- 2Deluxe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+38Without fanboys there'd only be three or four new articles on Digg each day.
- oldtimegamer, on 10/12/2007, -5/+34I wouldnt worry to much. Im sure everything will be ironed out. If any game is worth it. Its GH2
- typobox43, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31Big money, big money, no whammies.... stop!
- EddieOK, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24they traded a functional whammy bar for a volume knob that goes up to 11.
- mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20@icednines
Are you the same guy that posted that on the comment section of the article, or are you just copying him? - icednines, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19My local Target would sell the game, but not any extra guitars as they were coming up "Recalled" in the system.
- johnnybluejeans, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Bought two copies this morning for me and my friend. Both of our whammy bars were toast within an hour.
- Tankslap, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15I went to a whammy bar once and I didn't see a single chick in the place. I would suggest non-whammy bars.
- slimthps, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16I bought it today. The whammy bar isn't as responsive than it is with my PS2, and doesn't work half the time.
- Seruphim, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16Why are fanboys allowed to post on anything ever?
- koozebane, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12I've been playing a real guitar all night, sugar *****.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10
The real questions is - if you really suck at the game, would you even know you have a defective unit? - koozebane, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Actually, knowing how to play for real is screwing with me.
My very first song was 96% with a five star performance, but the farther I go, the more knowing how to play the songs for real messes with me.
The game is my nephews'......so it's not that big of a deal. They wanted Uncle Kooze to try. - consonance, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10People play video games so they don't have to play real life. Plus, learning to play the guitar is not for everyone.
- kinseyincanada, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8no problem here, its by far the best game i have evvvvvver played me and my roomates are about 8 hours in. Guitar Hero and drinking go hand and hand!
- johnnybluejeans, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Both have the jack near the power cord. I have since exchanged my defective guitar -- new guitar is the same layout but I haven't had any problems yet.
My friend says if he pulls up on the black base of the whammy bar until it "kind of snaps into place" it fixes it (for a while at least). - carcass350, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7What does this have to do with Microsoft?
I think it is more of a problem with Red Octane. - Blandyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Spinal Tap rocks.
"Why make it go up to 11? Why not just make 10 louder?" - sholmes1019, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9No problems on mine so far. I have the supposedly "good" one.
- cderry, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11I blame that bastard Whammy from the game show "Press Your Luck".
- Jayeugene, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Confirmed here, i have the guitar with the data port near the usb cable and my whammy bar only work 1/3 of the time, i hope they replace all of the defective ones for free. Just so happens an hour after i find out my guitar sucks, my 360 red lights on me and needs to be sent back, what a ***** day.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I bought my guitar and game from Circuit City, and I see absolutely no problems with the whammy bar. However, there seems to be some minor issue with the motion sensors. With the PS2 guitar, if you yank the thing upwards, it activates Star Power *instantly*. With Xbox 360, it seems you have to point it up and then HOLD it in this position for 1 or 2 full seconds before Star Power activates.
Anyone else have this problem? - VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Jealous, eh?
- johnnybluejeans, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"Guitar Hero and drinking go hand and hand!"
Truer words were never spoken. - dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I picked it up yesterday and haven't had so much as a missed note (that wasn't my fault). The guitar feels just as responsive and tuned as it does with the ps2 versions.
I'm really not trying to brag or anything. I just want to make sure there's some counter to what seems to be an overwhelmingly negative response. I certainly hope the guitar isn't defective. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I'm waiting for Guitar Hero: AC/DC Discography Edition
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It came out in Aus today and I picked it up and being my first GH game I'm not too sure if mine has a problem but it -does- feel a bit unresponsive -- I really need to push it down quite well and I have the feeling it's not going as well as it should be. I've played it for 2-3 hours so far today.
Next day off work I'll take it back and get it swapped.
Anyway, it's bloody awesome, can't believe I've been missing out on GH so long. ;_; - dreadful, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I have the one with the jack on the bottom works great
- Whaines, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Don't worry Hipple, I understand the point you were trying to make.
