- richlizard24, on 10/12/2007, -4/+39Maybe there will be a smash the guitar feature where you mimic the motion of smashing a guitar.
- BigBo0st510, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24Cool. Can't wait to see how they use the Wii features on Guitar Hero.
- FrankieB078, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13When people stop buying it.
- blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Frankie, you suffer from retardation. He meant that the other way. As in the Wii won't have those things. Seriously, no one expects the Wii to outdo 360/PS3 in graphics, and how can it have decent downloadable content with 512MB storage? Also there's supposedly no third party online allowed till next year...
Wow Wii kinda needs to get it's ass in gear. Lucky it's still fun as hell. - madaznboi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I for one am hoping for a wireless Guitar Hero shell where one could just insert the remote, it's already got bluetooth functionality as well as a slot for peripherals. A standalone guitar that plugs via wire into the remote like the classic controller/nunchuk would be bad hardware planning on their part. Remote loading like the Zapper prototype is the way to go to lower cost as well as make use of existing capable hardware.
- SurrealDream, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12@richlizard24 : Dude, that would, like, SO totally RAWK!
No really, how cool would it be if the Wii-mote could sense you freewheeling your strumming hand in large circles, and portray a similar animation on screen and maybe give you extra points depending on how risky some of the moves are?
They could even throw in the Homer Simpson "Baaby Baaaby BAAAABY!" move where he twirls the guitar over his head by the cord :D - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9the guitar thats included better be a flying 'vii'
- blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Not or--AND my friend, and. PS2 PS3 360 Wii. It's a multi-console festival of music and love...and metal...there's a fair amount of metal in there too.
- SurrealDream, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@Coheedcollapse:
I agree to an extent, if they don't make the extra moves necessary to the game system. Like, if you DO pull off risky moves which could cause you to mess up a streak, the only benefit you get from it is extra points (or maybe unlockables for performing certain moves at certain points in a song, like in the Burnout series). You WOULDN'T be penalised for attempting them (other than ruining your streak, which is your own fault for messing it up). Activating the star meter boost by tilting the controller works on this premise.
I'd hate it if the manic arm spinning was necessary to complete a song, (ie, to sound a chord, you had to do a stupid manouver) cause that would make the game too bloated and detract from it's simplicity.
As long as they make it so that the fun, showy stuff is seperate from the main music game, I'll be well up for it! - skywake, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8@ts8lemonade
replace "Wii" with "PS3" or "360" and I would digg you down just the same
the product is popular and stories relating to it are getting dugg because its popular
get the ***** over it...... - maggiemerc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Man maybe you missed it but Guitar Hero is for hardcore and casual a like.
Yeah that soccer mom isn't going to spend all afternoon working on Cowboys From Hell (she as to pick the kids up don't you know), but she will blow through Sedated while being cheered by the rest of the family in a group setting. - SuperBloomie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"Guitar Hero 3 for the Playstation 2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii are currently scheduled for release in the United States in Fall of 2007."-- redoctane.us
when are they going to stop making it for the PS2 though? - Septimus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Except any decent storage.
- coolyfooly88, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Ugh, please, no motion control. Just guitar and game please.
- brombie, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I love Wii but I'm hard pressed to think why I'd rather get this than the 360/PS3 version which will definitely have downloadables and better graphics, as insignificant as it is on a game like this, but for the same price, why not?
Maybe:
- The Wii version is cheaper since it'll have less moving parts since it'll just house the wiimote and doesn't need its own wireless transmitter, etc.
- Motions are now part of playing the song. For example, tapping the guitar, choking the neck, etc.
- Ask you to move around DDR style. Just kidding. That'll be horrible. - INHUMANITY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I would be completly content with a wireless guitar and all the new goodies that part 3 would contain.
I really hope the Wii-mote isn't used in anyway. - blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The hell? I put the link to the Red Octane support page in that comment...disappeared. O well, http://www.redoctane.us/support-center/index.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=96
"Guitar Hero 2 for Playstation 2 launched 11/7/2006, Xbox 360 launched 4/3/2007 and both items are shipping now. Please check www.guitarherogame.com and www.redoctane.com for the most current information.
Guitar Hero 3 for the Playstation 2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii are currently scheduled for release in the United States in Fall of 2007." - crypticgeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4NONE, I hope. Games where they tack on Wii specific features to an existing game are awful.
Then why would you buy it I ask? Uhhh, because not everyone has an xbox 360 and a ps3? - Xspire, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Rockband, and this at the end of the year? This just proves that there is a god.
- blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Yayy!!!!! More Guitar Hero!!!!! :D /giddy like a school girl
- theragu40, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Has anyone else noticed that the Red Octane forum post that the article points to actually says nothing about the game coming to Wii? I mean, I hope it does, but there's really no proof at all.
- ts8lemonade, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Maybe I wasn't clear, I meant the ps3/360 version would probably have downloadable content, online multiplayer, and better graphics. Hell I know the wii probably won't have any of that.
- doshindude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4the Wii external HD is coming out though.
- gadgetuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@kapsar
What's stopping the other consoles making GH3 use a wireless guitar? - kapsar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Honestly i think the only real advantage is that the guitar will be wireless. It would be totally awesome to have the guitar let you really do air guitar stuff. Otherwise i think it'll be very similar to the other systems.
