- shaun1018, on 11/01/2007, -3/+168HD - Almost like actually being there
YouTube - Almost like actually being there with bleach splashed in your eyes. - artofwar420, on 10/12/2007, -3/+69Here's the higher quality version: http://stage6.divx.com/content/show/1137289 Enjoy :)
- chunkbot, on 10/12/2007, -4/+64totally fake. Those aren't real lightsabers.
- UtOh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29That was amazing! Favorite move has to be at 4:22. I wish I had seen that coming
- diggaddictive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30I feel kinda stupid now, guys. But if you do go to www.ryanvsdorkman.com you can find the High Definition version. Thanks for the comments.
- artofwar420, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27You.
- doggans, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Ryan and Mike still did basically everything by themselves (Except the music and actual camera work). The names in the credits were just people (myself included) who donated money to help pay for the location, musicians, etc.
- wolferz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Jedi have the ability to "see" 360 degrees in every direction on every axis at all times in addition to "seeing" all of this a hand full of seconds before they actually happen. It has to do with the force energy put out by all living things and light sabers in particular. Even if a jedi does expose his back this doesn't necessarily mean he has left himself open. You can't judge a jedi light saber fight by the same standards as real sword fights.
Secondly yeh, it's fandom stuff, so no its not going to be realistic. Cool sword fights, jedi or otherwise, are flashy. It's the old Hollywood vs history deal. A sword fight that ends quickly is a boring sword fight. - Daedalus17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Dude if they were actually sword fighting it would probably never last more then 30 seconds.
- LiquidChimera, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Dugg for 4:22
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Congrats on the well put together project! That was a great watch, and watched it a few times, and will be showing that to many people. Thank you for the great entertainment.
- wolferz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8lol, wow. Just wow. On every level this was awesome. Not only the choreography and effects but even the ideas themselves were terrific. I find myself wanting to watch sith vs sith fights more often. Fighting dirty with jedi powers is cool.
Favorite part though has to be when both jedi (sith?) are disarmed and instead of fist fighting they go running for the light sabers. - jedicor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Awesome work, definitely an upgrade from episode one. I wish I had the talent to do either the stunt work or the graphical work. I enjoyed both the first one and this new one. Totally worth downloading in HD. Some people complain about the wooden movements and such, but without a professional choreographer and a huge budget, this is pretty slick. Someone who goes to the extent that they have, to do something of this caliber, can act it however they want.
...and yet, I had only one real beef. After showing how dramatically accurate they can be rendering scorch/damage via lightsabers, they make the point of impaling one actor's shoulder with the saber. I'll suspend disbelief that it doesn't impair his ability to later hurl the lightsaber as hard as he did since he has Force powers and all. However, this actor gets up five seconds later with absolutely no impact damage of any kind. There is no evidence that the lightsaber, which was clearly driven completely through him, has ever touched his him in any way. Worse, at 7:00 in, they give you a direct-view show of the damaged area.
We're geeks. We notice things like this. Sorry. :) - donjaime, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10http://stage6.divx.com/content/show/1137289
HD version ^ - antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10"Thank you for not suing us, George." hahaha
Fantastic film! - Elfman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The first one was pretty good, but this one is on another level entirely!
These two guys just lived and reenacted my childhood dreams!. - Wolfie351, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I was thinking the same thing, donjaime. I really enjoyed it though. Now, only if they can find 20 "producers" to get them something decent to wear for the next one. I realize the whole point is to put two normal, perhaps geeky, looking people as Jedi. But during an action sequence, I really don't want to see some skinny guy's t-shirt fly up and expose their mid-section. Action movie rule #73, if your hero has the forearms of a 10 year old, put them in long sleeves. Which is also why I, personally, wear long sleeves.
