I want your life. - 01001001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23If everything goes to plan, hopefully we'll get extra close zoom shots of Leroy hittin teh punnany
- geoffp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Nice -- the wooden facial expressions are really my only beef with the artistry of San Andreas.
- d3m3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22In other words, prettier hookers and probably a sweet ping-pong mini game.
The one thing that I could see them improving upon is having to load to walk in a building. Theres more memory now, just load it in the background and let us see the door open and the character walk in. Also make the police wait outside and shoot in mabye. Just make it like real life, give me a minigun, a flamethrower, and some body armor and i'll be happy. - TheSquid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23"RAGE could mean we'll see a greater emphasis on physics and character expressions in GTA IV "
That's cool. - Borbus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20That was apparently part of the GTA3 series, if that makes sense, same with San Andreas. GTA 4 is the next major installment since GTA 3.
- xNaquada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Great, now there will be an improved hot-coffee...
Cafe Mocha anyone??? - iluvatar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20what are they talking about? San Andreas already had "Killing in the Name"
- lambda, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Extra extra! A game to be built on a game engine! :-)

GTA 4 (2007) - iamhumble, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Screw the coffee. I can't wait to kill the cops and beat-up the hookers.
- superal1394, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Wrong, that was Rockstar Presents: Table Tennis. This is probably what the engine was developed for.
- jinexile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Its for the same reasons they didn't call Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 3.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13About time that "Emotion Engine" actually got used for once.
- QueyJoh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9@rasterbator: GTA4 is slated for release in September '07. What on Earth made you think it would _ever_ be released on anything but next-gen consoles and PCs we haven't heard of yet?
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Hopefully they'll come out with a version for the Wii also. It would give a whole new dimension to beating up hookers with a baseball bat. ;-)
- 6pintsofbitter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10mmmmm Battered Prostitutes
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Physics and character expressions just aren't enough. I love GTA and all but after 3 mostly identical games, new missions and better graphics aren't enough for me. Please, please, PLEASE put multiplayer from GTA1/2 back in.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Wow, you make Computer Games sound like such an intellectual, creative and mind expanding art.
- noodhoog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6How about some decent car damage?
The cars in GTA are basically just solid boxes, with a few cosmetic bits that fall off and textures that change.
Viper Racing and Carmageddon 1 had great car deformation and they're both ancient. Rockstar should be able to manage something a little better than what GTA currently has, at least... Imagine Burnout style wrecks in GTA!
At the very least, give us ragdoll physics for the peds. Sure, Jack Thompson would have a fit, but we all know he's going to anyways, and it's not like it hasn't been done before (Carmageddon 2 had ragdoll peds who you could dismember limb by limb - and you got style bonuses for it!) - webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I reckon the next one will be based in London, and be released in time for summer. It will feature Wimbledon; we get to play tennis and rig the matches... finally, Henman could win!
- synchestric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I hope they come out with a decent interface for in-game menus in the PC version this time around.
Buying clothes was a pain: "Hit 'fire' to go up, 'run' to go down"; try out the piece; wait; go back in the menus to select other thing. They must have not seen how they do it in RPGs. Still, regarding that, SA was a great improvement over 3 and VC.
Anyway, maybe now the PC version will get a version that makes it justice graphics-wise, now that it's going to be out on consoles that have actually impressive hardware. - UNL1M1T3D, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I don't remember seeing any infants in any of the other GTA games, but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough.
- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4One thing to watch out for that is that static faces are better then really poorly animated ones. At least with static faces you focus on the voice acting and body language, which in GTA is quite good.
The faces in Table Tennis are good, but they never really talk or respond to anything outside of .. table tennis.. So it's going to take a lot more work then just having some new engine to not actually make things worse with extra detail.
I'd also be worried about making things too realistic. The caricature nature of GTA is one of the reasons why I think it can have mass appeal while being so violent. It's really more like watching a cartoon then it is like watching a gory movie. - Kazaki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3As long as GTA keeps their lively, expressive city and stays away from the many-boxes-with-brick textures that have an empty space inbetween for cars their clones like to use, I'll remain happy.
- kirk06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No. It's '07. That's been known for awhile now. E3, anyone?
- shit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3What, do they have nipples on their ass?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I hope the game in action looks better than the screen shots for the tennis game... The screenshots look like someone attacked their skin with aerator spikes. I guess its supposed to be sweat, and in animation I hope it looks a lot better than it does still.
- Offill, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Mr. "I am Humble" would like to batter prostitutes!
Good Idea - supersteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2they really need to change something in the series. it is starting to get old. GTA:SA was good but it's the same freaking *****, just a new title. I love GTA but it needs more to it.
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What I think would be great is two versions... the M for stores, and the unrated bought online. I want them to put as much horrible stuff into it as possible with a decent sized waning on the cover (a glorified one), and then when people yell about it, they can say "well, was it bought in a store? no, it wasn't."
- bar10dr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It should come out to PC quickly after release, the port from the 360 should be easy peasy.
They might have done a deal with the console owners tho, only time will tell. - godmode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ping pong physics indeed, but they will be from the nether regions of some hooker no doubt.
- redneckblues, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yep. A Jack Thompson "interrogation" minigame.
- GT35R, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well first of all, this is one game. We dont even know the extent of this games graphics at this point. Many games come out on multiple platforms and look about the same but that doesnt suggest that all of those consoles have the same abilities.
- nox4444, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The new graphics engine seems promising because better graphics could be a big improvement. I can only IMAGINE what the new installment will hold...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes but this time, it'll look a lot more like real life. YES. Finally, I'll be like James Bond... without a cause, and a hell lot of weapons..
- vatchea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1vice city stories is comin on psp, maybe he was referring to that.
- UNL1M1T3D, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would love to see GTA for the Wii, but probably not going to happen. Rockstar doesn't really have to great a track record with releasing games on Nintendo consoles. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Monster Truck Madness for the N64 and Smugglers Run for the GameCube. I am sure their are a few more, but I am to lazy to go look them up.
- supersteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they need to add more not less dude. the series is getting old. some ***** different game.
- d3m3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It'll make it a better game, you always see games getting better the further you go in a consoles lifespan. I can wait, just maybe they should release a PC demo.
- redneckblues, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Battered as in beaten or covered with flour and eggs?
- Smoktiludy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sounds great. The physics in Table Tennis are seriously good. I love that game.
Also, I'm sure a port to PC wouldn't take long at all. With the whole Live Anywhere thing I don't see why they wouldn't want to get on PC as well. - terrya64, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I did not care for San Andreas, the exercising and having to eat ruined the flow of the game for me. I hope they return to the basics.
- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's disturbing to think what video games will be like just 5 years from now.. then 10.. then 20.. then 100. It's completely unfathomable.
- d3m3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I'd also be worried about making things too realistic. The caricature nature of GTA is one of the reasons why I think it can have mass appeal while being so violent. It's really more like watching a cartoon then it is like watching a gory movie."
Then maybe they'll think twice before opening up that uzi on a poor fat bum. - supersteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they should combine the level destruction of Red Faction, the openness of GTA, the living and building part from The Sims, the guts and blood from Solider of Fortune a great story and the graphics from GT4 or something
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been playing it since the day it come out on the PC and PSX. It is possible to play a game and not like it you know?
- EricAnderton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Imagine Burnout style wrecks in GTA!"
Heck, knowing Rockstar's tendency to completely co-opt the best parts of other games for missions in GTA, I'd say it's more than likely to happen. - redneckblues, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I don't remember seeing any infants in any of the other GTA games"
Strange, I seem to recall seeing Jack Thompson at least once. -
