- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10PS2 = Over 100,000,000 right now
PS3 = Probably a couple hundred thousand by February
Since more people have the PS2, that would have the potential to bring in more sales.
Plus development time would be shorter since they already have all the technology down. - viciousvex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10No - that is not possible. I think they have some sort of polygraph wired to the web forms - meassuring your body heat and amount of sweat on your fingertips to prevent such nasty behaviour. ;)
The game looks nice, but not very interesting. Kind of boring I think. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Holy crap I have never played God of War, but had wanted to. This dude kills EVERYTHING! He even downs the freaking eagle in the end! Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr greeen tea....
- Arkitus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Obviously you've taken the time to make sure you don't make any spelling mistakes. Well done.
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Noobs! Play the game and make out your own attack combinations. That's what god of war is about. The attack "engine" is designed like that. You have the pleasure to discover what tricks you can pull with Kratos.
- DaWolfman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5more money to be had
- SuperBeast, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6No, there are definitely some new moves in there. This looks incredible.
- howie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Eh, those are the low-res versions! Hires:

But if you thought the last one was sweet button mashing violence with lots of jubbles, then you'll love this one too. Are these demos for PS2 or PS3? If it's PS2, that's damn impressive they've pushed the graphics that far.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wow, another Halo game! I can have the gameplay of Marathon 2 (or Infinity) all over again on Xbox 360 now? Yeah, it was ahead of its time, but it came out 10 years ago! Just adding vehicles and updating the graphics isn't enough to carry a game for that long.
Halo sucked. Halo 2 only slightly less so.
I expect you're right about the generation thing though. It'll be difficult for any game on PS2 to get GOTY in 2007.
My money is on a Nintendo game. Maybe Revolution-based, maybe DS. - flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6well I guess I am old enough to buy the game, but not old enough to view the trailor. Kind of ***** in my opinion.
- howie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Um, how do you know what the game will be like? Do you know all the new stuff? Did you get an inside scoop or something?
- bnitro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2GOW2 you are my new master i shall not put any game before you
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Use mplayer or VLC
- Staryx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3There's a place for grammer and spelling nazis in hell... Right next to the lawyers I believe.
- DaWolfman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5"What we've all been waiting for."
Totally haven't been waiting for it. Hell, I didn't even know they were making a sequel. I suppose it makes sense that they are, but this just don't look appealing to me at all. If I want to beat the ***** out of people, I'll just load up my copy of Double Dragon 2. DD2's coop is second to none. - sinfony, on 10/12/2007, -9/+11Seeing some angry dude perform the same fighting move over and over again does not exactly scream "Game of the Year" to me. Especially since it's the same move from the first one. I need to see substantial advances over the first game before I'm ready to declare this promising.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2GoW is playable in 480P. This movie is 640x480, which is almost the same. But it isn't the pixel resolution that's too good for PS2, it's the resolution of the textures and models. GoW looks great, but not quite this good.
I'd rather it came out on PS3, but I'll survive. If it's anywhere near as fun as the first one, it'll be a huge hit.
BTW, a friend saw a different version of this trailer. He said after Kratos gets done prying the eye out of the cyclops, he jumps up and stuffs it in his mouth! I again feel dirty for enjoying this game. But I can't wait for the sequel! - InternetUser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"I like my sequels to be new and different"
Best line evaaarrr. - grat2001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I see BugMeNot2 and I had the same Idea at the same time!
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wouldn't even count the final (Ares) battle as great. Killing the zillion Kratos clones was better. The first part of the Ares battle was pretty lame, the second part was lamer.
But I don't think that overall the game suffered. Yes, the hydra is awesome, and there's little in the game to match the quality of that battle. But that's okay. Most games don't have one battle as cool as the hydra battle or minotaur battle. GoW has both! - Agret, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4"What we've all been waiting for."
Speak for yourself, God of War was alright but fairly stand fare. It didn't really stand out among other games. - howie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2(Well, they are 640x480, not exactly *high* resolution, but decent enough I guess.)
- TechnoPops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1PS2. I dunno, doesn't look THAT much better. Not like that'd keep me from grabbing it on release day, though.
