- jager719, on 10/12/2007, -0/+33shame they didnt make the controller wireless...
- Zipp425, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28Seriously someone needs to ban this guys IP.
This is the 10th story I've seen with his lame link to myspace page about 9/11 conspiracy. - elShaggy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21have you played it?
- r00ts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13"please read the definition of irony."
Caboose: "I think it would be ironic if we were all made of iron" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8meh......nothing will ever beat the lineup of Guitar Hero 1.
And after what RedOctane did to misirlou in GH2 (a.k.a. stabbing it, shredding it, wrapping it in tin foil and dipped it in acid inside a microwave) I could never forgive them, no matter how awesome of a job they used to be doing. If you can't get a trumpeter for misirlou, then you should've misirleft-it-alone - SanFran216, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8sounds like someone doesn't like rythm games.
Though I've always thought that to play any musical instrument to the tune of music, it was about pressing the right buttons, frets, and strings at the right time anyway. - negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12@darkcyde...pretty sure we're talking about x360 and not ps2 here...
@dj: please read the definition of irony. - Sababaaa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Which is why it's such a shame. Microsoft could have easily licensed the guitar, giving this version just one more perk over the PS2 version; an incentive that could definitely get fans of the series to make the switch to next-gen Guitar madness.
Edit:
Darkcyde- npsken was referring to third party wireless 360 gamepads/accesories.. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7hopefully it has some new songs, some that don't suck
- Dkittels, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6A Hero of Guitars. Duh.
I mean it's like a Jukebox Hero. Except with a guitar. - shlemielo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6from the blog comments --
"There's reports coming in from CES about the 360 demo of Guitar Hero 2. A few new tracks:
"Life Wasted' - Pearl Jam
"Possum Kingdom" - The Toadies
"Hush" - Deep Purple
"Dead!" - My Chemical Romance
"Billion Dollar Babies" - Alice Cooper
"Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo" - Rick Derringer
"Salvation" - Rancid " - elShaggy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7No wireless for 360 because Microsoft is controlling all wireless perhipherals, so you won't see a wireless guitar unless M$ is branded on it and they are making money from the sales.
And Wii guitar hero would be lame with out the guitar, first commenter on the link "doesn't want a lame plastic guitar...." How do you play a guitar with a controller with two buttons? - djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@negativefx:
Sure thing, I love wasting my time with self-righteous tools like you. From dictionary.com:
"5. an outcome of events contrary to what was, or might have been, expected"
Everyone expected the 360 GH controller to be wireless, and no-one expected RO to release a wireless PS2 first party one (the announcement was a surprise). That's the irony. - RealityCheque, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Co-Op over live?
- blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You need to play it... There are demos practically everywhere, so there isn't really a good excuse to not give it a try. If you have enough rhythm to make it through any of the songs (which anyone should) you'll most likely be pleasantly surprised.
- cheez, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9"gamespot will be taking orders"
uhhh, i think you mean gamestop - septicmadman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Hammer-ons were messed up in GH compared to GH2
- silouette747, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Best news I've heard in awhile. I'm gonna rock out with my ***** out.
- bmwboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3*Waits for Guitar Hero III for Wii
- stubadub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why would this game be any more difficult to pull off on live than Dance Dance Revolution? There were no problems playing that online.
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3TeamXbox says that it's going to have The Trooper by Iron Maiden. :o
http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/12533/Guitar-Hero-II-RedOctane-to-Announce-Xbox-360-Specifics/ - MouseCircus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@ilyag
I think the box states that it comes with new songs right out of the box. It's rumored that the extra songs are probably songs from the original Guitar Hero, but yes, it does come with extra songs other than the downloadable content. - eklass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i feel the same way about a wireless guitar, but i can also see them releasing a wireless version in the future (if microsoft allows). plus, it would give them a nice up-sell before GH3
- therodersabides, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The Toadies would be fantastic on Guitar Hero!
