- chocobomog, on 10/12/2007, -3/+111All this means is it is a good time to be a gamer:
Final Fantasy XII was just released and it received just as high (if not higher) scores, including a perfect 40 from Famitsu.
Zelda: TP will probably also receive super high scores.
Sony fans shouldn't worry. Wii fans shouldn't worry. Everyone should just be happy to be a gamer and if they get a chance, pick up each of these wonderful games when prices/demand drop. It took me 3 years before I played Halo, and it was great! Gears of War will probably be the same. - heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -11/+851up has also given 10's to:
NBA 2K2
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004
BookWorm Deluxe
Decisive Battles of World War II: Korsun Pocket
Madden NFL 2003
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
Company of Heroes
Ninja Gaiden Black
Halo: Combat Evolved
Homeworld: Cataclysm
Medieval: Total War
WWE WrestleMania XIX
The Sims: Unleashed
Grand Theft Auto Double Pack
Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay -- Developer's Cut
Silent Hunter III
Bully - mxcl, on 10/12/2007, -3/+74If you're right, I'll give you a thousand dollars and the key to my girlfriend's chastity belt.
- Oktober, on 10/12/2007, -3/+73Hey, guess what.
I'm getting a PS3 (probably shortly after launch), and I'm still excited about Gears of War.
I may even get a Wii!
Do you know why?
I LIKE PLAYING GAMES. - Zero2aHero, on 10/12/2007, -14/+75How do you call something that isn't out yet overrated? Idiot. I dugg the story in spite of your stupid Sony fanboy comment in the title.
- puzzlesource, on 10/12/2007, -3/+51@ heysuburbia
while the 1up list contains questionable titles, a 9.6 from gamespot is pretty hard to achieve and IGN corroborates with it's ratings too...should be a good one - RazorElite, on 10/12/2007, -27/+75Yes it will!! Just like how the first Killzone owned Halo 2!! OMG! Ahaha, loser.
- PhantomRogue, on 10/12/2007, -8/+45Is this the game that will carry the 360 like Halo 1 did for the Xbox?
Signs point to Yes. - djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -4/+40I'm having issues with the 1up review. Shoe spends several paragraphs bitching about it - with what seems like legitimate complaints - but he still gives the game a 10?
- WickedDrag0oN, on 10/12/2007, -7/+37Its a game, why would fanboys be shaking?
- SnuKs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32No digg. Why? This was posted by a MS fanboy.
I dont see why people have to side with one console. I love Halo. Gears looks like it's gonna own. Guitar Hero II ROCKS. Metal Gear Solid 4 is gonna be crazy and the Wii's fun factor can't be touched!
So ***** fanboyism. If you like it, play it! Regardless of what's it on. - Pulse_Instance, on 10/12/2007, -5/+31@mxcl
if you have the key to her chastity belt, why does she still have the belt? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27What an asinine title.
So...people that WERE going to buy a Sony are now not going to bcuase ONE game for the XBox is rated really well?
Seriously truspector...if you apply that logic to your whole life, there is no way you will survive long enough to kiss a woman. - GeneralFault, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22I have not seen a good movie in several years. I'm glad that the gaming industry is starting to pick up the slack in decent entertainment.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23Actually, as a "Sony fanboy" I could care less. Cool that the Xbox 360 is getting good games actually.
Stupid title. Very stupid title. - PatoLucas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20"if you have the key to her chastity belt, why does she still have the belt?"
Err... DRM??? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21It's very hard to believe that Gamespot has given a higher score to a game than IGN. Perhaps Microsoft didn't give IGN enough exclusive treatment to warrant a higher score.
- webbsk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19@Oktober
You mean you can play more than one game and own more than one system?! Surely you're joking! - Ascendant, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Yeah really... I mean, when Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out, and kicks ass, does that mean "Microsoft fanboys" will "start shaking?" No... and that's because it's a damn GAME RELEASE not a play in a football game.
- ravis31, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18here's another revew from IGN(9.4/10)
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/744/744356p1.html - dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16His claim is that the good of the game elevates it over these hurdles to 10-status. Something I sure don't agree with. But I think what he's trying to do is show his endorsement for this game wholly, and basically ensure that, if you purchase this game, you will love it, no matter who you are.
- ReCkLeSsX, on 10/12/2007, -8/+22Once again, why is there a need to compare anything not a PS3 to the PS3?
Each consoles are great in their own respect. The "console wars" are so childish. - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -13/+27And why specifically PS3 fanboys? Wii is also another console coming out.
Honestly, the Digg community are awfully scared of the PS3. - pauleku, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16I love how he says the next killzone will own when the 1st one wasnt really all that fantastic AND we have yet to see any actual footage of the game.
- KingGoonie, on 10/12/2007, -11/+23Wait till Zelda.. it will get even higher ratings than that, and Sony will REALLY be shaking with visions of a distant third.
- Gundam, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17Meh, I seriously expect to see it on the PC in a year, not only is Epic mainly a PC geared company, and MS wants to push Games for Windows at the same time. Just as the OMG Xbox exclusive Halo 2 is coming, Gears of War probably is too, I would put money on it.
In other news 1up has a total of zero credibly for game reviews, somehow, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and NWN2 both got a 4/10 on 1up and everywhere else they get around 8 or 9 outta 10. They even pulled the NWN2 review and plan on issuing another. 1up needs to be removed form collective rating sites such as Game Rankings and Metacritic. - vvvv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9That's because the PS3 controller lacks the dual-shock feature.