- TechnoPops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A friend of mine says that there is a statue or sculpture in the Pandora's Box temple in the first game that depicts something looking like man overthrowing the gods, and when you click on it it says, "A vision of things to come." So, maybe that has something to do with it.
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1I never played the first one, but I always thought the commercials on TV for it were cool. This new one looks even cooler / more fun to play, I'm gonna check it out this time.
- Rotkiv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1now i want to play god of war. they look like fun games.
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Kratos can beat the ***** out of ninjas.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can't wait to play. Actually, watching that video, I just want to play GoW all through again. I finished it 3 times through (final on God mode). What an incredible game. I had finished it on regular, and I wanted to show it to a friend. So I started playing (on warrior mode), I just couldn't stop. I played it for 5 hours straight and my friend watched. I ended up finishing it and starting again.
It's just so fun. I feel horrible about it, because the game is so ultra violent. But it's just a blast. Make fun of the moves if you want, but they have a fantastic feel to them. Putting together the right combo to beat a particular enemy is very rewarding.
And for those who didn't play the first one as much as me, I can say there were several new moves exhibited in the movie.
Also, the rendering in the movie is too good, the flames on the Blades of Chaos never looked that good. It must be rendered on some other hardware for this movie. I'm sure it'll still look good when it comes to PS2, but not quite that good. - Mischa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah I thought the same thing. There were some rad boss battles, but they were few and far between. The Hydra, the Minotaur and the last battle (which wasnt that big a deal in contrast) were all that come to mind. I strongly remember engaging in hours upon hours of Tomb Raider style puzzle solving, which is cool, but only if you get rewarded for a long string of such mind numbing gameplay with a huge battle involving decapitation and other body part removal.
Still a great game, I wager the sequel will be more balanced out.
M - cripster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Anyone else disapointed with the boss battles in the original?
The only cool ones really were the first hydra battle where you had to spear it's head and the last battle of the game.
Even in some of those unlocked videos the developers said they put in too much work at the start of the game and were forced to remove a lot of content in order to meet deadlines; i'm not sure if this is the best strategy.
Regardless, it was pretty awesome. - Kokichi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wasn't this the one they showed us at the GDC?
- digiteyes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1having played god of war.. im more than excited to see this come out.. I must say god of war is probably one of the best games made.. well at least second to Metal Gear. The game was really well thought of
- dnder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DS? you must be insane to think that a handheld game will evr get game of the year.
- Junel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Game looks pretty far along for such a late release, almost a year away...
- gabebear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1640x480 is the highest res you are going to capture from a non-HD game(480p @ 4:3 = 640x480).
- gumbyender, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Download it in zip form instead of buffering. - includes screen shots as well
http://www.spawnpoint.com/filedetails.asp?fid=187 - fluffebunnie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1To those who haven't played the first one: You are missing out. This is a gamer's game. It's kind of an action game but with old school platforming and intuitive puzzle solving. Very fun. You could also say it's Rygar on crack/Rygar turned up to 11.
- gabebear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1make sure you have the win32 codecs installed, they work in pretty much any player.
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/codecs.html - gabebear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Recoil42
I generally take offense that budget buyers don't care about quality, if anything we care more about quality.
The installed base of PS2s is over 100M, which means if Sony manages to get 4M PS3s out in a year the attach rate will have to be 25 times higher for the PS3 than the PS2 to make releasing a PS3 only game more profitable. GOW2 should easily sell 10M its first year which means you would have to have people buying multiple coppies of the game for every PS3 to make it more profitable.
It is almost always about sales/money. - Staryx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Naw, I'm sure most of us are old enough. Now get off my lawn!
- Poon007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you are damn straight I am buying this one.
- AngryPenguin47, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1mplayer, totem works too.
- iamtheratio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am thinking Kratos is back because of his brother. Remember the story in the first God of War, the weaker ones were made slaves and the stronger ones were trained to fight?
I'm not sure if his brother died, but maybe he escaped hell and he wants some revenge because Kratos didnt keep him from becoming a slave?
Who knows, I can't wait for this game. - ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@sinfony EXUSE ME?... dude... Combos belong to Killer Instinct.. hands down.
- xLiKx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1one word: awesome. too bad it doesn't come out until Feb 2007
- evangelion01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Since when is standar rez high rez? high rez for me is atleast 720p.
