- DBiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+67And in another shocking turn of events, the sun will rise tomorrow!
But seriously, all I ask for is 4 player co op... please? - eMximeR, on 10/12/2007, -2/+59Surprise of the year!
- HardwareLust, on 10/12/2007, -2/+44I want some of whatever you're smoking.
Oh wait, it's Masterchief's *****!
Nevermind. - Lixie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+39I'm flaccid with rage.
- yournamehere, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27yes it is, i added billgates too and they talk to me all the time. also, my room is padded.
- deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Might as well go ahead and confirm Gears of War 3 while we're at it. Game companies never miss an opportunity to milk a franchise.
- hansblix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Hopefully this one will be longer. ^_^
- codefidelity, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25Noice
- theragu40, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Then what the hell are you doing sitting on digg?
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18They already have, we've known there will be a trilogy for some time now.
I love how as soon as a game is successful, any sequels are labelled as 'milking.' Maybe they're making sequels because the original was damn good and popular as hell ? Oh no, corporate America, blah blah.
When they do to Gears of Wars what EA did to The Sims you can complain about milking the franchise. - thebaron2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16FTA:
"Bleszinski looked surprisingly chipper as the jumped behind the podium."
"He went then whipped up some excitement by confirming ..."
"The revelation was hardly surprisingly, though..."
Sorry for the comment abuse but this is unbelievable... how do editor's let ***** like this slide, even if it's only for an internet site. This is all from _just_ the second paragraph, I couldn't read more than that. Total crap - get it together internet journalists/editors, at least use Word's spell/grammar check. - seiha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16If they do keep some original characters besides Marcus, I hope they keep Cole. The best voice acting done in the game.
"I'm in the ZONE baby!" - Murdats, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14uh, storyline isnt always important, especially in an FPS. look at doom, storyline much?
whats important is the gameplay, and the gameplay is GoW was awesome, also I like the characters and textures, I dont see what you could find wrong with them - Murdats, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13yes please, you would rather there be no mario games after the original Mario bros.? you dont want twilight princess?, you say gta 1 was all we needed?
thank god the gaming industry doesnt follow your beleifs - HardwareLust, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11It is, without question, the best shooter on 360 so far, and quite possibly the best 360 game, period. Certainly the best graphics of any 360 game to date.
If you enjoy shooters at all, and you have a 360, you really should try it. Single player is good, coop story mode is really good, and the multiplayer is absolutely outstanding (as long as no one is cheating). I have a short attention span, and I'm still playing it almost every night. - TheBlackNinja, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12It was confirmed the very second the first person beat it.
And I want to kill that thing that shoots at you at the end of Act 4! (Another obvious thing for GoW) and 4 player co-op would be great. - HardwareLust, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10It's not really him. Someone took that tag long ago.
- numbnu7s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Can we get some more multi-player maps in the meantime? Please?
- theragu40, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Umm....
http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Gears_of_War_coming_to_the_PC_people_goodbye_360_exclusivity - da_bradler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8hopefully the "special" thing is they fix the off host lag and make it possible to play with friends.
- Cirrius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9"Yes we have once again confirmed Gears of War 2. Again!"
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8If by "trilogy" you mean "Make as many sequels as people will buy, then run the franchise into the ground" I'd say you're on to something....
- dreaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Can't stop the train baby!
- mikeyj10, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Ah, but will it be released via episodic download? *sarcasm*
- Narwaffle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=219
- TNHitokiri, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Actually halo 1's storyline owned. The gameplay was not as good as halo 2's but the storyline made it really awesome.
Regardless, pulling off a headshot in gears of war gives an unparalleled sense of satisfaction. - HunterTV, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9"My heart explodes with joy!"
Save the exploding hearts for the sequel. - Narwaffle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9While we're at it...
