- Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -8/+24I will wholeheartedly back up that statement. The PSP has clearly headed down a road of failure.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16From a non-biased user that owns both an NDS and a PSP:
The Nintendo DS is clearly the best console out of the two.
PSP sucks ass... its just soooo damn unplayable (e.g. controls).
Sony can shove their "media player" ***** where the sun don't shine - buy an iPod.
Have yet to try the software... mainly because I find that stuff running on the .net framework are usually bloaters :-D - slackerbox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16It's not made by Nintendo. Durr
- RobertFC, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13I digg this as well! I might be biased however, being the one who made it, lol.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12I'm a PSP owner, and I completely agree. As soon as the DS Lite comes to America, I'm dumping the piece of ***** on a hapless gaming store. Hopefully Sony doesn't release an updated PSP before then so I can get a good trade price on it.
- tapo, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16Microsoft .NET Framework?
Windows only?
Eych. Why not develop in something more cross-platform friendly, like Java? Or keep the whole thing on the website and do it in flash? Hell, if they were gonna make it Windows only, why not just do the damn thing in Visual Basic already?
Goddamn, I hate .NET.
(Sorry for the rant from a pissed off Mac, Ubuntu, and Nintendo DS user) - MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11PSP owners don't suck, they were just shafted by the game companies for not making enough quality games.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7good luck, as long as psp price keeps dropping OUR chances of getting a good return on our ill-fated purchase are dim
- RobertFC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4And just so you guys are aware, I'm also a Linux user... so I can relate to how you guys feel.
Any linux developers in the room and want to give Mono a shot, email me at rbtaylor@kingston.net
Help make FWC cross-platform! - rekka, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I'd like to take this moment to say, "I'm dead". Thanks, you insensitive clod.
- RobertFC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm sorry guys that this is in Windows.. I hadn't expected this to become so popular. And it was originally made for members of friendcodes.com (of whom, 98 percent are windows users).
You can run FWC on Mac with bootcamp, and we'll soon be porting it to Mono (which is cross-platform)
And please excuse all the problems we're having... we have never had so much traffic (1000+ members), and it's crashing the program! - lego, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Maybe the author will make it work in Mono.
- nonokiaboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Thanks to you -- NDS wins again :)
But seriously, thanks for making an app. Love the love the DS gets. - elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page
Not sure how well mono works yet, but supposedly it fixes your problem.
I don't know why Microsoft refuses to make .NET cross platform. It's perfectly feasible.. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3esentially this program just lets you talk to less-anonymous people when on WFC, you still have no idea who they are, but the communication is a nice thing to have (i wish nintendo games would actually allow chat like twisted metal psp does, but wishing only gets us so far, the community does the rest)
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This really is a service Nintendo should be providing. I know they want to make it easy for everyone but they should also have advanced options for those of us who have been playing multiplayer games since before the internet even.
- Raian, on 10/12/2007, -8/+11I will wait until they add child-finding capabilities, and the DS matches my nondescript white van full of candy...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Yeah, I think I will get a lite when they hit the states...
Mirror because site is slow:
http://www.friendcodes.com.nyud.net:8080/nintendo_ds/friend_codes_wifi_central.php - pseudo.hero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3tis a sad day for me, for I own a mac. Oh well, if anyone plays metroid messsage me and I'll give you my friend code
- cletus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5+digg, but -.5 for no macintosh support.... silly dot net... well thats always the case tho isnt it?
+1000 for the DS tho - anarchy99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i have a mac but my satelitedish/dvr is a win/lin box i can run it on there and use RDC so i dont have to leave my comp
no biggy looks like a decent piece of software - Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is a PC program only. The installed userbase of the site was not very small so it wasn't written for a wide audience.
- RobertFC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3lol.. you want to make it?
- Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Dang, looks like we killed the server.
- Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is like DSMeet but the way it's set up it's less like phone tag and more like a server lobby.
- RobertFC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Seeing as you just signed up today, I'm betting you're a mod on dsmeet trying to piss me off.
Man, are you just sitting at your computer all day watching this digg article???
17 hours ago.. 8 hours ago.. 4 minutes ago...
You're sure making a point! - Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can look at that on nintendowifi.com
- echelon0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Robert, please be civil. This story is as much a plug for your site just as AtomicToast's post is one for his. Also, please don't lie so blatantly: Your website does not do everything that http://dsarena.com does. Both websites have different features, so please respect that.
