- geoboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Please do not eat Gameboy Micro.
- Plecky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I believe the screen is bigger on the SP, and the protection of the screen from its flip is extremly important as some of you have mentioned. I'm assuming this new micro has a backlit screen and all the jazz of the SP. Some things that may help it out would be internal memory or place for SD or something so you could also use it as a MP3 player of picture viewer. Also, increased battery life couldn't hurt. Lastly, as someone mentioned but I hihgly doubt would be a decreased price. Although I doubt it will be much more expensive then the current SP, I highly doubt it will be much cheaper. I couldn't see this being cheaper then the SP, but maybe this will make the SP cheaper and if I see a SP for $50 how could anyone resist? Either way, if this thing is better then the SP then we win, if its worse but makes the SP drop further in price then we win again! Also helps to know that it will continue games for the SP and Micro to continue being made in the wake of the DS. Nothing wrong with that I say... Sure it may be old news, but as long as the games and battery life are there its good to me. I mean, that's why the gameboy beat the gamegear in my opinion even though the game gear had color and backlit screen and graphics - it lacked battery life and games in my opinion. When it comes to something portable, size battery and games is what matters most to me. But as I said above, a memory of some sort be cool for music/pictures/and the like... Any news about a possibility of such on the Micro??
- monkeybutler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So lets see. Nintendo's new "revolutionary" products are a console that plays old games and an updated portable that plays the same games. I dont hate nintendo, but I do hate that they label everything to be "innovative" when its nothing but repackaged nostalgia.
Here's to hoping they fail so MS can buy them and I wont have to buy all 3 systems every gen. - alpha7q, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0meh, its still extreamly sexy looking...and givin that teh SP is only 99 (ive seen it for 79 i think at wal mart) this is prolly going to be only 50$ !! which would pwn.
- pmpsta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My main concern will be the durability, the SP is as solid as a rock. Drop it, kick it, sit on it, the thing still works. If the micro can stand up to the beating it will be a popular handheld device and people won't shy away from the small form factor.
- scottbrown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So Nintendo is returning to the flat and long design style, reminiscient of the original GBA, excep they're making it smaller. This isn't innovation, it's repackaging.
The GBA SP is a better style because it provides two dimensions, one for the screen and one for using the controls. You don't have to twist the unit around so that you can see the screen and play comfortably at the same time.
The unit is already small, an European adult's fingers hardly fit...however it could be a bit thinner which would simply mean an upgrade to the hardware. - Elusion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Says it'll be out in the "Fall". There's a 'play by play' over at IGN where they mention the Mirco, so I don't think it's fake. I hope not because I want one.
- mcdougall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0do any of you know how much it will be or how much u think it will be?
- phishyJon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0“Because of its diminutive size and industrial-hip look, Game Boy Micro immediately identifies the person playing it as a trendsetter with discriminating style.
wow, am i the only one who thinks this sounds a little fake? i dunno, but i sure would be happy if it wasnt, ive been meaning to get a GBA for a long time now. - bish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hahaha... do not eat, indeed!
i'll stick w/ my SP. - listentothis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's not a fake. Four inches across, two inches high, less than an inch in width. And yes, it's slated for a Fall release.
- Plecky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Personally I disagree with you G-RaZoR, I think Nintendo should ditch the console war and focus on the handheld battle front. Still make games for other consoles much like Sega is currently doing these days, but focus MORE energy on handhelds. Let Sony and XboX duke it out in the console arena (although Nintendo does have a lot of nestaulgic value and is still in my opinion the best system for younger gamers pre-teen). But while Sony and Microsoft duke out consoles, focus dominatig portable-gaming much like Apple has dominated portable music with their iPod's. I mean, instead of trying and often failing in the eyes of many in the console wars to Sony and Microsoft, instead make Sony (and maybe on day Microsoft?) fail in the handheld wars to them!
- whitesanjuro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0monkeybutler: backward compatability is something that everyone is doing doing, thats not why revolution is revolutionary. the fact that it sounds like anyone will be able to develop for it IS.
- dusingaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When is this coming out? Now?
- snapcase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is stupid. The SP works very well. No need to "improve" on it further. When it works.... DON'T FIX IT!
- Ravenlock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If this makes the SP go down in price, I'm fine with that. But it's definitely not necessary.
- maddog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I will buy it. I will get me a 512mb flash cartridge. I will download every decent game for the gba. I will play it for 3 months. I will sell it at ebay. :)
- G-RaZoR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nintendo needs to stop making these new Gameboy designs, and work on their console. Sure it looks hot, but gosh. Wasn't the DS released to surpass the GBA? The Revolution looks the best out of the 3 consoles, but I'm afraid they are going to do something bad with the feature set
- Gardenhead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I couldn't get the link to work. Here's Nintendo's link. It seems to me like Nintendo is heading in the wrong direction. The SP was fine.
