- TravisS, on 10/12/2007, -10/+13Don't think it's out yet
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -38/+31get it while it's hot...this ***** is going to get Foxed so fast.....
Rare, Nintendo, Microsoft, EA, and whatever studio the movie is owned by are all going to shut this bitch down! - davidhildreth, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8it will be out sometime today 12/26
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -30/+23Digging me down for a valid comment? nice. It's not like I'm bashing the mod itself, it looks sweet. The fact of the matter is that it's going to get shut down. They're violating copyrights.
Digg users are ***** idiots. - koolaide, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13It's alright, man, I dugg you up. Honestly guys, he's simply making a valid point. I am so excited for this mod (been following it since it was first posted on Digg), but unfortunately with the lawsuit-happy companies in this country, I wouldn't be surprised to see this project shut down. It sucks, but it's the truth.
- betterth, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6How can you shut it down? It's fair use, they're not profiting or removing profits from the company. If anything, this will just spark the desire and help Nintendo advertise the release of it on the Wii.
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13While you wait:
Project64 - Best N64 emulator that runs most games even on my old ass laptop:
http://www.pj64.net/main/index.php
N64 "All Roms" Pack:
http://www.mininova.org/det/351492 (If you don't have a client that allows you to download individual files from a torrent.. time to get a new client).
Can't wait for the Goldeneye Source though, well, I guess I can, since I have been which seems like forever, but still.. - shredswithpiks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@ betterth
it certainly can be shut down... you don't have to be profiting off somebody's IP to be infringing on it. Anyone remember the 3D chrono trigger remake that was in production? Square shut that down... :(
hopefully some people will get to try this game before it gets rocked by the IP owners - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Alright guys, so we missed our targetted date, but the good news is that we found the bug that has been causing us grief for so long! With that in mind we are now going through the mod and making sure no major issues exist. AND!!!! Because of the bug that came up, while coders were bughunting, other developers got the Cougar Magnum and DD44 back into our beta release. We were planning on cutting them due to a few major flaws and no solution. So you guys are ending up with a better release and only a days delay from our ESTIMATE! "
http://goldeneyesource.com/ - macewan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hey, that kicks ass
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -38/+31get it while it's hot...this ***** is going to get Foxed so fast.....
- BOFH139, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Update:
Alright fellas. Everything is completed, but there are a few issues that we are going to sort out tomorrow. We are extremely tired, all of us and seeing that it was Christmas as well, many of us didn't get alot of sleep to begin with, and on top of that we've been working for 13+ hours. So, as like us, get some sleep guys, we are sorry that we couldn't release it ON Christmas, but it will be released tomorrow (at the earliest), but the time has not been confirmed.
I will unlock this thread now, for you guys to discuss, but please no rants or spam. Thanks.

Ignore this for now, but keep your eyes open later today or tomorrow.

Buried as innacurate. - Nameless1, on 10/12/2007, -52/+9Excuse me for asking, (i will probably end up reaching the record of most hated comment with this)
Whats up with golden eye source? Why such a ***** storm?
Its just another hl2 mod. It isn't even such a great one at that.
So, please enlighten me.- superkyle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+51Goldeneye for the N64 is still considered one of the greatest first person shooters ever so its a big deal for many gamers when anything happens with it
- numba1xclusive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21it only was one of the best games created for N64.
/sarcasm - spartan777, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13its the BEST hl2 mod out there. have you ever played goldeneye? if you haven't, go get an N64, play it, then you can call yourself a gamer (i'm half kidding. but only half.)
Its some mod of the year award, and you should check out the trailer for the beta, its sweet. - Nameless1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Heh. I played the last Christmas beta. maybe thats why i didn't like it that much.
- 81v3d07g0d, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19I think Perfect dark was really better, but since golden eye was the precursor it gets most of the credit.
- trylleklovn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10While Perfect Dark added everything which we who loved GoldenEye, really wanted GoldenEye to include, it was really GoldenEye that spawned Perfect Dark.
I am glad however that Perfect Dark got to be an entirely new game, since it allowed for more new stuff to be included.