You're not the only one who deserves publicity. - Alehandro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Ugh... looks like a piece of Visual Basic crap. .NET?! My God, tat sucks. What are you, 12 years old? Surely you could have programmed better... But then again, judging by your site, it's all vB, you didnt code anything. At least the other sites try (DSmeet, DS-Play, NintendoFriends, et.c.) Pfftt... I could code better when I was 8. Good job failing.
- kydd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3server is going slow as hell it must be getting smashed.
- Zero456, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2'Tis the power of digg. Nice find man, can't wait to give it a try!
- albel65, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Another one succumbs to the powah of digg
- hasbeenhere, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2its a great program
- Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It seems that the buzz from digg has worn out for a while.
- takeda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2elnerdo: I think it's the same reason why their protocols and file formats are closed.
They simply don't want people switching away from windows... - rootnik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll introduce myself as Corey, the founder of friendcodes.com.
Lets do digg.com a favor and end the pissing contest right now. This is not the time or place for this. I am kindly asking any current member of friendcodes.com not to reply to this anymore at all.
Cyborg is one of our thousands of members who diggs this app enough to post it here. None of us were aware of it, otherwise we would have ordered a server upgrade ahead of time to avoid the troubles we had last night when the website got hammered with traffic.
echelon only came here to stir things up, and it looked like he succeeded. What a way to unite the gaming community. Congrats to you.
Alehandro, I am not sure what your agenda is here. You have voiced your opinion multiple times. Please, let some of these visitors make their own opinion. - Carlb007, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2alehandro your a prat!
I think you should grow up right now, before handing your views to robert who is clearly very talented. The app does exactly what its meant to do, so crawl away and die please. ta. - RobertFC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Close. I'm 15. But thanks, I was writing network protocols when I was 12 years old, so being called 12 years old isn't too bad for me. (Won quite a few provincial and nation-wide computer engineering contests with those apps). I also know C#, Visual C++, Perl, Python, Java, and of course PHP and ASP. I decided to use VB.NET because it's the language that's easiest to get projects going on (especially when working solo). I would have used C++, but I had no idea this program would become so popular.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2SQUALL MY MAN!!! W'sup lol nice work getting your ***** onto digg fp, add me to your friends list.
http://www.digg.com/addfriend/Agret - Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I know that everyone just wants to end this but I have been hurt by some of the comments made here. I am a member of Friendcodes.com and have been for quite some time. I am not a very active member by all accounts but I visit when I want to play online. I was not asked to post this story, no one pressured me, I posted it because I had only just tried the application and found it a great tool for people who want to play the DS online. Now I will say this once and only once. I am not any of the founding members of FC. I am not someone trying to fool you. I am my own person with my own life and telling me that I am someone else posting under false pretences is just insulting. If you don't believe me than look it up. I have accounts on countless websites using the name Cyborg771. I have a history on the internet including being a co-host of one of iTunes top 100 podcasts. If I ever see you, Alehandro, on digg again, questioning someone's credibility with no reason to back you I will report you. That is not an empty threat and don't take it as one.
- Gregorio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ok lets set things straight. Cyborg is not a staff member at friendcodes.com, Robert created the program, Alehandro is a moderator at dsmeet (echelon comment- come on, obvious) and yes, I just created this account five minutes ago to end this.
We're done. - Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No more shameless plugs. That's not what digg is for.
- RobertFC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lets see.. maybe I'm posting here because it involves me? What are you doing? You're just some lonely soul who has nothing better to do but to nay-say what others do. Goto www.friendcodes.com not one post except te one Cyborg made (who is neither myself or staff). And Carl is not a member of my site either. He's the owner of another website that will be able to use FWC.
Please spend your time getting a life instead of wasting your time posting arbitrary comments on something you've never used. - RobertFC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It Is.. we've gotten so much traffic from this!
- Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So true mikegifford
- takeda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I have a DS, how can I set up to connect to my WiFi access point?
- RobertFC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Alright, then I have a better job for you:
Get a Life. - RobertFC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://www.friendcodes.com/forums/t6103-urgent-what-is-friendcodes-wifi-central-urgent.html
Those show alot of screenshots of how FWC works. Hopefully it'll remove this misconception that it's like a friendcodes sharing site (which we also have at www.friendcodes.com) - Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1We have had a bunch of new people on.
- RobertFC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow! Another person with a head on his shoulders!
It's been quite an oddity in the past oh, I dunno.. 12 minutes? -
