- Tenlow, on 10/12/2007, -14/+235I'd MUCH rather have a $600 gas card than a PS3.
- patsfan456, on 10/12/2007, -2/+184And gift cards have already been released in Europe.
- PatrickFisher, on 10/12/2007, -14/+139In Soviet Russia, Gas station owns you! Oh wait. They own us here too.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+67I make all my decisions based upon gas station signs. Pardon me while I smoke a carton of Marlboros.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -3/+62Sweet, what are you cooking on it?
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -5/+55@miniK:
Sucks, dude. Sorry to hear..... - BBX25, on 10/12/2007, -2/+49You're on Digg and you mention that you just bought a PS3. Watch what happens.
- DollaBill, on 10/12/2007, -7/+52"95% of diggers would trade their ps3 for a gift card"
- Diggtatorship, on 10/12/2007, -7/+49"And gift cards have already been released in Europe."
:D that made my day! - ajchavar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34i think its less bashing, and more a gas station being funny and trying to sell their gift cards by grabbing people's eyes by mentioning PS3.
it wouldnt be bashing if it were mattel, it would be business.
i just realized how obvious everything i just said was. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31Kevin Rose cries every time a title written by a 12 year old with PWN in the title makes it to the front page.
- protocoI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27By the way, the Hess Truck's back and it's better than ever!
- Alphateam, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26Now they would I bet, but.....
Ron Jeremy was on the Adam Corolla show during the whole PS3 Lineup and offered an all expense paid trip to the Bunny Ranch in Nevada for their spot in line and they all turned it down. - jwd2213, on 10/12/2007, -9/+25haha thats great, i didnt think i would ever see ps3 bashing outside of the cyber world.
- rubikfreak, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19@mmilian
You'll get DUGG down because you said "digged"! - TheSenorFreezy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8http://farm1.static.flickr.com/148/331490723_232d55756b_o.jpg
another pic for the non-believer - Paktu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Anyone know where this gas station is exactly? You can see the highway 46 sign in the background. I'm guessing it's Dakota County in Minnesota since the tree in the background doesn't have any leaves on it. Google Maps doesn't mark it but I'm pretty sure this is the road: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=14&ll=44.746307,-93.340445&spn=0.043952,0.080338
Perhaps someone on here can shed some light on this... - Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9@jackminardi: A buddy of mine who's never even heard of Digg and actually HAS a PS3 admits that it sucks.
- negativenancy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11If anything, this is actually great news for Sony as it shows the sheer popularity and unavoidable presence of the PS3 in the mainstream. This picture adds testimony to the fact that outside the internet, people actually want a PS3 (or at least the gas station owner thinks they do), so they attempt to twist the popularity of the PS3 into a humorous joke. If the Wii or 360 had the name-power of the playstation brand, it would have been up there instead and you guys know it.
Basically, this should not be seen as bad news for Sony... the PS3's brand-name recognition as well as its omnipresence in the mainstream could play a powerful factor in the upcoming console war. - arunforce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7"Buy Gas here."
Dammit, now I so gotta open up a Gas Station. - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Not if the company makes enough of them. iPod Shuffle is one of the hot gifts. But they're readily available too.
- EXreaction, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1099% would trade their PS3 for a Wii(if they don't already have one).
:D - Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Did you just use "the hot gift" and "PS3" in the same sentence?!
Aren't "hot gifts" hard to find during the holiday season?.....

troll, we know its not a word in your dictionary. say something more insightful next time you elitist nazi. - Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10"Gift cards are thoughtless gifts that basically say 'I don't care to take the time to figure out what you want'"
So is a PS3. - TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Thoughtless? I'd rather get a gift card to use on anything I want at anytime (or towards another, bigger item) than something that, while I might have wanted, I would have purchased myself.
Then again, money would be even better than that. :P - dysonlu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5This is GREAT for Sony's PS3. Free exposure is good for a product. Sorry for bursting your bubble, PS3 haters.
