- sych0, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18Quit bitching about slow news days for gods sake. Do something other than check digg every 5 minutes if its not active enough for you
- strangeguitar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Not so fast there, thumbs. Let's keep that crown on Mario's head, shall we?
- n00ch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8All I gotta say is... UP UP, DOWN DOWN, LEFT RIGHT, LEFT RIGHT, B A, B A, SELECT, START!
- beni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7How can Tecmo Super Bowl not be on the list? Without a doubt the most fun sports game ever.
- zeldafan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6All great games, but Kid Icarus should be somewhere on that list, it really is a wonderful game.
- crummer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3man, Crystalis was awesome. Im glad it at least got an honorable mention.
- OhROFL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Good thing SMB3 was number 1. I wish BattleToads made the list though, that game was AWESOME!
- somesthetic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I am ashamed that I only own 7 of them, in my rather large NES collection.
sigh. - gukid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Liking NES is getting so "trendy" these days, this list is pretty generic.
How about, a list of 10 games you would have played if you really like thet NES that much back in the day (not in any real specific order, except for #1):
10: The Guardian Legend
9: Tombs & Treasure
8: Battle of Olympius
7: Crystalis
6: River City Ransom
5: Faxanadu
4: Dragon Warrior 4
3: Megaman 3 (Best of the series)
2: Castlevania 2: Simons Quest
1: Blaster Master
I tried to keep it mostly obscure, but it's hard to leave some games out. - 8ight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2no
mario 2
castlevania
kid icarus
no tetris
tecmo super bowl
rygar
chip 'n dale: rescue rangers (ok, ok, that's a guilty pleasure... love that game)
ghost 'n gobblins (too hard)
rc pro am
and then two of my personal favs
jackal
cobra triangle
really though, the first 4 or 5 i speak of. they didn't even make honerable mentions. - Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The US or Jap version?
- .mark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's a shame that most of the people who probably voted weren't actually alive and/or playing games back at that time. Tecmo Bowl? Maniac Mansion? River City Ransom? Crystalis? World Cup Soccer? Blades of Steel? Those were the truly 'great' games; not just the Nintendo published ones and titles that are still alive today.
- Teaboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I never played Mike Tyson's punch out, but I owned the other version, and that should be #2!
- Matrix_Prime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3yeah have 1 to many B A's, and Select was only needed for 2 player.
- pfister_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2M.C. Kids is proof that a lousy license is no excuse for making a bad game.
- walugi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Contra IS the best co op game of all time. And the Dog in DH has got to be the most widely recognised character is all of gaming.
- Niffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That game scared the ***** out of me as a kid! Some creepy old man catches you and locks you in the basement?!?! ESRB would have given it an M.
- vdubski, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I am proud that out of my small collection of NES games, I have 8 out of 10.
- Nyfeh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3List looks good, although I'd have Mario 2 somewhere on the list..
- LocalScope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2007 373 5963
I will always remember this code - fascfoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, a Gamespot top 10 that I am 100% on board with. All of those were awesome games with SMB3 rightfully earning the top spot.
- mylkhead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2start tropics was a great game, but I agree where is Tecmo Super Bowl or Castlevania? Willow was also great.
- Niffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, whoever gets the Raiders first automatically wins. Oh yeah, 120 yard touchdown pass!
- Niffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Mad props to me. I own them all.
- redsrule2500, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where is Maniac Mansion!?
- NSXG5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Those games bring back so many memories.
- sersdf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1+digg for my favorite game of all time taking #1
- 8-bit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bad dudes gets mentioned and double dragon 2 does not? This is complete crap. And where is dragon warrior?
- eqisow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16 of the 10 games on that list were published by Nintendo.
That says a lot about the quality of Nintendo games! - Moogle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1there are 666 diggs right now :O
- 8ight, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3then all i got to say is
justin bailey
let's go swimming! - jeedee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where is Startropic ?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My cousin and me which lived in the same building owned them all. I will also put there Castlevania II Simon's Quest, Legacy of the Warrior, Wizards and Warriors and Karnov
- laddr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1YES! Bad Dudes got Honorable Mention, I didn't know anyone else had even heard of that game!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1kirby was so ahead of its time, how is it not on there?
- sniper668, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I can still hum the tune and remember the levels."
Gah. I thought I was over humming the SMB3 tunes, but reading this has made me start again. - pigsbladder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree with their number 1 choice. I had so many hours of fun and frustrations with it.
- Niffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That game was incredible, its just too bad it had so many graphical glitches.
- BigBoogie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Tengen Tetris!
- jedi0utkast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Iron Tank?
How come no one remember that game.. my absolute favorite after mario 3.
The good all days... :) - jmdajr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1memories :)
- TwwIX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Double Dragon ftw!
I can't believe that it didn't make the list. - devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, I was a little sad that Castlevania, Kid Icarus, and Double Dragon didn't make the list (among others) but I think it's a solid top 10 and with Bionic Commando and Blaster Master in the honorable mentions I have to give the thumbs up.
- brusty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1RBI Baseball
Star Tropics
Baseball Starts
RC Pro AM
Kid Icarus
Mario 3
Tecmo Super Bowl
Rygar
Duck Tales
Pro Wrestling
Did anyone ever beat Ghosts & Goblins? That is the hardest game EVER - Bluehammer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What about Super Dodge Ball?
- ronintetsuro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1YES. And no love for Bionic Commando. What gives.
- streborzil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was hoping someone would mention that!
- Tommy_Gun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A lot of people mess up the Konami code. I wrote an article about how "i am 8-bit" messed up the code multiple times in their art:
http://crackedrabbitgaming.com/2006/04/25/i-am-8-bit-doesnt-know-the-code/ - sl4x0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1what posers chose Final Fantasy 1? that cart had ZERO fanbase in the U.S. until the Final Fantasy series picked up a generation (arguably two) later with FF3 and then FF7.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Tecmo Super Bowl was incredible.
Also Blades of Steel.
Two games oddly missing from a list that includes a clunker like Duck Hunt. -