- acurism, on 10/12/2007, -4/+121 Up gave it a 10 but had negative things to say about Gears of War...
You can always find reasons not to give a game a review score of 10. Control issues (Gears of War has that). A.I. problems (that, too). Bad dialogue or storytelling (yes on both). Linear levels, online lag, limited modes (yup, yup, and yup).
IMO a 10 is perfect. No flaws. From what 1Up's first paragraph states is that it has flaws. So how the hell did it get a 10? - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10"There's no need to mention Wii, since it's not competing in the graphics area. Nintendo went a different route and concentrated on the controller. Now, PS3 and Xbox 360 are in direct competition with each other."
That's where you are wrong. The Wii isn't playing some separate race, it's part of this very same console war. Consumers who buy more than one console are so few that they can be discarded as a statistical anomaly. If the average consumer buys a PS3 or XBOX360 they likely will not also buy a Wii. In fact, the Wii fans should be more worried than the PS3 fans for entirely the same reason you claim they shouldn't be: Wii really does have no chance of ever matching the visuals of Gears of War, whereas the PS3 has a chance. Again, the average consumer will see those graphics and compare with the other demo units just metres away. First impressions count massively. - Sakumi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10It looks like I'll be buying a Xbox 360 Premium bundle tonight, oh and a copy of Gears of War. I've sat outside looking in the next-gen gaming scene far too long...
Oh god, a $500 splurge purchase >.> - chocobomog, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13Sony just had Final Fantasy XII receive just as high, if not higher scores, including a perfect 40 Famitsu score. They have two or three FFXIII games also coming their way within the next year made by the same teams from Kingdom Hearts and FFXII. Not to mention MGS4. Or any of the launch titles which have not been reviewed yet (although those are less likely to score this well).
Every system has highly anticipated games which receive great scores, so no one is worried. Just be happy that you are a gamer and have some many great choices to choose from. - y2tattle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9How many articles do we need reviewing one game.. we get it.. it looks good
- Covenant9, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10@truspector:
You had a great opportunity to spread the word about the new "killer app" on the 360 and possibly gain Microsoft's console a little more respect but you then kill it by adding that stupid "Sony Fanboys" comment at the end. Nice one, idiot.
Cue the endless...."Oh yeah? Well, Zelda/Resistance will pawn joo!" responses....ad nauseum. - BasouKazuma, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14There's no need to mention Wii, since it's not competing in the graphics area. Nintendo went a different route and concentrated on the controller. Now, PS3 and Xbox 360 are in direct competition with each other.
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Classic. Game nerds calling out other game nerds.
- Kurto2021, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I still think BioShock is the game to get. That demo they had youtube where the developer walked through the game was freaking amazing.
- reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Yeah thats just stupid. What's wrong with giving it a 9.5 or 9? No game deserves a 10 score (except maybe Mario 64 since it was revolutionary...even Zelda: OOT had flaws even though it is the greatest game ever). IGN's 9.4 makes the most sense so far. It's a great game no doubt (though I haven't played it yet) but it just seems a bit overrated given the few multiplayer modes there are.
- vvvv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Now all you need is a job.
- mxcl, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Resistance Fall of Man has quite a following though. I'm looking forward to the reviews. But I expect to be loving GoW and Zelda plenty, both in different ways, and hoping my mate follows through on his PS3-purchase-promise so I can play a bit of RFoM too.
- christiancadeo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9third here and I am a microsoft employee. It's great to have games on ALL systems.
- darkixion, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Why does a game being amazing on one machine affect the games on the other? If you're suggesting PS3 "fanboys" will be losing some bragging rights then who gives a crap? Why can't people just enjoy the frickin' games rather than go back to the days of SNES vs Megadrive/Genesis? "My console is better than yours, therefore I'm better."
I'm sure I won't be suffering from some pointless inferiority complex if there happens to be an excellent game on a system I don't own. - nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7you should not compare the consoles based on 1 game. EOS.
I kind of consider myself a Sony fanboy. I want Sony to win this console war and I think they have by far the best console. However, I own a 360 and plan on getting a Wii for Christmas. Each system has different GAMES. That is all that matters. Gears of War on 360 (which my friend should be picking up for us right now) is not going to make me not buy a ps3 or a Wii. Ridiculous title. - SnuKs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8My thoughts exactly. ***** man.. gamers nowadays have a 6 year old complex.
- Weenis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"going back to the days of my console is better than yours" implies that mindset ever stopped. Unfortunately, it didn't.
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5well there's your problem. You don't put your head around it. You put your hands on the controller and your head in front of the tv. I hope that helps.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12Resistance seems to have the same amount of following as Perfect Dark Zero had when it was the only FPS on the 360. From what I've heard about the game is that it's a generic shooter with pretty graphics.
- kamilX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Gotta love the way 1up starts the review..
"You can always find reasons not to give a game a review score of 10. Control issues (Gears of War has that). A.I. problems (that, too). Bad dialogue or storytelling (yes on both). Linear levels, online lag, limited modes (yup, yup, and yup). But as I was playing through the game, I found one consistently good feature: It was constantly impressing the hell out of me."
That first paragraph makes me NOT want to like this game right from the get go, although I'm sure it's a spectacular game... - EarlofSlander, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Damn it it's not a first person shooter. IT'S A THIRD PERSON SHOOTER
- hackwrench, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Time for the Sony Fanboys to start shaking."
That's no help at all. I can't tell if they should be shaking in fear or excitement. - matariel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Why would ps3 fanboys care about GoW reviews? They are PS3 fans not 360 fans.