My heart explodes with joy! - nesdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6My cousin doesn't care for shooters all that much but still got GoW, and there it sat in it's packaging for a few months. A few weeks ago he finally opened it and him and I tore through the game co-op style (the ONLY way to play Gears. Find someone if you must, but 2 people make the game so much better). Amazing game, interesting fighting/cover system, nice graphics, decent (if not lacking) storyline. It was on the short side: we beat it on the easiest difficulty (which still was no cakewalk, especially the final boss), in a little over 14 hours in one sitting. Still worth it, though, and he greatly enjoyed it. I enjoy most games for what they are, but I really do reccommend Gears of War.
- mitrovarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Eh, the idea of morale isn't bad, but hardened soldiers committing suicide on the battlefield seems unreasonable. Maybe they should just snap and charge the enemy whether it's a good idea or not at that point, or run in terror.
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Halo's "storyline" wasn't all the great...
If the graphics are good, the AI is good, and the levels are fun it doesn't really matter if they've found the arch of the covenant or their just doing racial cleansing... - Ashkc88, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@NiGHTSChao
That has to be the stupidest point ever made. As long as they are good games, who gives a *****. Its almost like saying, "Why do we need more FPSs? RPGs? 3rdPSs? Simulators? Video Games? - jkirk7msa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Lots of good information in that article.
"Another system that didn't make the cut was the "Morale Meter." This system would have seen Fenix's squad mates become more and more disheartened the longer they were pinned down by Locust gunfire. If the group did not advance, a squad member would eventually "put a gun in his mouth." Again, the feature was cut, as the leads felt that it would be too disheartening for a player if his or her squad started committing mass suicide during an already tough level."
Imagine trying to beat Insane difficulty with the morale meter! - SuperiorKarsch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4haha definetly, and Baird needs to remain as he was such a badass with his sarcasm.
"...yeah it's a *****' party down here." - Metaridley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I have yet to see Snake or MC chainsaw anyone upside the head. Or curb-stomp their enemies to death.
- joey368, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3good call. Gears of War sold 4 million in 4 months!
- Ngai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I wanted someone's personal opinion and I got it, thanks. I think I'll be looking into it here pretty soon...
- Ashkc88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Epic did say that the next update has something "special" for us =o I wonder what it is.
- Shipley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3GoW was confirmed for sequels the instant it sold over a million.
- Juntistik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They don't suck on consoles. Just because your can't use two little thumbsticks doesn't mean it sucks. If they really did suck on consoles, Why are they selling so well?
- Blandyman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I don't know what you're talking about...
I just got the 7th expansion for The Sims 2, the expansion which is an update to an expansion that was for the original.
And it only cost me $40 plus an eighth of my soul.
I hate my life :( - Slyer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://forums.epicgames.com/showpost.php?p=24816815&postcount=13
Owned - WanderLink, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You're obviously a new-school gamer.
- yournamehere, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3nah, cliffy b isnt like romero. romero hasnt done anything in years.. except monkeystone
- xerus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Who would've known that the classic Badass-Space-Marine-From-the-Post-Apocalyptic-Future-Killing-Aliens formula would've worked so well?
- daofma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Somehow I don't grasp the texture work comment of the original poster. Everything was bump-mapped well and my eyes certainly never noticed any flaws on a 60 something HDTV (The scene in the rain was amazing). I'm one to notice graphical glitches and textures that aren't aligned, or poor resolution. If you're complaining about the style complain about the style.
As for the Halo comments, the original gameplay was way better than the second, in my humble opinion. - Juntistik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I have yet to see Snake or MC chainsaw anyone upside the head. Or curb-stomp their enemies to death."
Thats because they're smart enough to know if you chainsaw anyones head its going to take time. Snake and MC don't like to stand still when they're pulling off a melee. - weister42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So, GoW for now, then Halo 3 for like ever, then GoW 2? That sounds like a good schedule.
- xXShadowstormXx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Procrastinating.
- Klaumbaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You should be sitting in the chair doing your work instead of hoping the GoW box will.