- ninamyers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2RedOctane have officially responded to the whammy bar issue:
http://digg.com/gaming_news/RedOctane_Respond_To_Whammy_Bar_Issue
Suggests "fans try to replug in their guitars without holding down any buttons or the whammy bar" to resolve the issue. "In regards to the controller, we ’re currently in the process of having our internal QA and production teams look into this possible issue, and are working to quickly isolate this if there is one."
and more... - JeremyTTU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Did you follow what the XBOX 360 told you to do? Obivously, you are wrong in this situation.
It puts the disc into the HD-DVD drive... or it gets the "disc unreadable error" again... - MWeather, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not true. If it wouldn't work, then Harmonix is wasting millions developing "Rock Band". A few milliseconds of latency isn't going to bother anyone. It's a game, not a studio recording.
- sholmes1019, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Which guitars do you have? Is the pedal jack on the bottom near the strap hook or on the side near the power cord?
- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I had the exact opposite issue, ilyag. Maybe its my strap position (I like the guitar really low in relation to my height) and all it takes is a slight tilt and star power will turn on. No problems yet since it usually happens during a more hectic part of the song (where it might be more necessary) anyway.
- bwjacket, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6No problems here. Whammy Working Well.
- combustion8, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Working fine for me, just finished playing Them Bones... I rock.
- Wailord, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I played it at Best Buy and I had an absolutely terrible time Whammying. So...nobody cares.
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I thought mine was broken at first. Turns out it has a little inline release to keep you from yanking your Xbox off the shelf, and I didn't have mine plugged in tight enough.
- nipterink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2not to mention the fact that they already did online play for amplitude.
online play will come for guitar hero, just give it time. - Sp0rAdiC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Mine's been played on for a good 7 hours today, whammy bar is working fine. Let's hope it stays that way.
- nonpareil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmm, I wonder if the submitter of this article should've used some exclamation points and/or superlative language in the title so this thing gets more diggs (and RedOctane's bloody attention).
- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I find the range of motion is less on the 360. There seems to be a slot that the bar has to follow instead of the PS2 which I recall being able to be bent inward at any angle.
No issues with the bar yet after playing for a couple hours. - Hoffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My whammy bar works fine, but my game disc doesn't. I played the game for about 3 hours yesterday. Took a 2 hour break and then tried to play again. I keep getting a disc unreadable error. Actually, the error message says it's a HD-DVD disc and to put it in that drive. Obviously, the 360 is wrong.
I tried a couple other game discs and they work fine. - colemip, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Yea, I've spent copious amounts of time playing GH2 on the PS2 and there is noticeable lag w/ the 360 controller's whammy bar.... :( . It's nice that the 360 version is prettier and has new songs, but the whammy bar issue puts it at a significant disadvantage over the PS2 version.
- kiethworks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dont digg down jayeugene, it's a direct quote from spinal tap. I custom built an amp with a volume knob that went to 11, pretty sweet when somebody catches it.
- Phr3aker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i work at best buy and there is something wrong with the whammy bad
- rumblpak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'll confirm again. Mine works about a 1/3 of the time also. It sucks. I hope they fix it, its still playable but damn, its really annoying when trying to get star power.
- sinembarg0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It seems to me it's more of a software problem, that the dead zone is too large. To me, my whammy doesn't feel quite right, but I have the version that supposedly is fine. I plugged it into my computer and opened up the joystick control panel, and it appears to be just fine, I move the bar slightly and the axis shows movement. What I really hated about this guitar was how loud it was, but I took it apart and put some velcro inside to pad it, and it is much quieter, and it actually feels slightly better to play. I also hate the strap placement, but I can't easily fix that.
- terrenceisdaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1since i have to return mine because of this --- Does anyone know if there is a way to tell on the exterior packing which guitar is included?