- Days, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I bought my little brother a $50 gas card, and made him watch as I hooked my PS3 up to my new 50 inch Sony Grand Wega.
My nuts will tell you, he would have rather had the PS3. - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Diggtatorship:
If the PS3 is at 0.62m in the US right now, as VGCharts says, it's already ahead of 360 in the US for shipments within two months. And that's after 6 weeks.
http://vgcharts.com/page3.html
Your mind just isn't open to the idea that Sony shipped a lot of units like they said they would, eh?
Daveecee:
They're being returned unopened right before the 30 day exchange period ends because no one likes them? How about because people like my friend bought six of them and isn't able to sell them profitably on eBay, and so is returning them without even finding out if he likes them. Many poeple just won't buy off eBay (like me and everyone I know), so the market is saturated. - TravisS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Kwik Trip == Evil. But they have a point with the PS3. Although the kids wouldn't want their giftcards to be for kwik trip
- zioxide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"You do realize that PS3s around the USA are getting returned, right? Because nobody likes them?"
Actually, its because everyone is ***** greedy and just bought them to put them on ebay to make a ***** of money. But now that everyone is doing that, the PS3s on ebay are selling at or below retail price, so the people are taking down their auctions and returning the PS3s. - chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Or humorous.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I rather get raped up the ass by the oil companies than by sony...
- dysonlu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Great comment. But not surprisingly, you got dugg down for not saying anything negative about the PS3.
- cjmovie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I do. You can tell: The "PS3" font doesn't match the rest, nor does it have the same lighting effect as the others.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So's a Wii.
Basically, buying the hottest gift around, be it iPod Shuffle, PS3, Wii or TMX is often a way to just say "I didn't know what you wanted, so I just got you something everyone else wants, you may not like it, but at least you can show it off!"
Gift cards are very practical, but practical is overrated. It's the thought that counts, and a gift card shows you didn't think much.
If practical was the most highly rated attribute in a gift, people would just give envelopes with cash in them (like at some weddings). - TDR25, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3While I'll admit that Sony has made some pretty stupid decisions this year and deserve all the criticism they get, but that's just ridiculous!
- staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I have a PS3 and It does suck right now. But lord knows I have NEVER bought a system based on its launch line up. The PS3 is no different... besides I have a few games on other systems to complete I am not crying.
- davemccauley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anyone think that stuff like this actually hurts the PS3? I myself do not own one but its just a question.
- Maggette, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is news???
I mean, that Time Person of the Year award looks lamer every day. - Maggette, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...and another thing. To the "viral marketers" that post this ***** on Digg and follow up with comments, you just make the site as a whole less useful and trustworthy.
- JavertHolmes, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Look guys! Another anti-PS3 article made it to the front page!
*fwap fwap fwap fwap* - Shivalyn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Anyone else think the 'S' looks photoshopped in?
Meanwhile I make this post from my Wii. Love my Wii. I can buy a gaming console AND eat this month! Joyous! - DragonAura, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ Paktu
HAHAHA! I laugh at myself... Ok, disregard my last comment. The sign is here in Lakeville MN, less than a mile from my house. - mehtheinfernal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's a gas station sign that mentions the PS3, there isn't much we can really discuss about it.
I thought it was funny and I'd rather see that at my local gas station instead of 'Pepsi 3 12 packs for $10'.
Maybe people remember the insane gas prices from earlier and magically associate that with a PS3? - aspec, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's at County Road 46 and 35E "Kwik Trip" in Lakeville, MN
- Goosey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@Alphateam
Not too surprising. I imagine having a recognizable celebrity offer you that on television would be very intimidating. If they thought about it at all they might realize it wouldn't be worth the public humiliation, although I would imagine most people would just be frightened and try to get out the light.
I know I would find it a very uncomfortable situation. - DragonAura, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@ Paktu:
I live in Dakota county, MN, and I haven't seen that sign anywhere around. =P (of course, I don't drive much, but still...) -
