- bail0ut, on 04/07/2009, -0/+62first try releasing it on 1
- Gibletoid, on 04/07/2009, -3/+30I bought a PSP 4 years ago, with the promise of Gran Turismo 4 comin out "soon".
Two years after I bought it, I got sick of waiting and sold it. Played PC games for a while to bridge the gap and the bought an Xbox360 because it has good racing games, my favorite genre.
That is the story how Sony's platform won me over, but their title support steered me to the competition.
Gran Turismo PSP, as far as I know, has not come out yet. - psloup, on 04/07/2009, -5/+28if gran turismo comes out on PC i would have no reason to buy consoles anymore
- Gravey9, on 04/07/2009, -0/+19Oh you're missin out, GT2 was one of the best!
- anexanhume, on 04/07/2009, -7/+25In other words:
"We have no plans of finishing it in time to release on the PS3. How about the PS4? Did we mention the PS3 is the best value for the money? We even dropped the PS2 price for you!" - slayerhk47, on 04/07/2009, -3/+17It says "as many platforms as possible".
That can still mean it could be on the PS3, PS2, and/or PSP. You need to remember those are all different platforms. - MEGACAMZ, on 04/07/2009, -2/+15As if sony will release it for the 360 or PC, they probably mean ps2, psp and ps3 and Ps4.
FUD. - jtt123, on 04/07/2009, -1/+13its ok, i love gran turismo, ever since ps2
- defenswens26, on 04/07/2009, -1/+13You do realize Sony owns Polyphony Digital. Right?
- mendeznoel20, on 04/07/2009, -5/+16Still waiting on GT5..the final version, not the stupid prologue version. Also, what the hell happened to the PSP version???
- stefano2000, on 04/07/2009, -2/+13Polyphony Digital, the studio that makes Gran Turismo, is owned by Sony. GT is a first party series, so unless Polyphony Digital is sold to someone else, GT5 will be only on Playstation consoles.
- KrustyTClown, on 04/07/2009, -11/+20Tell that to Killzone 2, no install required. I think it could also come in handy for sand box games. Imagine a grand theft auto America. Where you can travel from city to city. Yeah it might get boring, but still made possible through blu-ray.
- Gravey9, on 04/07/2009, -0/+7I've been anticipating this game for so long, it hurts.
- jacksons98, on 04/07/2009, -2/+9The best racing series ever
- AZRoboto, on 04/07/2009, -0/+7I just can't wait for Halo to be released on the PS3!!!
/sarcasm - Gibletoid, on 04/07/2009, -1/+7Well yeah, but 4+ years is pushing the boundaries of being realistic.
I knew it wasn't going to be immediate, but "soon" was my wording.
Sony said "April, 2005".
That's more like a rip off then a delay. - MrFisty, on 04/07/2009, -1/+7PS9 will be out by they time they get around to releasing GT5. Come on already!
- KrustyTClown, on 04/08/2009, -1/+7What would make it "off the hook on Live tho!"?
The only thing PSN is lacking is Cross game voice chat. Would I still able to talk to people while playing Gran Turismo on PSN, yes I would. The problem with racing games online is that people quit when they are losing. - KAMiKAZOW, on 04/07/2009, -1/+7Did you even read the article? It says that Sony may release GT5 in China for PC where the PS3 is officially not available. Sony makes PCs to, you know?
BTW: Sony released a few PS1 games (wipEout, Demolition Derby, etc.) also for PC and Sega Saturn. - KrustyTClown, on 04/08/2009, -2/+8You have built quite a reputation on Digg. You said nothing wrong, but still got dugg down to oblivion.
- KrustyTClown, on 04/08/2009, -1/+7I'm not sure but I heard somewhere that they had trouble fitting it all on a 50gb disk. The videos, music, graphics. Compression will also reduce quality. Have you ever compessed a DVD video? It's watchable but not as good as the original disk.
- erix84, on 04/07/2009, -3/+8I don't want Gran Turismo... the AI in the series has been totally horrible.
