- JonnyTrombone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+54I once killed five people because of MS Hearts.
- zerovirus34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+46jeez...when are people going to finally understand that people are responsible for thier own actions...
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+46"A Boy and His Blob" makes me throw jellybeans at amorphous objects to change them into useful, and sometimes dangerous devices.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+46Yeah and the sims 2 makes me boss people around!
- flymo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41Pac Man drove me to obesity.
- siodine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30Lead psychologists and criminal profilers working at the FBI have already concluded that video games aren't the causes for actions like this and columbine.
- RichPowers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30If someone is deranged, angry, violent, and isolated they're gonna go postal regardless. If it wasn't videogames, some "violent" CD or movie would also be to blame. Besides, millions of people play Doom and Call of Duty and Halo and live perfectly normal lives...
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Why don't I ever see "Gravity blamed for jumping suicide!"? Even if it was a contributing factor, millions of gamers around the world don't go out and kill people, just like millions of people who are under the constraints of gravity don't use it to kill themselves.
You have to be a certain kind of ***** up to go out and kill a bunch of other human beings because you're playing games.
The media is stupid as hell, I'm seriously going to get fired if a paper that I'm hired at ever pulls ***** like this, because I'll protest. - fejy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18That bone-crunching thump as the line of blocks disappears just makes me want to go bust some skulls in.
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15When asked if he "felt guilty" for what happened in Montreal, Ledonne said, “I think what I felt the most was regret for a young man that had lost touch with reality, and just seemed to have no grasp on any kind of moral compass.”
Strobel replied, “I just wonder if [Gill] maybe lost touch with reality with a little help from that game of yours. … I’m not going to suggest that you drew up that game with the intent of having people killed, but you know, I’m tired of that kind of ‘Gee, I had no idea’ sort of excuse.” He also said that there’s “no question” that violent videogames are showing up on more crime scenes in the US and Canada.
Ledonne added, “Most young men play videogames, so I don’t see the correlation.”
THANK YOU, Somebody gets it.

- hhOwArdrOarKk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I suppose the continuing violence in the middle east can be attributed to a culture fascinated with the game 'bomberman'.
- zeldafan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Katamari Damacy just gets my blood pumping and I just want to go out and roll up people and then send them to the cosmos.
- valis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Exactly. And some people are sent to Iraq and Afghanistan, fire real weapons and real bullets. How many of them have come back and murdered people?
The violence is in the person. No video game will make someone who did not have a violent personality suddenly grow one. - nbx909, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11yeah i heard the guy that shot up that school played pong for 2 weeks straight....
- mgold1n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Katamari makes me want to... well, actually, I'm not quite sure what Katamari makes me want to do.
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"Videogames including Postal, Manhunt, 25 to Life and Grand Theft Auto were referenced on his blog at VampireFreaks.com"
uhhhhh did anyone think to look at his URL? - elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14Wow, you stupid-assed hypocrite! You just blamed media and religion for your own problem!
No, getting rid of media and religion won't do it, either. The only way to stop people from being absolute morons is to shoot them. - LiQuiDCo2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Blaming Games is stupid why not blame
the parents or the people in question upbringing?
video games is the easy target and will always be...
i usualy try to eat mushrooms to grow so i can jump
on peoples head and kill them! - D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Here is an interesting fact

And that is just X-Fire I know tons of people who play video games and don't have X-fire
Now, how many murders have we had recently?
Video games are no longer a valid excuse. - brandonr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Chess makes me want to think and reason all the time and NOT BLAME VIDEO GAMES FOR PEOPLES' STUPIDITY/INSANITY.
... but that sound from metal gear solid when snake gets caught does make me feel really nervous. - hovester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Hmm. Games don't kill people, people kill people.
- montiff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I think we are missing the point of the article...
Were is the link to the game so we can play it ?! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Hey cool. that's the Columbine game in the picture from that article. I played and finished that a few months ago. You go to hell in it and everything.
- jpyun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Kim, Qadaffi.
Do I win? - PIX869runescape, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I've got a great idea!
Instead of blaming the movies, the games, the music, the goths, the emos, the [group or item here], we can blame the shooting on the guy with the gun? - Revolt25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6take responsiblity for your own actions, don't blame others
- milomilomilo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6What were those games that hitler was playing when he killed millions? it was GTA right?
