- tobsterius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2uh.. they didn't lose their source code buddy, it was stolen. Spend millions in development and see how it feels to have your hard work ripped from you and distributed on the net for all(including the competition) to see. It's not a great feeling.
Release dates are pointless. Games should be released when they are ready not rushed to market to please the bitchy game community.
Developers can't seem to win, either you release to early and you hear the complaints of the bugs and glitches in the game, or you wait until the game is perfect as it could be and you hear complaints that they took so damn long.
Patience is a virtue, as they say.
Of course, this comment will most likely be ignored... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1one word: sweet
- CaptSnuffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yay, games my pc can't handle at decent settings
I'll still play it, graphics aren't everything. I'm actually looking forward to playing it, if it's as immersive as HL2 was i'll be more than satisfied. - Ninj4pirat3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0very nice, I think I beat HL2 4 times?
- Hiren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice article.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thatedeguy: this isn't a dupe
- penguinix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They say that its isn't for the minimum systems. Well do you guys think it will run on a 2.0 mobile with a gig of ram and a radeon x700m?
- manfesto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"However, all is not lost, if you excuse the pun. The system used to demonstrate the game to us today was an Athlon 64 3800+ with 2GB of RAM and a GeForce 6800GT - high end for many people, but not stratospheric. If you needed further proof, the 1024x768 2xAA screenshots featured in this article were taken on a 1.6Ghz Centrino notebook with only 1GB of RAM and an aging 128MB FireGL graphics card. True, it ran at 10FPS at High Detail, but it was playable enough to appreciate the overall achievement."
Their "low end" is STILL more than my computer has - but it's not like playing through half life 2 at 800x600 on medium somehow made it less of a game. - paintball102089, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so when is it coming out
- alpha7q, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lawl, this will burn my 6600GT oc'd toa 6800 in a flash
- Edgen22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was able to play Half Life 2 with my computer just fine:
AMD Athlon XP 1.6 Ghz
Radeon 9200 SE 128 MB
512 MB Memory
Settings were at medium-low, full screen at 1280x960. - Brak710101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I know I beat all of the HL games/mods at least twice each, but i am working on my first Blue shift right now.
Can't wait, I need to give my dual 7800GTXs a workout! - TheOneWhoIsMany, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0any one else notice the doom box in this picture :P ?
check out the stack of boxes on the right hand side of his desk.

- Weezel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm screwed. Time to go dump 2500$ for new system.

- spartan777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0amazing. simply amazing. those are the kind of graphics the ps3 or xbox360 could only HOPE to have one day. i'll have 'em on my computer in 15!! (estimation)
- piesforyou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Rofl. They're are effectively saying:
"Once you've played a game with this technology, alllll your other games are going to look like crap. Enjoy!"
Good job my (new) system is going to need an upgrade to play this thing! It does look awesome though... - gerphimum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0rm999:
yeah he is kind of fat, but he's a bit less than a "fat, bumbling *****" imo. besides, hl2 rapes face so who cares how fat the guy is, so long as he can continue to make wicked awesome games - spartan777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ps: thats assuming my 2gigs of ddr will come by then from newegg.
- CompIsMyRx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I hope the minimum requirements are at least consistent with my system:
Athlon 3000+ Venice (easily overclockable if need be).
1 Gig DDR 400 Corsair Value brand (dual-channel)
Nvidia 6600GT PCI-E
17" AVidAV moniter. (DVI). - TVarmy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Any ideas how this will play on a Athlon XP 2500+ overclocked to 2ghz with 512 MB of ram, and an ATI AIW 9600?
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"Thus begins Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, as introduced by Valve founder and Managing Director, industry legend Gabe Newell."
They call that fat, bumbling ***** a legend? After running a group that takes 6 years to develop a title and losing their source code through his meagerly protected pc? I've taken dumps that were more legendary. - rm999, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Please don't declare posts "winners." It is really lame.
Thank you.
ps. he is pretty fat. Just sayin' - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Why are the guns so shiny?? It's ugly.
- gerphimum, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0solisnk wins.

Gabe Newell ***** owns your life buddy. - thatedeguy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0This and it's dupe made it to the front page. There should be a requirement to search for dupes before posting. Oh! What? There is? Then maybe there should be a requirement ot search for dupes before digging.
