OK. We get it. You don't like Nintendo because you feel it has become an elitist console. You made your point in the first post.
OK. We get it. You watch SouthPark because you like bathroom humor and it makes you feel subversive. You stole their joke in the first post.
If you think you are going to get funnier or more poignant as posts go by, you are sorely mistaken. Perhaps, if you had an original thought, or even an original joke, people might not digg you down. Or does being dugg down help you feel subversive? - nights0223, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Previous what? This is a new side scrolling game.
- iluvatar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10@wiitard
What, exactly, is your problem with Nintendo? They're an entertainment company. If you don't like it don't buy it, but don't pollute digg with your incessantly negative comments.
/bad troll! No biscuit! - jpbleuu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10gotta love the haters, you know he is just a playstation fanboy.
- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9But you can still play it with the Wii. Maybe they'll come out with a Wii version? Either way, if you have a gamecube you're covered and if you're getting a wii, you're still covered. Hooray for backwards compatibility!!!
- mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -11/+19There are better, more accurate uses for the word "gorgeous."
- jrbrewin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8third fart based nintendo bashing comment from wiitard in as pages. you don't work for sony do you?
- davidv, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10The new Paper Mario is for the Gamecube
- sych0, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Re: NitrousFlare
What are you talking about? Firstly, as Nights said, this is a new side-scroller, not a sequel. Secondly, Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door was an excellent game. - BrynoMite, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10@wiitard.
As a Nintendo fanboy who is mature (most of us are) I do not think the fart jokes are humorous at all. I'm assuming that you are not as mature. That's fine. Making a fart reference (Not a joke, a reference) in every single one of your posts is not going to win you any favors. Grow up. Seriously. Come back here in four years or so. - spingk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Wiitard: The word is juxtaposition, and judging by your maturity and use of the word, I doubt you even know the meaning of that word. Just grow up and come back here in a few years.
- MemoryDump, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I'm so glad the "fun" games will be making a comeback! Way to go Nintendo!
- TheThirdWheel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Whoever was playing that was pretty awful. Was it being played with the Wiimote? Looks incredible though, I actually loved SMB2 so picking up enemies looks exciting.
- jrbrewin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7what's with the fart obsession?
- nolanistic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Well Wiitard, in the vein of Sony I'm going to copy someone. I'm going to copy EVERYONE by blocking you, I advise others to do the same.
- cg0def, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6weird game but seems to be fun ... only next time tape someone other that the special ed kids playing ....
- vermin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Yea, I hate watching footage where the player can barely play. The guy could barely walk and jump...
- csb92376, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Ok, here it is for those that have no clue like myself...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_Mario
At first I thought perhaps it was another mario tribute video made from paper cutouts. I guess it's an actual game called "paper mario" simply because it's 2d and paper is 2d, and the characters look like paper cutouts. How original. - nolanistic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Yeah by insulting nintendo baselessly you're sure fighting the 'system' from the inside.
Maybe the Wii is an elitist console because... lets think about this... it's... Better?
I'm just saying. - iluvatar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5maybe he likes paraphrasing mediocre episodes of south park?
/although basing an entire episode off of a dumb pun was pretty damn funny - Unicron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Actually it is a sequel, started with the Paper Mario on N64, now finishing the story arc with the second one on Gamecube.
- millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Interesting that Bowser is a playable character, as he was the final boss in the first Paper Mario. While playable in the SNES Super Mario RPG, that was a different series.
The fact that the generally main villain* of the whole Mario universe is playable in the game must indicate that a truce must have been forged between Mario and Bowser. In Super Mario RPG, he joined Mario because his castle was taken and someone ELSE kidnapped Princess Peach. This doesn't seem to be an issue this time as Peach is also playable here.
* Later games such as Super Mario Sunshine have proven that Bowser isn't just plainly evil, but constantly kidnaps Princess Peach because he's in love with her. - Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5From what I've read you can play as Mario, Peach or Bowser. I'm a little disappointed I can't kick some goomba ass with Toad, but maybe that'll change between now and the final version.
- Schug, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4What was that sparkle thing following him in the first video? It looked like that tiki guy from Crash Bandicoot.
- Konklone, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Those piles of squares have got to be the best trees I've ever seen in a video game. Honestly, in almost every game that has trees, the tree is 2 planes intersecting perpendicularly, and it looks so stupid when everything else looks so realistic. The only game I know that tried to make real looking trees was Shadow of the Colossus. I really like this new Paper Mario game's style.
- TheThirdWheel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Oblivion? I would actually stop and look at trees they looked so good in that game, I don't even do that in real life.
- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4What, you don't think actors watch their own movies? ;)
- millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Man these Sony-fanboy, anti-Nintendo, South Park fans are a dime-a-dozen around here. I wonder if he likes Square Enix, too.
- Mudhoney, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Stop crying over Nintendo getting attention on the front page. Maybe if people weren't interested in a story they wouldn't digg it. You can be a baby all you want but it doesn't change what the readers of this particular site want to see.
- 12340987, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4lol, you can see a reflection of mario's head printed on someones shirt in the monitor when the screen goes dark in one of the videos. It looks like he's playing.
- DelSolMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interesting. Looks like they're dropping turn based battles. That's a surprise.
- THX-7168, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Most annoying background noise ever.
- cracell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2seriously.....wtf you just jumped right into a flower.....hey you...see that little dude walking towards you...for the love of god jump on him or grab him or something.
reminds me of that one time I let my cat play new super mario brothers.... - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wish there was a Smash Bros for DS.
If you want a Mario RPG that's really fun for the DS/GBA then get either Super Mario All Stars or Partners in Time. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mario of the Collossus?
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It totally looks like Navi.
HEY! LISTEN!
NOW I remember why I liked Majora's Mask more than Ocarina of Time. Less Navi! - jmdajr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1my gamecube will still have use!
- millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Think Zelda 2.
- banjokazooie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wiitard, you are a moron. If you're using a Nintendo fanboy name (as am I), at least give Nintendo what It's due. They have shown amazing innovation with the Paper Mario series. Stop making the South Park references, too. You're driving the sane members of Digg up the wall.
- smileyscout, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2mmm.... more Paper Mario action. Paper Mario for Nintendo 64 was awesome and Paper Mario Thousand Year Dood for Gamecube was good too. Now I have sudden urge to play through Paper Mario Thousand Year Door again.
- Rabid_Llama, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow, the game looks pretty good. A mario platformer with some truly new and unique elements -- it's been a long while since that has happened.
- banjokazooie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You really don't play any Nintendo games, do you? Think The Wind Waker. Think Super Mario Sunshine. THINK SUPER SMASH BROS!!! Sorry for the Caps. Lock abuse. I'm serious, though.
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I wish there was a Paper Mario for DS.
I have to travel 3 out of the 4 weeks of each month and I really want a long, RPG/adventure game to play. Not home enough to beat games like this on my GameCube. :( Putting this game on DS would be, like, totally awesome. - terminalpariah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wiktionary defines a fanboy as: someone (normally male) who is utterly devoted to a single subject or hobby, often to the point where it is considered an obsession.
I think we should add a definition for Nintendo fanboy: someone who has publicly made a positive comment on any Nintendo product following the SNES.
So to get called a fanboy, you would have to say
Sony: "OMG Nintendo is soooooo gay. Sony is making its own version of Smash Bros. with all the characters from every Final Fantasy game. It's going to have photorealistic graphics and I heard they've calling it Super Smash Bros.: NOT GAY EDITION!!!"
Nintendo: "Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is a really fun RPG. I have to say I'm pretty excited about the sequel." - AkiraXXX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1WTF is going on today with the word "juxtaposition"? Not a few Digg articles back (Kings Quest III remake article) someone else was abusing the word. Must have been the word of the day emailed to everyone on the "It Pays to Increase Your Word Power" site.
- AwesomeMonster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Umm, what the hell is navi doing there? HEY! LISTEN! HEY! LISTEN! HEY! LISTEN! HEY! LISTEN! HEY! LISTEN! HEY! LISTEN! HEY! LISTEN! HEY! LISTEN! HEY! LISTEN! HEY! LISTEN! Dear god don't let that be navi.
Anybody else notice the heatlh counter and the numbers that appear once goomba like creature has been stomped? Is this some sort of action... platformer RPG ? - Jangles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2cool videos, but why the hell is that retard playing the game? it's annoying to watch how bad he/she is. I feel like a kid again, yelling at my sister trying to play mario and telling her what to do step by step when watching that. Oh well.
- gaijintendo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Looks less 'papery' than the n64 version. But it looks like it should be top fun.
and additionally - watching someone who can't play for peanuts playing the game is painful. This should be a 30 second clip of someone not messing up. - csb92376, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Anyone care to explain what "paper mario" is??? NFC on that one folks.
- Meikle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0While it has the look of 'Paper Mario' it is mainly a side scrolling platformer rather than an RPG unlike the other 2 Paper Mario titles.