I would also really like to see a Perfect Dark mod for HL2. - theBrink, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4people like their old games better than new ones. For me growing up with doom/quake/unreal I never saw what was great about goldeneye, you had to own a N64 I guess, still don't think I missed out on anything I didn't get elsewhere. Also, it's a lot tougher to port newer games, imagine the work to port GOW, of course that would be shutdown before it left someone's lips.
- tyler1175, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6here's the trailer for it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVesVgTaRBU
- wingnut21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"I would also really like to see a Perfect Dark mod for HL2."
http://www.pdark-mod.com/ - Nameless1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Just watched the trailer.
Yay just some maps and no gamplay footage.
Must admit, the GE_CRADLE looks breathtaking.
- Sh0cker, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2I think it was released last Christmas too....
- sanitycheck, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4That was Duke Nukem Forever.
- WolfwoodX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It was like Pre-Alpha RC-0.02 back then though.
- crywolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm sure this will rock, maybe beating other mods like gary's mod?
- whoaohh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16"the release of Goldeneye Source will have to be postponed due to major server failures due to the Digg Effect."
- timjbart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Nice one diggers, we killed it. More delays
- NeoPlatonist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yay, us!!!
/sarcasm - Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1God damn it!
I'm tempted to not digg this just cause of that.
- tekz0r, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1"this amazing team is working through the night to give us an amazing Christmas gift."
wait, it's amazing? is it an 8 inch cube? - jowep55, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7The only reason the original goldeneye was so "amazing" is because it was groundbreaking. With all the modern FPS's available now, which would all tear goldeneye to shreds in terms of gameplay. The only reason I would go back to Goldeneye is to relive some old memorys. Which I am sure what a lot of people will be doing, for about one day.
- meamog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2nostalgia, yes. but i think anyone who continues to play it will do so because it is fun.
- gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26Why don't we wait until things are actually released before posting that they're released on Digg.
- KamikazeeDriver, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1i agree, your comment should be dugg by everyone here
- serpentor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Is there a full weapons list somewhere which shows which new guns will be available? Really hoping the RC-P90 and/or D5K Deutsche made it in..
- serpentor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Guess it's a no-go on the P90 and Deutsche, but some decent pistols, and mines are fun :)
New Weapons:
* Remote Mines
* Proximity Mines
* Timed Mines
* DD44
* Sniper Rifle
* Gold PP7
* Silver PP7
* Cougar Magnum
* Slappers
Updated Weapons:
* KF7 Soviet - new model / skin
* PP7 - added unsilenced mode
* ZMG - added silenced mode - Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No AR33?
- serpentor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Guess it's a no-go on the P90 and Deutsche, but some decent pistols, and mines are fun :)
- CyberSteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4http://www.gametrailers.com/umwatcher.php?id=24528
there's the beta 1 game trailer, wow does it bring back some good memories :) - renegadeafk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2sweetness, i loved this on the N64
- ryanvsrobots, on 10/12/2007, -18/+1buried as inaccurate because it's STILL not out. I'm tired of this crap.
- CyberSteve, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7why don't you go over there and tell them that to their faces, if you can't read, they said they have been up for over 13 hours working on it, give em a break you *****
- ltkerr0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Could have waited till it was actually released to post on digg.
- jonathan4465, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2@theBrink
You hit the nail right on the head! I was NEVER impressed with Goldeneye N64. I also grew up playing Unreal Tournament and the like, which completely blew away anything Goldeneye had to offer. BUT, I absolutely love playing anything that is Source Engine based, and I think this will be a fun mod with serious LAN playability.- serpentor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You're overlooking one major aspect, RELEASE DATE. Goldeneye came out *over 2 years* before UT99 was released. It ruled the roost during that lull in PC FPS gaming between Quake 1 and UT99 (yes there was Q2, but that just looked like rehashed Q1 ***** to me).
- stappawho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10What made golden eye so good is that you could play it any way you wanted. You could go through guns blazing or you could go though with all stealth. It was really up to you.
Also, both story mode and multi-player were solid.
- haastyle, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1umm hasn't this been out for a while...well maybe alpha version or something, but i have been playing this for a long time
- PointGuard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Im reading this and it isn't out yet...why don't you post this when the software is out!?