Or sudam when he killed his own people, or when we fought in vietnam.
or any one of the countless wars or acts of violence or rape, theft, hatred.
Because I'm pretty sure that ***** happened before the hot coffee mod. - Smwbigboss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6In a related story, ABC news reports the growing obesity problem is due to people watching the food network.
- Ukghster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Amazing...
I live in Quebec and it is the first time I see this reference. This has been all over the news since it happened and many things were mentioned but it's the first time I see video games.
Poor kid was isolated, had no friends and was very active on Gothic websites like vampire freaks. Was still living at his parents place at 25 and liked taking pictures of himself wielding guns and knives. Oh, have you seen the pictures? He was dressed like Neo in the Matrix, surprising no one picked this one up yet.
About Marylin Manson, the guy was a goth so he probably listened to it.
Someone somewhere is trying to get his cause advanced by this tragic event it seems...
Still, poor kid had tons of problems that may or may have no been influenced by video games, music and other things. Don't shoot the influences, try going back to the problems to understand what happened I say! - ksuburke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"Desert Bus" the super fun driving minigame from Penn and Teller's sega CD game "Smoke and mirrors" where you drive from las vegas to albequrqe in real time (8 hours! @ 45 mph) to get one point; that game was accually a response to the claim that games were becoming so realistic that they would cause violece, (according to wikipedia)
- AXNJAXN, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Soul Reaver makes me want to become a vampire, evolve a set of wings, get executed by my master, be thrown into the underworld by my brothers, and seek vengeance as an undying wraith who consumes the life force of the dead to sustain myself..
- asyluman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I know some kids who, after playing mario, went to school, jumped on a bunch of people while wearing raccoon suits. They then committed suicide by way of poison mushrooms.
Truly devastating, these videogames. - mink78, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://www.columbinegame.com/
- DrBones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Maybe not a surprise that they blame video games, but I went to Dawson College for two years and still have friends there... My best friends brother watched a girl get shot three times in the leg and his friend through the elbow. All this in the cafeteria I myself spent hundreds of hours in.
Check out www.vampirefreaks.com. This is a board that the ***** who did the shooting posted pics of himself with guns and knives, with ridiculous commentary. CTV put the gallery on their site, you can see it at http://www.ctv.ca/gallery/html/vampire_blog_060914/photo_0.html.
Videogames are clearly not to blame. This kids parents should have had an abortion. - D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Guns don't kill people, Kids(and college students as it would seem) who play Video Games do......
How many other avid gamers sick of this nonsense...well I'm off to go blow people away in Counter-Strike (Keep in the the servers boys, keep it in the servers)
Maybe I don't kill people becasue I DO play video games...ever consider that? - codeblind, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Never! I blame you.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Remember when D&D got blamed for bullcrap like this? Take that you PlayStation psychos! (I'm kidding, of course.)
- 560Benz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If anything, video games help provide a release for stress and anxiety. Teen violence has been dropping and is at the lowest level in 30 years while video games are increasingly violent.
What's next, global warming is caused by breaking a sweat? - TheIguana, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Funny, the actual Canadian media seems to be blaming it on the Goth subculture.
Iggy - chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6yeah that was a really stupid comment. I replied to the wrong post and reading it back it makes no sense at all.
- blacklotus135, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4People have always attacked what they do not understand. This is no different.
- whisperedlie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4so THAT'S the guy who plays Postal 2. I was wondering who the hell bought a copy of that toilet.
- protogenxl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4PacMan makes me chase Ghosts after Eating Kix for Breakfast
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Donkey Kong makes me wanna grab my bananna in public
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@brandonr
That's funny, chess doesn't do anything to me but make me walk in funny patterns whenever I get onto a tiled floor.... - codeblind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Is Qadaffi out on PlayStation, or is it XBox only?
- ka0tic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I myself am a loner. I dont have any friends and all I do is stay in the house, surf the net, or play video games. I also listen to metal and most of the clothes I wear are black. But regardless, I have no intention nor has it ever crossed my mind to harm let alone kill another living being wether it be an animal or person. So you can't blame it on the person's surroundings and infulences are but on the person's actual mental well being.