- MilesLombardi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They got Dead!? Holy crap! That song has a kicking intro, and a brilliant song :).
I didn't need another reason to buy this game but I got it. - totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4wireless controllers would be awesome.
- blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think I remember hearing that Possum Kingdom was almost in the first GH..or the second. I dunna, I was just disappointed that it didn't make it, but I'll be thrilled if it's in the 360 version (i dont have a ps2 anyway). That plus Dead! has some pretty GH friendly riffs and is a fairly fun song, despite my general dislike of MCR..
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Okay I just re-read this comment and I'm very surprised that they didn't make it wireless. Everyone thought it was going to be after seeing it in their commercial. they announced that it was going to be a White Gibson Explorer, and there was a wireless white Gibson Explorer in the commercial. Ya bastads.
- jhnshft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't wait to rock out with my buddies over Live on this (that had better be a feature on this game). A little dual lead "freebird" anyone. Man, it'll be awesome.
- ZomgWarlocks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Except Co-op mode making it hard to pick which one I want to play ... damn :(
- merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The term "Guitar Hero" predates the game by decades. It denotes excessively technically difficult guitar work.
- edgecurve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I thought the same thing until I played it. I'll never be a rock star with my horrible guitar skills but I can do this...and I love it.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So... to recap. PS2 version of GH2 not playable on PS3 (due to USB adaptors for PS2 controllers not working with GH guitars), but the 360 has its own version.
Someone should do something to rectify this for PS3 owners before the 360 version comes out. - asurroca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice, this gives me a few months to recoup from all the Wii and Xbox 360 stuff that came out this holiday season!
- Colbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Goodbye Frets on Fire...
you are about to be replaced.
Goodbye Keyboard...HELLO GUITAR!!!! - Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"No, I have not played it or seen it being played besides what is shown on television."
Then why are you in here yapping about how good or bad it is? - computerdude33, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Such deep questions are better left to those of us with supernatural abilities, i.e. "rock gods"
- Cytranic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1At least you get the joke now NegitiveFX
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pandora was ugly in GH, she's the 2nd best charachter in GH2
- edgecurve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Life Wasted" by Pearl Jam. Too good to be true...wonder where this person heard that. That would so rock!
- mgsdeadcell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1theres no Maiden in Guitar Hero 2...
- Pentagonian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1damnit where the hell is my 4x digg button
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2needs more cowbell imo
- Spaceboy492, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ask Konami.
Beatmania, Guitar Freaks, Drummania, Pop'n Music, Dance Dance Revolution... great games, but the names lack punch. - Ironman11, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8Come on Activision, bring out the Wii version!
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dammit, now I have a reason to buy an XBox360. Any tips for buying one? How can I know if I'm buying a unit on which I can update the drive's firmware?
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The first party wireless controller by Red Octane was released just before Christmas. I got it for $39 at Target, but it retails for $49. Someone at Target entered it wrong. It's a white Gibson Explorer with a Black pickguard. Comes with free AAA batteries.
What's cool about it is that they pre-applied a couple of fixes that people were talking about on the forum which includes lowering the action on the buttons and adding lithium grease to make them easier to push down. - itsamix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I know how you feel. It does seem like a waste a time but when you have a couple of buddies over maybe a couple drinks as well and you feel yourself hitting those notes on a somewhat of a guitar of a song you enjoyed listening to for a long time. Theres almost nothing like it. Thats why there digging you down because you truly have to try it. I hate DDR to just personaly i see why it could be really enjoyable!
- merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hammer ons, co-op, the ability to choose different difficulties in head-to-head, practice mode, encores...
GH2 had tons of great improvements over GH1. The only place where it loses points is the song line up. - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It was never a PS2 exclusive. Red Octane was asked many times and answered that it was not.
It was only on PS2 because they didn't feel a need to do it on other platforms. And given the market saturation of PS2, they were probably right for that generation of console.
The possibility of selling downloadable content makes a 360 version potentially quite lucrative, and will supplement their income quite well. -
