- theLaika, on 11/02/2009, -1/+38how about product placement instead of adsense.
e.g. you don't hide in any old building on an FPS..
..it's a FedEx building! - mamboboy, on 10/12/2008, -0/+37Great! The first thing I want whilst playing games is a clickable advert which will open up my browser window and minimize the game I'm enjoying. Sweet!
- zacbro, on 10/12/2008, -0/+35This frag brought to you by the smooth refreshing taste of Bud Light!
- GarrettGrimsley, on 10/12/2008, -2/+24Keep dreaming.
- matador0, on 10/11/2008, -1/+22YAY!!! Now I pay the same for the game and I get the extra publicity for free!
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -2/+22Great news, the only place where I could enjoy a rest from endless advertising is now compromised by Google... Nice move... Do no evil, huh?
- cherwilco, on 10/12/2008, -0/+14somehow a giant billboard advertising 1-800 flowers just outside of Ironforge just seems like it might be a bit out of place.
- konataXchan, on 10/12/2008, -1/+15Ad block plus for Video games, video ads, all ***** ads.
- HolyChimp, on 10/12/2008, -0/+14At least that might make game devs develop games that don't crash and destroy the universe if you hit Alt+Tab
- gacorley, on 10/12/2008, -0/+12Well, if they put adds into WoW or some other MMO, they'd better at least reduce their friggin' ridiculous subscription rates.
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+11"Find Girls In Your Area, Tonight!"...Ads by Google
- oveedrx, on 10/12/2008, -0/+10Find girls in "your City" who want to ***** Tonight
-Headshot
Game Over - Eqxy, on 10/12/2008, -1/+11there are already a ton of games supported by advertisement.... and they all blow a giant donkey penis.
- GarrettGrimsley, on 10/12/2008, -2/+12I was thinking more along the lines of actual full games; like CS:S, or CoD.
(Games that don't blow) - str3ama, on 10/12/2008, -0/+9I could totally see EA getting all over this, pay for the game and as a bonus you get to see some ads before the game starts, after the game starts, and while you're playing. Oh and if you want to save or load a game, you have to view an ad.
- adog317, on 10/12/2008, -0/+8dang... something adblock+ won't touch
- waynehoggett, on 10/12/2008, -6/+13This might lead to free games :D
- Kral, on 10/12/2008, -0/+7You're only allowed to install the game 3 times, but you can install the ads as much as you want. EA will tout this as a compromise.
- FutureGuy, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6how the f is that good news, ohh wait the line starts with "Google"
get a life. - jsaya, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6HOSTS file ;)
- antonio97b, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6I am going to like the part when this meme dies off with the rest of the cancer.
- arunforce, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6Showdown at Fed Ex.
Throw the package at the terrorist that you think contains the bomb. - inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5*****.
- Persian5Life, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5i laughed at your comment, it is so true.
- lilbugleboy09, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5I would like to think this money would go into development, or bringing down prices...
Which I will until some ***** ruins it with the truth. - AparoidX, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5STOP STARE
FLIRT
"You lost the lead!" - stuffradio, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5Ads* /Spelling nazi
- zacbro, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4Dugg for whilst.
- Mosz, on 10/12/2008, -2/+6well if these profits went to providing free online FPS dedicated servers by the publisher and into anti cheat tools....doesnt sound bad
also in free games such as ET well it WAS FREE so kinda wouldnt blame em, but opening a new window....
not to mention with a good pc and a well programmed game hopefully i wouldnt be able to see too many ads while loading a game let alone navigate a site
hopefully this doesnt mean predetermined map load times regardless of computer strength, although this would reduce the need of warmup timers it could get out of hand - Eqxy, on 10/12/2008, -1/+5No wonder we're in such a financial crisis... People can't even go about their daily routine without being directly or subliminally influenced by some kind of advertising. I can see it now:
Gamer: "Sweeeeet time to play some Halo"
Game: "Hey... how sweet would it be to go and buy this?"
Gamer: "You're right... I need that." - Kral, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4I don't think Coca-Cola is one of the worst offenders when it comes to product placement because they're worried people don't know what Coca-Cola is.
- SugarCoatedSalt, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4AAAW ***** no! First ***** online videos now this?
- Paulorific, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4No one will click on an ad while playing a game...
- kilodelta, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4why do i get the feeling i'm gonna be seeing a TON of ads for Tetley's Teabags in CounterStrike?
- maus56, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4Coors Silver Bullet will be sure to please in FPS games.
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4Far Cry
- Zantive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4Counter-Strike has had in-game ads for a while.
- inactive, on 10/12/2008, -2/+6awesome... now if only they would allow porn ads. :(
- MadEnvoy, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4"Do you suffer from vaginal itching? Click here to learn more about Monistat!" - Clicking advert will not affect other players game play.
- Stinger911, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4Have you downloaded the Crysis Wars beta? EA subjects the player to about 5 unskippable intros every time the application is launched. This includes a 2 minute gameplay video. Altogether you can't play the game for about 4 minutes after you double click because you have to watch the gameplay video + ads for EA, Crytek, Intel, and Nvidia.
- sadsadrobot, on 10/12/2008, -0/+3Enemy Territory and Combat Arms are pretty good.
- windphoenix, on 10/12/2008, -2/+5Great! Google's world domination plans continue. You've got to love this company. Apple vs. Google is going to be one tasty competition in the mobile market.
- NinjaPirateDude, on 10/12/2008, -0/+3theres gonna be a crap ton of ebay in games to come.
- RunnyBabbit, on 10/12/2008, -1/+4Well, I'm enjoying my 20$ copy of TF2. They could have easily made 40 off of me.
- houndeyex, on 10/12/2008, -0/+3They already have ad supported games. Ex: Dungeon Runners
- lulzitsadigg, on 10/12/2008, -1/+4BOOM HEADSHOT
- jamesmcm, on 10/12/2008, -0/+3iptables ;)
- Kral, on 10/12/2008, -1/+4Did digital distribution reduce game prices as promised? Neither will in-game ads.
- Clodhopper, on 10/12/2008, -1/+4"Head on. Apply directly to the forehead."
- steve186, on 10/12/2008, -0/+3BAD ROAD.
