- peterjmag, on 11/12/2007, -5/+37Cool, that means I'll be able to get it for free!
- andritchie, on 11/12/2007, -1/+23Then you can put a strap on your keyboard and rock out.
- Croathlete, on 10/18/2007, -0/+19Buy songs off Xbox live every few weeks or download hundreds of user created content for free...hmmmmm
I think this is a no-brainer if you already have the guitar. - alok0, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16You can't connect your computer to your TV?
- tuxidomasx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16mods, mods, and more mods
done right, this could be huge - DaleoftheUK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Cool that it's on the PC, I was surprised to see mac support. Woot.
- astrotrain, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9
I knew there was another use for a QWERTY keyboard... - daridave, on 11/12/2007, -4/+13Yeah, they even have a few torrents of the guitar up already...... idiot.
- IHaveIssues, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8You mean "Frets on Fire"?
- Araxen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8PC version will be huge once the mod community sinks their teeth in!
- CapeKid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Well, if you already own a guitar controller for another system, most of them can connect to the computer also. Though a $10 ps2->usb converter might need to be bought.
- goingtoalpha, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10Why do i remember reading this on here yesterday?
- MioTheGreat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I'm sure Vista will ask your consent exactly once, and only once, when you go to install the game, to elevate the installer.
- inactive, on 10/27/2007, -3/+7Yeah, and it's also slow as *****, ugly, and nowhere near as great as Guitar Hero. Just because something is open source and free doesn't mean it's better. Jesus Christ you people are ***** retarded.
- Jereso, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7So custom songs just got easier, sweet.
- shortarabguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Uh... no it didn't...
Frets on fire is exactly what one would expect of a free copycat of a good game: lame controls and minimal features. Besides, you still have to buy a guitar if you want not to look like an idiot with a keyboard. - adz999, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Ignorance...
- whiteyMcBrown, on 10/10/2007, -7/+11I don't see this version really taking off. It's a social thing. Crowding around a television is the better experience.
- InnerBlueAbyss, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Guitar hero on my Laptop at work? Im in.
- Coven, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Sarcasm > You
- toxicityj, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7i doubt a fraction of the 5% marketshare that macs hold will be that big of a deal to any gaming publisher.
- ftgarcia, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Have you seen Guitar Hero? It runs on a PS2 are you trying to say the Macbook and Mini aren't up to snuff? Hell this will be able to run on an older G4. It definitely isn't going to be a resource hungry game at all, ignorant comment ....
- vawksel, on 11/12/2007, -1/+3Until they lock it out with a new PC only guitar.
- nicko68, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Isn't that what all games are though? Pressing buttons/moving joysticks/turning wheels at the right time?
- slimdizzy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2same here, ps2 guitar with usb adapter in FoF works great.
- bbene, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4It will most likely be able to run on a Macbook or Mini. You can already play FretsOnFire on both.
- nicko68, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2What do you mean you're not following a rhythm? Do you think the colors are laid out randomly? No, they are laid out in a pattern which is synched to the rhythm of the song (the higher the skill level, the more complete the match). GH does have a small window to allow for timing errors, but really you need to be very close to the actual rhythm of the music.
- PremiumBitter, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I'm betting the PS3 guitars can probably be rigged up/hacked to run on the PC...
I mean it is bluetooth...right? - doshindude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2yeah. Buried as duplicate.
it's still in the top 10:
http://digg.com/pc_games/Guitar_Hero_III_coming_to_Mac_and_PC_this_Fall - shortarabguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2How is that any more suspicious than playing in front of your tv?
It'll be cool to see lan games and stuff though... That way you can focus on your own notes more easily. - IHaveIssues, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Who are these people who equate being good at GH to being a good guitar player? Show me these people. Is this the same group that thinks that because they kick ass in Gears of War that they are ready to be Navy Seals?
Yes, I am laughing at you. - astrotrain, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1GH PC Case mod would be someone fitting an entire PC into a Fender Guitar...which would be Chuck Berry Red...
- doshindude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Imagine the online play hackers.
- astrotrain, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5Survey Says ... [X][X][X]
ATI makes loads of Graphic cards to allow you to import/export video from your PC... games included. - nicko68, on 10/27/2007, -2/+3Yeah, and it has crappy graphics, and no support for whammying or Star Power.
Lame. - Croathlete, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1...and I'm laughing at the continuous misuse of "you're".
- KingGorilla, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I needs my star power!!! It makes me feel awesome, because I'm not :(
- Shirt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That's right, Billy!
- ShitISayIsBelow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Best news, gaming wise, I've heard in weeks, totally ***** getting this just to edit the songs
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So does my PS2 to USB adaptor. It's still *****.
- SDL486, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Since I don't feel like investing into any new console I have to say this is just sick. There will be so many mods and hacks it might be better than console versions. It will be my downfall
- ColorBlind, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
- ftgarcia, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i second that.... frets on fire is only saved by the fact that you can have unlimited user created content on it....as far as the play mechanics it pales in comparison to guitar hero.... it is slow laggy and just generally plays like ***** ... guitar zero is another third party clone released for the PC and it amazingly plays a whole lot closer to the real deal ... too bad it was released and discontinued by the author a long long time ago and never open sourced.....
- phort99, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Why would you need to rig/hack anything to get your own official peripherals to work on a game by the same publisher? If anything, I think they'd encourage people to use their existing controllers with it, in order to get a larger audience for the PC/Mac versions... on Mac it'd be no problem since half of all macs have Bluetooth now anyway.
- BigDumbYak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Golly! Thanks for the insight! Does this also mean that since I'm good at Gran Turismo that there's no way I could ever drive a real car?
Wow!
You Sir/Madam are obviously a very brilliant person. But since you typed a readable post on Digg, doesn't that, by your logic, mean that you cannot write with a pen?
Suck it up, it's a video game. If I wanted to play a real guitar and put hundreds of hours into perfecting Welcome to the Jungle, I'd do that. If I want to pick up a controller and play a video game, I'll do that. - chris, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3why is he an idiot? you'll be able to buy the guitars separate just like you can now...
- obiethedog, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5Guitar Hero-3 80's, costumed dance-off can now be played in public on my laptop? (not just wasted in the comfort of friend's homes?) Wonderful!
- marc2982, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Friggin' finally! I don't know how many more songs I can play on my keyboard...
- saegiru, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1...and when Mighty Horse rocks, he rocks a fat ass.
- RichLatherX23, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Why not just get a PS2 guitar and a USB-to-PS2 adapter cable from Radio Shack? That's what I plan to do.