- doggans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You don't need to install anything, except maybe a DivX player of some sort. (VLC will work fine.) Just click "Download" instead of "Play Video", or right-click and save this link: http://video.stage6.com/427387/1137289.divx
- jackarmstrong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8In the description part of the YouTube page there's a link to the HD version. Definitely go for that one - youtube couldn't possibly do this film justice.
- CapeKid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"is it just me or are their lightsabers a bit short?"
Actually no it isn't just you... that's also what she said - killinger777, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6That's some funny *****.
- RobotCitizen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5One more thing. When will Jedi discover the usefulness of wrist straps?
- NeoRicen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Holy *****, that was better than all the fights in the actual films.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6HD = high definition (i.e. high resolution)
- LoompaOompa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4problem with a wrist strap is if you drop your lightsaber and it hangs on the strap its going to swing into your leg. You're going to have to hop around on one foot for the rest of you're life.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+91) There is nothing HD about YouTube
2) Most popular Star Wars fan films use original soundtracks, and have been doing so for years - drgordonfreeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I loved the part against the wall. Maybe the choreography was wooden but I was distracted by the incredible pyrotechnic effects.
- Evi1d33d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Good stuff
- btgoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3HERE DIS... sheesh
- Pilot85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wow, that was way cool. Awesome what you can do with a tiny budget and some talent these days.
- tristanbethe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Impressive! most impressive!
So well done! but is it just me or are their lightsabers a bit short? - themarq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Calm down Francis. It's hosted on the Divx site it really shouldn't come as a big shock that you have to install their (nearly ubiquitous) player to view it.
- canuck21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is that guy the Blue Power Ranger? http://www.powerrangers.ru/Morphin/rangers/mrbilly.jpg
- dickeytk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I personally think that stage6 site kicks ass, well worth downloading the player
- doggans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ryan currently works for Stargate Digital, the company that does the effects for many network television shows including "Heroes". Before that, he worked for LucasArts on some of the Star Wars games, as a result of the original RVD.
- doggans, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Not even a sentence like "The More Info section on the YouTube page includes a link to the HD version"?
- MasherSCF, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I hate to get my comment buried for being critical. However, Am I alone in thinking that these light-saber fights are really getting boring? I mean, the whole Darth Maul fight kicked ass in 1999. But, since then the fights have been a little played. "The Revenge of the Sith" was like one, long, boring light saber fight. I found this video to me technically marvelous and well staged. Nevertheless, I couldn't help yawning at least half-way though. This video is at least as good has anything Lucas has put together. Sadly, I think the whole light-saber genre has lost it's glow for me.
- anarchtica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you donated money to the project you were listed as a producer or executive producer depending on how much you donated.
- doggans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No, HD on Stage6, linked to on the YouTube page.
- theundone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Really good effects but I still like the first one best.
- monkeyman08854, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Today we learn that fighting with laser swords leads to nothing but pain. It happened with Luke. It happened with Anakin, and now with these guys...
did anybody else think
" 'tis but a flesh wound." - bat-21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh! Had enough, eh? Come back and take what's coming to you, you yellow bastards! Come back here and take what's coming to you! I'll bite your legs off!
- RobotCitizen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Better choreography and camera work than the actual films. These guys have a good eye for filming action.
But Ryan needs to discover the concept of "wardrobe". What's with the T-shirt? - Conway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Except how to spell apparently.
- LLamaStar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anyone know why there are so many producers for such a short film?
- idtguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can see this film live in two weeks at this film festival http://www.wizardworldfilmfest.com/ I think Ryan and Dorkman will be there too.
- mediaphile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually, the cinematography was really poor. The lighting was extremely flat, no visual drama whatsoever. And for the most part, the lightsabers don't seem to give off any light to the rest of the set, including reflections in metallic surfaces. No attention was payed to detail. As usual, this was all about sfx and action, not story and drama.
- philomatic, on 02/08/2009, -0/+1Awesome production values... too bad they didn't hire decent actors, the current ones just make the whole thing look cheesy
- captainbeah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Freaking Intense!