- MrSpock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Goldeneye earned a special place in history and in the hearts of a lot of gamers. Even if you didn't/don't like the game you have to acknowledge and respect that. It was great, you could play it as a group and slaughter your friends or on the solo tip. Very challenging, very fun. I miss it.
- jonathan4465, on 10/12/2007, -12/+7I'm not saying I don't "respect" goldeneye, all I'm saying is at the end of the day it wasn't all that impressive. I feel the same exact way about The Beatles.
- Strimkind, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9you sir, are weird
- bubba9999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's a Beatles mod for HL2? Awesome!
- BabyWookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Is it multi-player only? I'm not that big on multi-player games, but would love to check it out if it had a decent single player campaign.
- davidr64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I heart GoldenEye for the 64. I hadn't even heard of this HL2 mod until now.
Man, my friends and I spent so many hours after school with this game, sitting in a dark room racing for the armor and RCP-90s. - Toast1185, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wish I had something besides my crumby laptop that could handle this. Or the original n64 and the game. I guess I'll just be content to use the now vast wasteland that is my imagination :-
- bubba9999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Or maybe an emulator. It should run on your old craptop.
- bubba9999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Or maybe an emulator. It should run on your old craptop.
- jonathan4465, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@Strimkind
Indeed. :) - mikefitz2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1can i play this mod if in only have CS source installed or does the mod require HL2 files to be installed to function?
- ours, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm not 100% certain about it but I would expect this to require HL2 multiplayer. Hope I'm wrong for you.
- CitizenKamb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The alpha could be played with only CSS or DoD Source, but it required a easy little hack. Not sure about the beta.
- gia257, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2With a Source based game (Hl2 CSS, etc) you get access to a game called "Source SDK Base", you have to install it in order to play Hl2 mods.
- mikefitz2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Awesome. For those of you wondering the same thing I was, look at this: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Source_SDK_Base
"This application is available for download.
Enter steam://run/215 in your address bar to start it.
You can also enter steam://store/220 to purchase Half-Life 2 and the Source SDK Base." - revidium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Entering steam://run/215 in my browser just launched the Half Life Stress Test.
- mikefitz2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Awesome. For those of you wondering the same thing I was, look at this: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Source_SDK_Base
- chrozz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That site may or may not try to slay your browser.
- slickrick2k1, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0I am shocked that PC fanboys "don't get what the big deal is" about goldeneye. Utterly shocked.
/sarcasm
Double clicking is for folders and apps not for fps's. - ryanvsrobots, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7why dig me down? it's NOT out!!
- entr0py, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Because you have no idea what is going on?
- idmclaren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Because a lot of people reading this are rabid retards who don't understand people are complaining about the inaccuracy of the headline and this making front page. Apparently they think you're attacking the people actually making this mod, like it was their fault this was posted.
- mikefitz2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok, so it's been released by the time we read the article description. Where is the download link? All their Wiki has are a few alphas, where is the beta?
- jonathan4465, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1@slickrick2k1
You're right, and if it weren't for "PC Fanboys" your beloved consoles wouldn't even exist. - DrScott, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Dugg for the avatar,
MUDA MUDA MUDA - ZA WARUDO! - disturbed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Will I be able to purchase this game as a standalone or will I have to get HL2 to play it?
- Kamisado, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Its a mod - its free, but you will have to have a Source engine based game to play it (such as HL2, CS:S, DOD:S etc.)
- 5hop4orce, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I just read this, and it's not released.
Reported inaccurate. - MaXPL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1kamisado, so all i need is to have CS:S installed on my pc and the mod will work?
- Kamisado, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, with a little tweaking, but nothing substantial. Take a look at their wiki:
http://dev.goldeneyesource.com/wiki/index.php/Installing_Client

(25 minutes to go)
http://www.vaughnsoft.com/goldeneye/ - skyfire1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love this game so much. Now I can make a fool out of my younger brother again by using the ventilation shaft.
- MrStabby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can now officially live off of Steam...
- ronaldst, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I was thinking more like the source code to Goldeneye. :(
- Ln2Blaze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0here it is http://games.internode.on.net/filelist.php?filedetails=5034
