- Rayonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+82I don't want a company to love me, just value me as a customer. Striving to make a quality product at a reasonable price doesn't hurt either.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29I thought what we had was special :(
- user123, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Its one thing to sell a bad product, its another to have ***** customer service.
- DAVIBE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14KISS ME!
Why?
when i'm getting *****, i like to get kissed. - EsotericBoredom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10That "customer service" answer usually means setting up a call center in India an have raj answer the phone as Steve.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16Funny thing about this is...
Apple doesn't give a ***** about you either. - dkoon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Huh Fanboys? Digg has ***** load of them!
- tuxidomasx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9so they just wanna ***** me and leave me?
- simpleid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9When customer service is bad, it's usually very bad. There must be a solution to 'customer service' down the road, .. one day.
Japense robots? The roomba could replace Dell's customer sservices! lol. - Quaid, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14Funny how these types of articles only come out when Sony is getting their asses beat.
- slicedoranges, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Nintendo loves all.
- TalenKlaive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11@itchye
Yeah..maybe try submitting your own story instead of spamming other stories. This kind of stuff just gets you blocked ;) - Daiken, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11this article seemed to be more about console manufacturers not loving me (tear). As for a corporation not loving me, why should I care? Not many of us are like Soto and blow our money because "it's Sony". Most gamers spend their money because "I wanna play games!"
Secondly, corporations can't show love by hugging us or tucking us in at night, but they can show us love by providing a quality product, that is maintained and supported for as long as expected by most of their consumers. Companies and consumers aren't supposed to develop a parent child relationship. There are good business practices that should be followed and that's all consumers really care about. - cmdrNacho, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8... The only thing i learned from this generation of consoles.. is I will never be an early adopter of any of these corporations again.
- valis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5There is no greater love to a company than your repeat business. That is what they want. They will do what is necessary to get it. When they fail at that, over time, they fail as a company. It is just the way it works.
- Daiken, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Digg is rigged, live with it, or join the ***** who already control half of the front page stories.
- cmdrNacho, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10Apple products are definitely not the best. Its all about marketing, and doing what apple did... making a trendy product.
- fantasticFlan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So Nintendo is the least *evil* for not supporting DVD, or what? I think you may be taking this too seriously.
- thaimyshoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2We've talked about this to death. Adding new features later is not "screwing over the customer." I'd hardly call that "evil"... more of an upgrade.
- Gohan5052, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6I dont hate Sony because of an old grudge, i hate Sony because of the MANY times they let me down. I hate them because of the horrible quality of the ps2, also for stripping features from games when they come to the US, having crappy laggy online, not supporting the ps2 hard drive I saved up for, and cutting corners with the psp. And constantly lying to customers.
- captjc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@cmdrNacho
Maybe, but until IBM sells OS X with their Thinkpads, Apple will not be *just* a trendy company with well marketed products. - bubba9999, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I agree - the pinhead who wrote the article doesn't understand the difference between his two examples. The second person hardly qualifys as a "hater".
I think that most of us want to like Sony, but after rootkit-gate, the Blueray vs HD-DVD debacle, memory sticks, mini-disc, and other proprietary products that they've released, and sub-standard support after their launch, I'm personally gunshy about their products right now. I certainly wouldn't buy one of their products right out of the gate - I'd wait and see what all of the early adopters have to say about it before even considering it.
I still love my PS2 - I have no intention of getting rid of it anytime soon. I might get a Wii for the fun-factor though, and maybe a PS3 after a couple of years when the price drops and there are more decent games for it. - Methodius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And they don't even look at you during.
- ericeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They obviously don't 'care' about us but they do want to make a profit, do need to maintain good relations with there consumers, and also need to be able to create games that captivate us gamers. In other words, they'll attempt at making games that us gamers want, will try hard to help us, and developers probably make games because they care about games.
- GawtMilk, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6@itchye
Why do you care, for ***** sake? Was a loved one of yours killed due to 9/11? Or were you dropped on your head as a baby? I'm not sure you noticed this already, but this is about *video games*. There is a reason your stories aren't reaching the front page -- no one wants to sift through your tinfoil hat *****. - EsotericBoredom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Try a product ( or read reviews from sources you trust). If you like the product and you can afford it and still pay rent then buy it. The only reason the manufacturer should matter is if the company is known for poor customer support or if you have any ethical qualms with the companies actions in the past. Look at it this way, when was the last time you based your milk purchase on the brand name?
- Dustyb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@itchye
It doesn't matter you are still an idiot. Anyone who has to spam to get their views heard is just wrong in my book. You could spam saying "the sky is blue check out my blog!", and I would find a way to argue with you, it just makes me that mad. And I'm sure there are plenty of diggers that agree with me. - pabster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Fanboys at the ***** grocery store?
Where do you guys live? :o) - treypidation, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2not much of an article... you introduced a new problem that we don't care about and then argued with yourself... kudos...
- Dragonspawn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sliced Oranges: "Nintendo loves all"
You're obviously not European. Nintendo has a LONG history of treating Europe like the proverbial red headed stepchild. Releases sometimes over a year after US/Japan. Then the DS Lite debacle, where the head of Nintendo Europe said categorically that there was no redesign on the DS (So I bought one), couple of days later, DS Lite is announced. - sirdarksoul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0After the way SOE treated the players of SWG, they'll never get a dime from me
- Aharoni, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What turns people into fanboys? marketing.
