waiting on the PC version get the shaft having to wait for a universal release on all platforms.
- Clearz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'm still waiting for the first ;-)
- brivix, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9What? I am a Halo and Half-Life fan..(fan.. not fanboy)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4More importantly, this has screens for Portal, the wicked teleportation mini-game!
- violentvinyl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Amen! I'm loving the episodic content. I'm hoping this isn't the last of the releases. I played through Episode One a second time with the Commentary on even. It's cool to get a behind the scenes, but they talk about all this material that got cut out for various reasons, and it seems like its almost enough stuff to make another game out of. They need to take another cue from Hollywood and put the Deleted Scenes in as additional features, even if it is a little rough around the edges.
- blueigloo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7yea pretty lame. We want new stuff, not ***** regurgitated from the freaking trailer!
- AReallyGoodName, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@goosnargh
There most definitely was a grappling hook in Quakeworld Team Fortress. It was turned off by default in later versions (2.0 and above) as it was very exploitable, the console command to enable it on the server was
"temp1 1024"
Earlier versions of Quake Team Fortess had it on by default. - twinmatrix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Valve is always slow but when they come they will be great.
- Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The new art style makes the game look like a game built for the sake of being fun. It's probably one of those games where you can laugh at even the different ways you can get killed.
- Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This one will probably be longer with some sort of engine update. I think it's worth the wait. Besides I'm sure you've got at least 500 other games to play while ya wait. Quit whining.
- mochzr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You have to see the video of TF2. In still shots, it looks pretty retarded, but in motion, it really comes alive and it's very convincing. I went from "wow they totally f*cked it up" to "wow they have my $20"
- rgov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2TFC2... Because modernizing it so that a new generation of gamers (not to mention PCs) can enjoy a fresh look at an otherwise dated game is a worthy tribute to its fans.
- Gir53457, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm still waiting for the second coming of Jesus.
- reknaps, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Burried as lame and super old (not the games, just the info. Im dying for TF2)
- Promantarius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I feel fairly safe saying that Half-Life is traditionally designed to be played on a PC, then ported to consoles to spread the love and make some more money. If we assume that is true then trying to decide between a console port and a PC version is not really a difficult choice especially since the mouse + keyboard system is far superior to that of a controller - you can do things far faster and with many more options. Also, I'm not sure if the 360 would support the whole range of user-created custom maps, models and even server modifications that make PC gaming fairly unique - can you actually load all of those and run your own servers for X-Box versions of Half-Life 2 and it's associated modifications?
If your computer is able to handle it well there's really no point considering the X-Box 360 option, the PC is superior in this genre. - gte879p, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DJedi will no doubt beat REM and Ht, WM, BH, UN, im12, and ciab on 2fort4, well6 and 32smooth with double conc jumps out of the flag rooms during double overtime despite full D.
Heh, does anyone else still idle with their original quake TF clans in irc? #digital, #hostile, #ciab on irc.gamesurge.net
Kickin it old school
Avatar[DJedi] - Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The portals in Prey were fun enough to toy around with. I can't wait.
- mymidgetfriend, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well obviously HL2 became Valve's priority so TF2 was put on hold until they had enough time and manpower to work on it again. If you look what TF2 used to be like you'll see that it's basically the same as every other "war" game out there (ex. BF2).
I remember being pretty excited when I first saw those TF2 screenshots with the awesome graphics and realistic player models way back then, but that game didn't really mesh with the fast-paced cartoony style that has been a staple of the TF games. As long as TF2 plays like it looks in those trailers then we are in for one most unique multiplayer FPS experiences on the PC to date while still keeping the spirit of the previous games in the series intact. - armourer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone think it looks a bit like evil genius?
Not that that's a bad thing; quite the contrary - talman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here is the trailer that was released, obvious screenshots from this.
http://storefront.steampowered.com/v2/index.php?area=game&AppId=923 - mymidgetfriend, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I almost feel ashamed for not having noticed that in the description.
- skaughtm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2apparently dugg down for a lack of comma?
- freakgd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i want cs:source wit tat
- blusky75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love the refreshing art direction this game is taking ;-) I do wish more game studios would take notice.
It's interesting however that while folks here generally applaud this move with TF2, Nintendo tried a similar art style with Windwaker and was ultimately received with mixed critiques (am I the only one who thinks that Twilight Princess is a step in the wrong direction art-wise?). Oh well...
One could only hope more games come out with this level of visual calibre, and be well-received to boot. - mlkmnz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"I wish they'd improve the game rules. Instead this is just a graphics refresh (judging from the trailer)."
Tip: You're an idiot. Trailers never show you anything, and the game rules from the original are just fine by me. - bastardo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Dugg down for the use of the stupid, stupid word "Chilluns".
- Nocturnalis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Why did he get dugg down b/c he is debating wheather to get the 360 or PC version? Not everyone wants to be confined to a PC monitor for another 4-6 hours to play HL. Being that it is even available for the 360 is great b/c now people can enjoy this game on big screen TV's.
It's not like he came here to flame the game. He is clearly a supporter.
I can't see why he would called an idiot if he went with the 360. - scar3crow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1TFC2... Because changing it to a cartoony look and adding background details to the same map layouts and giving the Scout a club is worthy of a sequel.
*hops back onto a Quake TF server* - stisaac, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I wish they'd improve the game rules. Instead this is just a graphics refresh (judging from the trailer).
- goosnargh, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I'm guessing:
- "TCF 2"
- Regular QWTF didn't have a grappling hook, that was MegaTF
- Clueless Halo fanboys who've never played Quake or any other FPS on a PC
but anyway I dugg him up for the last sentence - Pirate45, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I liked the way it looked a lot better when it was first previewed a long time ago. Looked more like an actual army. But I'm sure it will be a lot of fun when it comes out.
- rafikikill, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2***** team fortress stepped up a hell of alot!
- fcra, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1What a shame. The original TF2 8 years ago looked badass, now it's turned into a cheesy user mod. At what point did they just give up?
- xerus, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4Me too! I love waiting two years for 3 hours of gameplay! Wait, I mean 2 hours of gameplay and 1 hour of dialogue! Its so great!
- Tanpreet, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3cant wait for this game to come out for ps3 :)
- rgov, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2No, your an idiot.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0Really? Do you work at Valve? Last I heard Valve wasn't sharing any exact reasons for the delay with the general public.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3Man, I'm so excited for this. I'm debating whether to get the 360 version or the PC version. :(
