- Sphonix, on 10/12/2007, -7/+49Dude! What does mine say!?
- Crumbeast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8umm... you do realize the 360 version comes with the guitar too right, and has the same great gameplat, plus downloadable content?
- GopherChucks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Yeah, this might make me want to actually buy a 2nd copy of the game. Damn you, intelligent marketing and design.
- twtmc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6crap! now I need a 360!
- Willeth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5posted in wrong place, digg down :)
- Kev1000000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It doesnt really need to be in realtime. All you need to update is if the other person hit the note or not, his score, and star power and stuff. The already knows who's getting what notes, so it doesnt really have to have any lag at all for the parts that you play.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Well, the only reason why anyone play any game online. To show off their mad skills..
- aahpandasrun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5It looks like 360 is going to be the new top system, so you might have to buy one.
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5There was a time when I used to hate on people posting links to Destructoid, Joystiq, and Kotaku (of course there are more gaming blogs, but those three come to mind instantly), now I realize, I do not view every f'n video game page on every game ever, and neither do necessarily those three blogs, however, all the viewers of those sites do, and when you get a good 'tip' .. you send it to them, they will link to the source fine. Now im rambling, but either way, what it comes down to, is if you read it from Destructoid, submit your link as such. Destructoid isn't claiming its their exclusive, they linked to the source.
Also, if you didn't read it from Destructoid, you would miss out on their comment system which would help you further understand what the story was saying, such as this one relating to this story.. "I'd love that so much I'd have sex with it." - Rezbit - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"I'll probably still get it at some point due to the option of downloadable content, but that's not exactly worth £10 extra on its own."
You're right. It's not worth £10 extra, for the simple fact that it's worth more. You pay the £10 extra for the retail copy of the game. Then, you pay extra on TOP of that for each and every downloadable item the developers offer. Seeing as how you apparently didn't realize that, you must never have used Xbox Live.
Downloadable content = pay real-world money to download each little addition. - PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Co-op achievement points?
- GopherChucks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, there's way arounds it.
- aahpandasrun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Amplitude worked pretty well online. I'm surprised they haven't done the same thing with Guitar Hero until now.
- Bara, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You should be shot for using the term "Xbots"
MGM out - somunny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This is what's called keeping the consumer on the hook.
- placebofx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wonder if you will see a bunch of people trading in ps2 guitar hero for credit toward the 360?
- dygel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sounds like a groovy concept, but it seems like any amount of network latency AT ALL and the player experience would be effectively ruined. We're talking about an application that needs to be experienced with real-time speed.
- Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1too many exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- obeseotron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And you would put the downloaded content where exactly on a PS2? The overwhelming majority of Fat PS2's don't have a network adapter or a hard drive, and the Slim PS2 doesn't have space for the hard drive as far as I know. On top of this they would have to do their own hosting, billing and download interface to reach a very, very limited number of people. Or would you do it through Xbox Live where you basically hand MS the content (and cut them in on your sales) and everything else is handled for you.
- mgsdeadcell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1TECHBUZZARD forgot to take his medicine.
- Cooldude3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Um, that sounds pretty cool. Still disappointed that the controller will be wired though. (Keep fingers crossed- hope prevails) No guitar flailing, spinning in crazy circles, or throwing of the guitar.... :(
- TiMMY8765, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3but... why? why would you want online play in such a game. It would be just like playing single player, you would be there playing the guitar part and the bass part would just come out of the speakers. Multiplayer guitar hero is only fun in person
- FrankHowley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh, I thought it was already going to have online play.
D: - slickrick2k1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1amplitude did NOT work well online. nerds would just plug in their usb keyboards and play the notes like a piano. sucked.
- thisisbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You didn't actually you said just shoot me which made me happy
- slackerbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This could be cool if they add support for the Vision Camera...
- thisisbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Trash talk!! i know it is co-op trash talk team mates!
- FrankieB078, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yet another reason I'll be buying a 360 once my taxes roll in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- obeseotron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The real problem with this is latency, and I can't see any way they are going to solve it. Even if you had a great ping, say 30 ms, which works great for a game where the primary feedback is visual because you can get new information (ex player movement and shooting in an fps) over 30 times a second, it would be totally unacceptable for auditory feedback. Notes would start to play and then cut out or come in late all the time even with great pings, and forget about anything in the 100ms range. Guitar Hero already has small issues with this due to the built in tolerance for hitting a note slightly early or late, but it would just destroy the game under realistic conditions on Xbox Live.
- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did you just say, "Boogie Down?" Har Har Har
- playedalive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1All good, as long as there is the abaility to mute the other guy "trying" to "sing" with the song.
- Cooldude3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, if they do the whole online thing, if they don't show the other person hitting the notes, it would be AWESOME, if you could at least plug the camera in and be able to watch them via PIP. Bc, I have a ton of friends that have moved away, and when everyone else gets together at my house to boogie down, it would be nice to be able to include them, even if it isn't an optimum alternative.
- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Forget that, how about trading in their PS3 for 360 credit.
- crossers, on 07/18/2008, -0/+0I don't like Guitar Hero at all! why you like it?

- Willeth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I did say it's not worth £10 for the OPTION. That and the zomg next gen! tax.
- TonyCubed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Setup a band? :P
- GopherChucks, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Agreed.
Plus, why is everyone being dugg down for saying, "Sweet!"
That's what this story is.... ***** *sweet*. Now move along. - Willeth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0If the multiplayer is added later on, that doesn't exactly make me want to get it at launch - I'll get it when the multiplayer is available. Advertising something as the product I might want some time in the future does in no way make it the product I need NOW. At most, what this does is prevent me from splurging on the PS2 version. I'll probably still get it at some point due to the option of downloadable content, but that's not exactly worth £10 extra on its own.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The damn thing costs $10 more than the PS2 version. It's $90. You'd be pretty stupid to buy another copy just for online multiplayer (and 10 extra songs) if you already have the PS2 version.
I don't have a PS2, so that's the only reason I can find to justify purchasing a $90 game. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1what the PS2 version needs is the ability to add or download songs. I will never buy a 360, but I would keep buying add-on content for GH2 if they would provide it.
- Cloudzi, on 10/12/2007, -16/+12Sweet!
- Sabin, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Considering that even a 50ms ping would ruin a game of guitar hero i find this to be unlikely and probably impossible. Music games require timing that makes even twitch fighting games seem like they are running in slow motion. Sure they could implement it but it really wouldn't work outside of a lan environment.
- kirk06, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Because saying "sweet" to something like online play is apparently not near as "cool" as just quoting a random movie or pop-culture icon...which is sure to get you instantly dugg up.