There's more than graphics to racing games, and GT lacks in everything but graphics and car selection.
In GT3, park sideways across the track, see if the AI will even go around you or plow right through you. Do the same thing in Forza 2... they slam on the brakes and go around.
I didn't play prologue, would rather play Forza / GRiD / Burnout (yes I know 2 of those are cross platform). GT4 has to fix their AI to even be in contention IMO. - KrustyTClown, on 04/08/2009, -2/+7Did you notice Kingoonie disappeared? Could it be cause the Wii has now games? He can't really bash the PS3 anymore I guess.
- Boofster, on 04/07/2009, -0/+5GT4 was actually going to be released on the PC and it was so much better that sony killed it because it would have conflicted with their console.
FAIL! - 0olong, on 04/07/2009, -3/+8MGS4 would have taken 5+ DVDs on a non-Blu-Ray system...
- Bilbobaggins, on 04/07/2009, -4/+9Gran Turwiismo.
- KrustyTClown, on 04/08/2009, -2/+7I agree, just thought I would point it out. Same goes for Puft, I think even the xbox fans digg them down.
- Mipit, on 04/07/2009, -3/+8This game looks beautiful. I wish other racing games had as much dedication as this one.
But my dream might come true if he goes through with this. - MasterGrief, on 04/08/2009, -0/+5Now was that really necessary?
- abrasion, on 04/08/2009, -0/+4DISCLAIMER:
I'm a PS3 lover.
but I'm not a fanboy idiot.
I've played Forza 1 and 2, as far as I'm concerned I know the superior game to GT.
The handling physics, controller rumble physics, the tyre squeel - all of it is amazing on Forza, it's the best controller experience (no wheel experience to comment, sorry)
The music and chilled, relaxing menus in GT4 rock but overall I prefer Forza.
It'd be nice if they could damn well release GT5 ONE day, how long has Forza 1, 2 been out and how long has GT4 been out?
Cmon.
Worst thing of all is when Shane Bettenhausen was on a podcast with 1up and said how in an interview the GT5 guys were so cocky, they 'haven't even looked at Forza' in their mind it's not even competition of any kind.
There's a lot they can learn from it.
We'll see if GT5 is good but if Prologue is any indication,....... it looks like a high def GT4 to me, especially the damn noises in the menus, in the car and so on. - krueger038, on 04/07/2009, -1/+5I still remember when they were first showing off the PSP with the mockup Gran Turismo game, I was so excited to get one as soon as GT came out. Then I got tired of waiting, and when the black DS lite came out I just said ***** it and got that instead.
Now I'm just gonna wait for the PSP2, and it wouldn't surprise me if they still haven't released the damn game by then. - Dylson, on 04/07/2009, -1/+5I hope it has damage..
- b3njio, on 04/08/2009, -2/+6I believe the installations on MGS4 was to eliminate loading time throughout the game. Yes it'll fit on 5 or so discs but you'll probably have to install it anyway otherwise you'll have the loading time between every scene. IMHO i'd rather wait 7 minutes than have interrupted game play otherwise yep the only benefit is having it on one instead of 5ish. But yes please do tell that to killzone ^_~
- dheaddy, on 04/07/2009, -1/+5You mean I can't play it on my Wii with my parents after all? Dammit, and we had the plastic wheel from Mario Kart ready to roll!
- bdawg123, on 04/08/2009, -3/+6Oh, are we supposed to actually read what Collapse posts? I just see his name and it's an automatic bury. Pretty sure I'm not missing anything worthwhile.
- Macintoshreader, on 04/07/2009, -3/+6Sorry to burst all your bubbles, but this IS NOT coming to PC, Xbox or any other platform that's not PlayStation. When he said "as many platforms as possible," he meant that on the PS2/PS3 and PSP. How do I know? Because Sony Computer Entertainment America is the publisher of the game, and Polyphony Digital—the developers—are 1st party—in other words, they're both Sony developers and publishers. It would make no sense at all for them to give away one of their most successful game series.