Corporations don't love fanboys? sure they do. They are extremely dedicated consumers and they become ambassadors of the product. Its called "Brand loyalty" and fanboys got a bucket-load of it.
A game console is a product with a very high level of involvement. It is usually the first product with high level of involvement that a teenager purchases (even if his/her parents are the ones who are paying for it). If you'll notice most fanboys are teenagers (there are exceptions), who are more easily manipulated in terms of feelings (and a part of marketing is about triggering people's feelings and desires) - and hence they become fanboys.
As of the second person who has been portrayed in the article, he's no fanboy. He's simply a disgruntled client.
Sure, it is very rational to say "The outsourced service wasn't good, but that doesn't mean anything about the production which takes place at a different location by different people" - but guess what. People aren't rational. Thats why so many companies and corporations understand that every point-of-contact with the customer there's a chance for friction (its called IMC, or "Integrated Marketing Communications". Google it up). For that reason they are stickers on company cars which implore you to call and report to them in case the driver is driving like a maniac, or a technician will be trained on how to talk to the customer. Its never "This particular employee is bad" or "Just the service of the company is bad". People look at the brand as a whole. Every worker, every service, etc.
He's no fanboy. He's human. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3@talen i just dugg u down. U, conspiracy boy and all the ppl that flamed him. By responding to him you just furthering the flame war that has nothing to do with the article.
- StevZissou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Really?!? I feel so used. And they never did call me...
- smokespliffz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1buried as lame
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1You people are idiots. I'll say my intelligent message again:
To tell the truth, I started with a SNES and Game Boy and then progressed to N64. Then, still playing the N64, I got a PlayStation for Metal Gear Solid and the first Medal of Honor game. Then, I discovered Half-Life and ditched the consoles for the PC. After playing a bunch of the best PC FPS games ever as well as other amazing PC games, I got a PlayStation 2 so I could play San Andreas the first day it came out. Then, after going to the last three E3's, I decided I would get a Wii last November. I will be getting an XBOX 360 later this year so I can play Grand Theft Auto IV in October. We should all be concentrated on games like me, not hardware. - Aharoni, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Oh, I recognized it... that was the exact reason why I dugg you down.
- StevZissou, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I had a buddy who worked in customer service. It was basically a clearing house for people with emotional issues that couldn't do anything about them in real life. So they dump the anger and frustrations of their daily lives on the poor bastards with the telephone headsets and keyboards.
A couple of things to remember: just because you bought a product does not make you special. You want good service? Go to a high quality retailer and buy their insurance policies. You pay more, but when something messes up, you're covered. People buying OEM stuff in the absolute cheapest mannor and expecting full retail support were really common at my friends job. Customer service is a service, not a right. And you get what you pay for. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I think that was the best story description EVER!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1i am sure that game companys like the money u spend on there products

- GawtMilk, on 10/12/2007, -15/+8Hurrah, docdoak. Hurrah. We should all be exactly like you...spend about $30 on games and over $1000 on consoles.
In my opinion? Get the console that has a better software line up. I'd rather gouge my eyeballs out with salad finger's rusty spoons then play Wii Sports or Zelda. I also don't like the looks of Gears of War or other XBox 360 games. If I do get a console, it will be the one with the solid line up -- I'm in to Gran Turismo, Resistance and (by the looks of it), Battlefield : Bad Company. Does that mean that my girlfriend's younger sister should also get a PS3? No, she sits and happily plays Spongebob on the Wii. I've got better things to do with my life then running away from oddly-sentient cheesburgers (like clicking people's heads!) so I don't get the console. Now why this is a thought process that seems to not register with hundreds of other people? I don't know. I don't *want* the Wii, so I won't get one, no matter how much cheaper it is. Many of you don't *want* the PS3, either. I'm not going to cram my ideas down your throat...just choose the gaming line up you think you'll enjoy and go with it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1@Simpleid
Okay I will stop.
Sorry.
I just feel helpless about whats happening.
Goodnight - DiggityDugged, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4Neither do my parents, but i got over that too.
jay kay - i killed them - cmdrNacho, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1For us consumers its always choosing the lesser of evils...
- MS .. I can live with new chip , as well as bigger HD. But screwing us over by now adding HDMI support.
- Sony.. makes there system extremely expensive because they want to push a format , that they want to make more money off of.
- Nintendo.. well.. i guess DVD support later.. - Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2So I guess I'm the only one who's heard that song before? It's Snoop Dog, for Pete's sake.
- capiCrimm, on 10/12/2007, -18/+9your like ***** zombies aren't you? I block you... but you just get up... I block you... but your just get up... why?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1@itchye
I had to read that a couple of times as its so poorly written but this is what I got from it. let me reiterate that things point because I don't think you've read it as it debunks nothing. Their point is that Pop Mech. is wrong because they didn't not start the independent investigation. OMFG how stupid. It doesn't say this point is wrong or that point in the article is wrong its says they didn't start the investagation. Where is proof? And answer me this. Did Bush and co plan the First WTC bombing during the Clinton era from the Texas gubernatorial mansion?
Here is a better link then.