What would be really sweet is if they rigged an attachment that would let you play a real guitar through the Wii and teach you how to play the thing. - CrushThemTorg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Maybe I'll be able to find a store that has Wiis in stock by then.
- Corqueatsz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hardcore guitar and rock fans?
Are you joking?
Surely the hardcore guitar and rock fans are the ones crying about Guitar Hero not being the same as playing real guitar, or bitching because "there's too much metal!" It's the perfect game to market to the casual audience because you get results for your effort regardless of how much time you put into it. Not to mention the focus on rock would surely interest the older generations who grew up with it.
And loltroll, I don't think Shigeru has anything to do with RedOctane.
IT'S JUST A CRAZY NOTION OF MINE. - or3n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1now we just need a drum simulation game for Wii
Two Wii Remotes + Rumble FTW!! - obsoletepower, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yaaa! So excited about this, I can't wait :)
- mjande, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I noticed. According to blahtastic 11 hrs ago the statement said:
"Guitar Hero 3 for the Playstation 2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii are currently scheduled for release in the United States in Fall of 2007."
but that comment isn't there any longer. Wonder if the tech support wasn't supposed to say anything or if it isn't true about bringing it to the Wii. - gungaroo22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, if you look at how DDR is going to work (wired dance pad) and the wired 360 guitar, I wouldn't be so hyped about a wireless guitar.
The odds are currently stacked against it. - madaznboi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Yet another user that thinks to be cool and hardcore you have to blast your 360/PS3 with crazy graphics and blood extreme. Funny enough I fit in target demographic for the aforementioned systems (18-24 years old), yet I'm enjoying my Wii, DS and I love watching sports and HD content on my 60inch Sony SXRD.
Just because I am not a hardcore rock fan doesn't mean I don't enjoy rocking out on Guitar Hero at my friends place. I for one can't wait to bring GH3 home to my Wii. - ts8lemonade, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8Except, you know, all the downloadable content, better graphics, and perhaps online multiplayer. Sure, no different at all.
- MrNolan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd like to see them add a third player option for the wii. Don't touch the game as it is right now. Player one gets the lead guitar, player two playing the bass, and let the third guy waiting for his turn bang out a drum line with the Wiimote and nunchuck. It doesn't have to be great but it would be a hell of a lot of fun. You've got at least six different drums you can hit by holding either of the two main buttons on the two remotes. Hell, the guy waiting for his turn is probably tapping out the beat on the arm of the couch anyway. Put a remote in his hand. Rock out by swinging the sticks over your head, good times. It doesn't have to be a big part of the game for people that would hate it but it would be a cool option if you had the extra people around.
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How about a Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar hero and Karaoke revolution mash up? :)
- chrislee149, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, the previous estimation was GH2 in 2008. I'm thanking the heavens for GH3 in mid-2007.
- dalesmatrix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1bugger, I was hoping GH2 would make it to the Wii earlier than that.
- Nin10dude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@gadgetuk
I believe it's because another company (probably Konami, seeing as no other company has a game that would use a guitar peripheral...) has a patent on a wireless guitar controller. Using the Wii controller for its wireless might be a way around the patent. I'm not totally sure about that, though, so don't quote me on it. - PsychoticClown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ok maggie :|
- Zoxy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I meant more in the operation of the wii. There is a people saying how great its going to be on the wii with the wiimote and all that but from its operation, I don't see it been any different from the other systems. Obviously the PS3 and 360 will look better and have the online aspect.
- gullibunni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Are they making a Wii-Tar? That'll be awesome!
- Metaridley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How much you wanna bet that the Wii version includes Nintendo-themed guitar riffs? Zelda, Mario, and the SSBM intro -- combined with Wii-guitar smashing functionality -- is going to make for one hellava game.
- celerityfm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I disagree, this is on the same news level as Katamari for the DS (canceled tho, WHY GOD WHY?!). If this keeps up, next thing you know you'll see Solid Snake making cameos in Wii games or something, now THAT would be news! ;)
Atleast we'll have Beautiful Katamari Wii tho. WHO'SE WITH ME?! - skipsandwichdx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You know those guitar controllers that are like, double guitar controllers, you know?
- RHEEK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1If they don't come out with some sort of guitar controller for the Wii I don't even wanna play it. The guitar is good, and I can't even imagine having to use the Wiimote and nunchuck as a guitar. No disrespect to the Wiimote, I just think that sticking with a guitar controller is a wiser move.
I'll pick this up for PS2 definitely, Wii maybe if there's some sort of controller. - xSEED, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1c'mon ea bring fight night to wii
- DorkmasterFlek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This is great news, but file this under the "well DUH" column. Fall 2007 would be in keeping with the yearly release schedule they've kept for the first two games so far, and they already confirmed that GH is coming to all major systems. I would certainly consider the Wii a major system, considering how many units they've moved, despite what some naysayers would believe.
- wafflez, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3wait, so is it coming to 360 or ps3 also?
- naonao, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1YES! I can't wait! Guitar Hero will be freaking amazing on the Wii.
- doshindude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1GHIII? are you serious? and is Wii getting it first before the 360???
That made my day. wow. -
