Goldeneye 007: Ten Years Later

racketboy.com — Few games have caused as much awe and frustration as Rareware’s 1997 Goldeneye 007. Bringing four-player FPS to a console was unheard of at the time to most gamers. Predating Half Life by a year, Goldeneye provided us a reason to gather up the troops and stalk the halls of the temple. But how does it play today?

People know, when you talk about Goldeneye, you're not talking about the singleplayer (even though unlike Halo, Goldeneye's singleplayer was awesome) you're talking about the multiplayer and how yourself and 3 of your friends had a great time playing it.
  • dimension, on 11/13/2007, -1/+111Just this very past week I pulled my N64 out of storage, hooked it up, put in Goldeneye and plopped my 4 1/2 year old in front of it. He has gone from spinning in circles, to clearing stage one in Agent mode by himself in less then a week. He can't read yet, but he knows which button to hit to pop the lock on the gate, which button to open the doors, and where to jump off the dam.

    It is a small feat, but it brings tears of joy to a father's eyes. Everyday now we sit down and play together at his request. He said "I had a really fun day daddy.", then he hugged me and fell asleep in my arms.

    Don't change a damn thing, just remap the controls, upgrade the graphics and sound effects, and set it loose.

    Of course, adding online would be a must, and if you can match the genius of the original goldeneye maps, add some new maps

    a mod thats very true to the game. go get it! when this came out, it was the reason i bought the hl pack. I dont think anyone plays anymore though.

  • Lane, on 11/12/2007, -0/+17Also with emulation you can run the game at vastly beyond it's native resolution, pump on the AA and go into your graphics card drivers and turn it on some more! Games like mario 64 really show unbelievable improvement in graphic quality.
