- FBMGriever, on 01/12/2008, -6/+275Why must our technological overlords toy with my emotions?
- Quicksilver4648, on 01/12/2008, -3/+222Seriously, once again, the desire to have to most profits between companies has hurt the consumer. I understand that this is common practice and the whole point of a company is to make money... But come on, its GoldenEye. Throw us a frick'n bone!
- AshamedAmerican, on 01/12/2008, -0/+215And now neither company will get ANY profits. Way to sort it out, children.
- guitarh3ro, on 01/12/2008, -4/+180How about they port it to XBLA and Wii Shop Channel, and stop bitching about who really has the rights to it?
- cusoman, on 01/12/2008, -59/+203Good. The XBox kiddiez of today wouldn't understand the greatness of the game anyways, and therefore it is not deserved.
"ROFLZ this game suckz, lez go play more HALOZ!" - rhylan, on 01/12/2008, -7/+112Maybe I should just pirate it instead right?
... - xTRUMANx, on 01/12/2008, -5/+94Just proved cusoman's point. (2 posts up)
- j4nj1m3n3z, on 01/12/2008, -14/+78or someone could just make a new 007 game that doesn't suck
- xTRUMANx, on 01/12/2008, -3/+63Check out likeyehokwhatev's comment. (2 posts down)
- lexington86, on 01/12/2008, -0/+56True; although we (the goldeneye kiddiez) had to be a tad more polite because we all had to play face to face...
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 01/12/2008, -0/+53Dammit Truman. You got me stuck in an infinite loop...
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 01/12/2008, -4/+55There's always the Goldeneye: Source mod for HL2. Does a pretty good job at recreating the game. http://www.goldeneyesource.com/
- Nerfdude, on 01/12/2008, -0/+40and they would have made money. tons. this would have been the first Live Arcade title i'd actually buy, and i'm sure many would say the same.
- maiku00, on 01/12/2008, -0/+38THIS IS WHY WE CANT HAVE NICE THINGS
- Arrestedevelopr, on 01/12/2008, -5/+40There is already a petition started to ask them to release it. http://www.petitiononline.com/rare007/petition.htm ...
- shadowpr0ph3t, on 01/12/2008, -3/+37Of course because all xbox players never owned a n64 in the old days.
- Nerfdude, on 01/12/2008, -0/+33oh man, an online petition.
Online Petitions: Over Zero Successful Causes Since 1989(tm) - perhapsimcrazy, on 01/12/2008, -3/+34NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- thekronz, on 01/12/2008, -2/+32I just died a little bit inside...
- peznex, on 01/12/2008, -0/+29Nooooo! When we played on the N64, we would split the screen with big pieces of protruding cardboard so you could not screen look.
Complex + Golden Gun + team battle + shooting the body armor to spawn up inside the tower = FTW - masamunecyrus, on 01/12/2008, -0/+28I have an idea -- put it on the VC and put it on XBLA.
No wait, that would be good for the consumers which makes big companies unhappy. - Arkz, on 01/12/2008, -1/+29...you bring shame to x360 fans... i love my 360 but i used to spend hours on goldeneye back in the day, temple kicked ass!
- Godlike, on 01/12/2008, -0/+27My brother and I used to constantly accuse each other of looking at the others screen, at one point we taped cardboard to the TV horizontally and one person would sit on the floor and the other on the couch so that you couldn't see the other persons screen.
Funny though, after long enough and learning the maps you could tell where the other person was just by the color of the light cast on the entertainment center. - jmpeagle, on 01/12/2008, -2/+27then you would be playing Perfect Dark
- detales, on 01/12/2008, -2/+23***** HELL
- Adonai, on 01/12/2008, -0/+20What about other Rare titles? Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, et al? Are those canceled as well?
- MatttK, on 01/12/2008, -2/+19I think I'd much rather an XBLA version with a pretty decent controller and a guarantee that it'll function properly than plugging in my N64 or downloading a ROM.
- lacronicus, on 01/12/2008, -3/+19Meanwhile you fail to mention MS in your flaming, who is just as responsible for it.
- Hipple, on 01/12/2008, -5/+20Wow, no one picks up on sarcasm?