- dogstylee, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3Gran Turismo has been in development for PSP for 24 years, and for PS3 for 9 years.
For ***** sake Sony, just ***** release it. On anything. We don't give a ***** any more how shiny it is.
p.s. GT5:Prologue was ***** boring. How the hell did you manage to suck all the fun out of one of the best racing franchises? Driving a Ferrari at 200mph felt like dawdling along in a peddalo at 3mph. - KrustyTClown, on 04/08/2009, -1/+4True for PC, not for 360
- staticneuron, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3The second one? You mean the one released for the PS1? Your a funny guy.
- c010rb1indusa, on 04/07/2009, -3/+6GT2 was bloated. The best game is the series is no doubt GT3!. It's the most organized and the most satisfying. Going from Begginer to Amateur to Pro to Endurance, with some rally racing thrown in is amazing
The game came out in 2001 and it still looks great. - AmazingSteve, on 04/07/2009, -2/+5"Sorry Xbox fanboys, keep dreaming."
You said that about Final Fantasy too. Ever thought they might have looked at development costs against number of consoles and an average sales prediction and seen that they may not be able to make back what they put into based on one console? I could care less. I mean GT's pretty and all but Forza 2 eats it's lunch as far as racing's concerned. - djlr181, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3I remember when their were tons of rumors that the original PSX Gran Turismo would be ported over to PC. That did not happen and GT5 will not appear on PC. Sony isn't stupid. I don't care what the guy was implying but Sony would never allow their biggest franchise to appear on anything but a Sony machine. Sony needs to sell Playstation 3's and GT5 will help them as long as it is exclusive.
- sathias, on 04/08/2009, -0/+2What Forza did which really impressed me is change the way you earn money, to encourage you to do as big a variety of the races as possible. With the GT games it always seemed to get to the point where you would find one race which gave a car which you could sell for huge amounts of money, so you could get the cash behind you to get the right car to enter into specific races.
By making won cars worth little money, giving prize cars which suit other races, and increasing cash prizes for winning, Forza broke this monotony. I am looking forward to GT5, but it is disappointing to hear they haven't even looked at Forza. They have improved the formula in some considerable ways, and their ideas are worth looking at. - KAMiKAZOW, on 04/07/2009, -1/+3Why all those comments that Sony will never release games for PC?
Newsflash: Sony makes PCs, too. Sony even sells those with Windows.
Why should Sony not release games for all platforms it makes? Previous Sony games (wipEout, Demolition Derby, etc.) were also released for PC.
Whith cell phones getting more and more powerful, releasing the games (PSP ports?) also for Sony Ericsson phones makes sense as well.
Sony could try digital-only distribution for PCs games -- kinda like Steam, but integrated with Sony's other offerings (music, movies, ebooks). - joegibes, on 04/08/2009, -0/+2"SCEA marketing head John Koller has dropped a heavy hint that Gran Turismo’s future may not be limited to just PSP and PS3."
"Here's hoping it'll be released on 360"
How does that not make sense? They're suggesting that GT may be available on more than Playstation; I'm merely hoping it'll be available on 360. One can dream... - Shazbuckle, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2It's people trying to justify their purchase. That's where the whole "defending my console to the death" attitude comes in.
- matt.rubin, on 04/07/2009, -2/+4(as Microsoft whips out its check book)
- alsazen, on 04/07/2009, -1/+3I think Wipeout and Demolition Derby were by Psygnosis and were scheduled for publication on the Saturn prior to Sony taking notice and buying them.
- inactive, on 04/08/2009, -0/+2Amen... Forza is really a leap in all aspects of physics and handling, etc. Hopefully Sony decides to play the damn game before they release GT5. Or maybe that's exactly what they did, and that's why it's not here yet?
- inactive, on 04/08/2009, -0/+2Hhahaah, so true. I read the article thinking... CAN WE GET IT ON THE ***** PS3 FIRST, PLEASE??????!!!!!!!
Sony sucks. -
