            These features got cut from the game because they didn't have enough time to get them in to game in time for the release (according to the DVD)

Tactics in this game are more along the lines of "Which weapon do we want to rush" and not so much "planning an attack". I just hope they take a clue from COD4 and remove multiplayer achievements and/or remove them from RANKED games.
          Oh and add a party system.

        I have the PC version and it is great fun. You can't really compare other FPS to it. The graphics are exceptional, and the action is intense. It's awesome. Except that there is no dedicated server and the server browser doesn't show ping.
        It also takes an hour or two to install.
        A microsoft game on a microsoft windows PC takes an hour+ to install.
        Actually, it's kind of stupid that it's been out for months and they still haven't fixed such a trivial issue as not showing ping, or making a server.
        GoW PC sucks.

      It's a good thing the 360 doesn't have many real exclusives, I'd hate to buy such an unreliable and downright ugly piece of hardware (seriously, matt white HD eletronics? wtf were they thinking!).

      So unless there are a substansial longer single player, it will be too expensive a deal (not that I can't afford it, but I hate getting cheated)
      • TheBEAST205, on 02/20/2008, -1/+7I think Bungie did a good job with Halo 3. They put every thing in it that people wanted (except the ability to search custom games) and even put some cool new things like forge and the flame thrower.

        If you are expecting a lot out of GOW2, then you're most likely going to be disappointed. Of course it's probably going to be a great game, but it most likely won't be that much different from the first one. The graphics will probably look a little more polished and we will probably see some new weapons and gameplay mechanics, but it really can't be much more than that.

There is quite a bit that CAN be done but you're right in thinking they will not do them. I would say that budget/time are the real reasons why they would not and I expect to see some of that stuff in GoW3.
          I just want to know what they are going to do with multiplayer as this is (kind of like COD4) the meat and potatoes of this game. I would love to see some dedicated servers (or find a way to fix host), larger maps, support for 6 players per team and lastly PARTY MODE!

        Even then, the storyline sucked ass along with the campaign's gameplay. I played it through Easy the first day I got the game and when I finished I told myself "I never want to play this campaign again. Ever. Where's Halo 1? That had a FUN campaign"
        They didn't end the conflict and left you with a cliffhanger. They didn't improve anything. They ***** up and they admitted to it in their own documentary. Just watch it, you'll see. (I'm sure it's online)
        Just because you add more guns and better graphics doesn't make a game better.
        • malcolmboston, on 02/21/2008, -1/+1Why play Halo (1/2/3) on easy, your completely ruining the game, i have a few mates who have done this and the game is completely different, you can basically walk through the game, put it on heroic / legendary though and its a different story, the game feels more epic and some battles are genuinely challenging.

          Halo is ridiculous on the lower difficulty settings, well done to you for ruining your halo experience.

It had a great story, great AI, sandbox levels (makes for better replay value), very balanced gameplay, underrated graphics (motion blur + HDR + normal maps), great artwork, great vehicles... the list goes on. People who liked Gears must've only played it a few times. It gets really annoying after a few plays. It doesn't have even GOOD A.I., and the weapons are pretty boring aside of the chainsaw bayonet. The freakin crossbow just felt out of place in that universe, but it wasn't much of a universe. I mean, great environements in GOW, but it wasn't interesting. And I just watched the 'teaser trailer' for the first time. LAME! No gameplay footage, and it's expected to come out this year? That's promising. I doubt the gameplay will be as rewarding as playing Halo 3 by yourself on Legendary. Now THAT was intense!

          UT2003 isn't usually mentioned as it's exactly the same as UT2004 except it doesn't have vehicles. Thats why they named it UT3.

It didn't do as well on PC as you could have hoped, but in europe atleast there are enough people playing so that I can always find a server with the gametype I want and with decent pings. Besides that, I am in a clan with a full schedule on clanbase, and I never had more fun with online gaming.

PS3 sales will skyrocket as it is still right around $50 - $100 more than the LOWEST priced BLU-RAY player. Now the gray area will be how PS3s sold as BLU-RAY players will translate into games sales. So only time will tell. That being said, I can't wait for GoW2!

If they don't delay it, less than six months will span from the announcement to the actual release of the game. I think some developers are just keeping their game under wraps until it's almost done, that way you don't burn out fans with the hype (Killzone 2, anyone?).

COD4, Halo 3 and other Xbox 360 games with 16-18 player matches work fine even though they are non-dedicated. This is the one thing I hated about gears. The netcode doesn't have any lag compensation like all other games do. Depending on your connection to the server, you had to aim ahead of a moving player to make it hit where the player will be once the server knows you shot.

      COD series, Halo series, counter strike and god knows how many others, all have lag compensation. You aim where you are SUPPOSE to and the server keeps a small history of where players were, checks it against your shot and determines if you missed or not. I have NO clue why gears 1 did and does not have this when all modern and even older games do. As long as there are several milliseconds between clients and hosts, games' netcode needs lag compensation techniques.

DX10 allows this, it is kind of like how HDR and AA couldn't be done for a while on PC games until they had cards supporting FP blending. I wouldn't call Epic lazy, but I think it was a bad choice for the engine for backwards compatibility, thats all.