- nintendomaniac, on 01/12/2008, -5/+18If the gamecube can emulate N64 games at full speed, I think the Wii will be perfectly fine. The story says the game was going to be a faithful port (though with online multiplayer), not an HD remake.
- eightyd, on 01/12/2008, -1/+14yet another case of companies fighting over money screwing gamers.
- Arkz, on 01/12/2008, -0/+13have to agree with you, i love the 360, i loved the N64, and i wish i could play on live with mature adults but there really are a LOT of annoying children on live, and i hate it! If its not their "i pwned u" talk its spouting racist nonsense like calling people "***** jew"
- Hetman, on 01/12/2008, -0/+12That is not true. Golden eye has some of it rights with rare. That is were the problem occurs. They cannot release it on the VC because rare will not let them. And they cannot release it on xbl because nintendo will not let them. The end result a screwed gamer.
- ThankTheCheese, on 01/12/2008, -0/+12frankly, the deal should be that it appears on both XBLA and Wii Virtual Console simultaneously. I realise that will never happen, but I can dream...
- insovietrussia, on 01/12/2008, -0/+12What Microsoft needs to realise, is that I would buy an XBox to play this. And a Live sub... for eternity.
- inactive, on 01/12/2008, -0/+12....why the hell didn't I think of that? We used the honor system. :/
"You better not be looking! I know you're looking!" - YellowSnowDemon, on 01/12/2008, -1/+13Not that kind of sarcasm. Judging by alot of posts on Digg, there seems to be a number of idiots that actually believe Wii wouldn't be able to run something like that.
- Eallan, on 01/12/2008, -0/+12I mean all they did was lose out on 100% of the money now. Irritating.
- jordanlgta, on 01/12/2008, -5/+16I see you copied the thoughts of a Kotaku member. Interesting.
- musicphreke, on 01/12/2008, -1/+12How does one "silly"?
- PFS1, on 01/12/2008, -0/+10BLAST CORPS
- Pzycho, on 01/12/2008, -3/+13I read that as "Why must our technological overlords toy with my erections?"
...which also fits. - GalacticXenu, on 01/12/2008, -0/+10You have to realize that Nintendo and Microsoft, being direct competitors, they're really going to fight over the profits because Nintendo isn't going to want Microsoft to get more of an edge and vice-versa.
- virtualball, on 01/12/2008, -1/+11You're happy? Because, y'know, gay does mean excited/joyous. Ohhhh you're using it identify something is horrible and stupid. Well, if you're one of those people who don't understand why that's bad, let me just replace the word to show you: "No GoldenEye? How black of them!" or "No GoldenEye? Why are they acting like jews!" You're using a type of people and relating it to something dreadful without even realizing it!
- Cloned, on 01/12/2008, -0/+9Temple? Come on, Facility all the way.
- afx1, on 01/12/2008, -1/+10ah, the venerable Internet petition...
- bubbakja, on 01/12/2008, -0/+9Whatever, we considered it a skill to screen watch and be able to stay alive on your own. It's not like madden where you can watch the play being picked. This game was practically the only thing played in my basement for two straight years. We rented it so many times that my Mom actually bought it for us. That marked the first and only time we ever got a game outside of Xmas or Birthdays.
- gpw11, on 01/12/2008, -2/+11I get what you're saying there, but to be perfectly honest the game hasn't aged well at all. I used to love it and spent hours upon hours playing both SP and MP, but when I went back to play it for a bit a few months ago I was really let down. Perhaps it's because I just expect more in terms of level design and AI for FPS games these days (and before anyone says it, no I'm not a huge Halo fan), but it just didn't hold up well at all.
The MP was still somewhat fun when I went back to it, but I'd probably have a better time playing Goldeneye: Source to be honest. Nostalgia goes a long way, but not that far. - joshman5k, on 01/12/2008, -1/+10The last few seconds was an emotional roller coaster. First the excitement of Goldeneye on XBLA and then I read it was canceled.
- cusoman, on 01/12/2008, -3/+12I made no reservations in my over-generalization. You have to admit though, the majority of 360 owners are just too young. Anyone who's spent any time at all on XBL can figure that out.
